You can do creation, but I can tell you it's not needed, several people have commented that they have between 50 and 80k left over with nothing more to purchase

They are not trying hard enough.

Some very good items stack infinitely.

Do not encourage them. May the battle be ours to win.

I'm afraid someone has pointed out to me in a PM on how crafting gear can break the system, so I will have to rule that all gear must be purchased at full price. Sorry to those who spent time craft gear, but you still have time left to fix it.

Also to answer a few questions that I received in PM's. Any limited charge items will be refreshed between fights at no cost. And there will be a solid eight hours between fights so casters will have their full spells.

And finally, any classes with animal companions or familiars. You are allowed to bring your companion into the arena and fight as it is part of your class. If your companion or familiar dies but you win the match, they are back for the next fight. However, if the companion is still alive, but you are defeated, the match is over.

Guilty Tangent:
Crafting doesn't break the system if you remember it is not how much gold you spend, but the total wealth you have(the total gold of all the items as if you had bought them at full price). If you really wanted to break the system, you'd wait until character creation is over and then craft at half price. Doubt that's going to happen in a Gladiator game though.

20th level, oh how I have yearned for a game to go that high. I'll have to think real hard about this before I make a character for aproval.

New list of applicants:

Belrim Eagle-eye
Soryn Ambereye
Ai Lin
“Mage-Slayer” Duncan Oto
Nathaniel
Graice Demoneye
Vigal
Akor Scourgebane (needs to be finalized)

Did I miss any? That's eight, so eight more to go.

I'm also thinking that after the Tournament is over, we might, if people are willing, do two special matches of four versus four teams.

Shadow Lodge

Quick question related to familiars/companions- as a Summoner, do I get shoved into the arena with my Eidolon already summoned by the 1-minute ritual, or do I have to use the 1-round 'Summon Eidolon' spell? There's a big difference as the spell expires, the ritual does not.

I already knew that was a possibility, but I assumed since you were the host you knew about it also. With that aside, is this your first time running a game at very high levels? If so be prepared to solve rules disputes because things are not so cut and dry when people grab feats and other things from several books, and try to combine them. :)

just a heads up.

Darn it I missed the first 8. I should be in by Friday.

@Arkwright - Your Eidolon would already be with you

@Mr. Swagger - I've run several games at high level, but never with any crafters.

Which brings me to another point, no arguing about rules during combat. This is for fun. If a dispute comes up. I will take time to examine the problem and present a ruling.

Shadow Lodge

Great, thanks.

Hero Labs is being annoying, so I am coming up with an different character for this. Should be ready to go fairly soonish.

No rush, I'm sure we will have spots still open by friday

Yeah, turns out Synthesist Summoner isn't fully implemented in Hero Labs. Oh well...time to pull out the back up plan...hehehe.

I refuse to purchase Hero Labs until the synthesist is fully implemented.

The wizard's bonded item allows him to improve it as if he had the relevant crafting feat. Is that ability going to be nerfed?

Just to be clear I am not asking about custom items, but things like making a wand of fireball, which is in the book, at half price.

The bonded item is part of their class and can be improved, however keep wands that aren't bonded at the usual price

GM Tierce wrote:

Just to be clear the bonded item(wand) gets the full benefit of the feat to include price reduction.

Any other wand does not benefit because the other wand is not bonded.

Is that correct?

That is correct Mr. Swagger

Is this still recruiting?

indeed it is

We now have ten applicants:

Belrim Eagle-eye
Soryn Ambereye
Ai Lin
“Mage-Slayer” Duncan Oto
Nathaniel
Graice Demoneye
Vigal
Dorian Brindale Leafthorn
Smoke Shadow
Akor Scourgebane (needs to be finalized)

Six more to go, keep them coming!

I'd like to submit Darius Blackfire. How do I submit my character to you?

pm me the crunch, or if you use hero lab, email the por file to PFTierce@gmail.com

Osirion

Well. Finally got all my crunch done and submitted.

If you find any errors, please let me know.

I see that, I'll change the name from Shadow Smoke to Ulthor the Cursed

Sweet a DM that uses hero lab. I'll email you my character with questions too.

I would use Hero Lab, but for the second time it is deciding to ignore feats and class abiliteis! Ack! I will write up and send you the crunch.

Sent you my email, Tierce, with my character info!

I will be sending out a few notes to a few people as I convert your stat blocks into hero lab.

We have 4 spots left as we now have 12 participants

I just need to pick spells, and actually enter them in HL. I will PM you the por file once I do it.

What happens if you are short one or two people. Will the "leftovers" have to fight a monster or something?

If we are short, then I will leave it up to you guys. Either one of three things would happen, one, we would do a lotto for that spot and it would be an instant carry over to the quarterfinals. Second, you could fight a monster, or third, you could fight a GM run NPC.

I don't think we will be short, but in the event we are, What option do you guys like?

I doubt we'll run short, its not even Friday and the roster is 75% filled.

I think any stock monster will suffer versus an optimized character. :)

I vote to take on the monster anyway though.

Osirion

I have two questions:

1. Are we going to be able to watch other contestant matches?

2. Are we going to be able to see character builds after a person is eliminated?

Both are entertaining. The first would allow for contests to adjust strategies based on observed events. You could still randomize matches, at least until round 4.

The other matches won't be a secret, so if you want to watch, then by all means.

As for builds, once a person is eliminated, it will be up to the character if they want to share it to the group

I'm very excited for this. :D

I am not participating but my test character had a 64 AC (like a 52 touch) in his defensive mode and was immune to most conditions...good luck hitting something like that.

I will be interested to see how this turns out and what people make.

One of my test builds had a +64 attack on a single offensive strike and broke 90 AC on full defense.

Another test build could push +70 attack, but with a signifcantly lower AC.

I don't think this contest is going to go to pure DPR/AC though. It's going to take thinking outside the box to survive this.

Discussion thread is up. Follow the directions there and we can start placing individuals in the Round Robin

This will be a blast!!

How did I not see this thread earlier? **Devious grin** I'll think of something.

Prepped and ready to go.

In the discussion thread it says the tourney will be round robin, but everything up to this point seemed to indicate single elimination matches. Just wondering which will it be?

That is a good question. With 16 people I think single elimimation is better.

To any of you using herolab it is not automatically counting the tomes and manuals that give inherent bonuses to ability scores. You will have to do that manually.

I used the wrong term, it will be single elimination

Belrim Eagle-eye
Soryn Ambereye
Ai Lin
“Mage-Slayer” Duncan Oto
Nathaniel
Graice Demoneye
Vigal
Dorian Brindale Leafthorn
Ulthor the Cursed
Darius Blackfire
Orion
Scizor
Akor Scourgebane (needs to be finalized)

Post in the discussion thread if you haven't already and reserve your spot in the tournament

That's 13, three more to go and we have until tomorrow night. Any open spots will be taken up my a monster that will face a random character instead.

The Grand Battle Start on Monday, so use the weekend to think of strategies.

I need to free up some gold so I will have to sell some of my items to make my idea work. My feats won't change though so I am still ready. Once I do that, and prepare spells I will send the final copy out.

I know it may not be smart to say this here, but I think my strategy's pretty foolproof: Beat the other guy :P

I'll try to have something by tomorrow night, but if not I'll still be reading along.

So, Fiendish Heritage is approved. My question is, for the roll a d100, what would you have us do to determine an ability?

ahh yes. completely forgot that. its 3 d100.

3d100 ⇒ (10, 59, 11) = 80

Ill take that +1 to will saves
