Waited more than long enough, so no actions for Lyla.

After some seconds which seem like an eternity a small bar, most likely broken from a bed, flies towards Torald.

As Ceranas missiles hit their invisible target where Torald slashed the air you hear a bonefreezing scream and the undead aura vanishes.

Finally, I already thought this fight would last forever...

Kalina sheepishly returns and helps examine the room (is Detect Undead Still on from 4 rounds ago?)

While searching the room you don't find any other undead lurking around and a quick check with Detect Undead also only reveals the rapidly dwindling residue aura of the poltergeist, but even when you wait some time that never completely vanishes.

Knowledge Religion DC15:
Poltergeists usually can't be completely destroyed in combat, it will most likely return in a few days.

You also find a few more useful, still unbroken items:
2 healer kits
2 vials of antitoxin
2 vials of antiplague
3 doses of bloodblock
3 doses of smelling salts
2 vials of soothe syrup
3 potions of cure light wounds
1 potion of cure moderate wounds
a box with 10 vials of strong hypnotics (mechanically Drow poison)

Cerana will gather up 1 of each of the items in her pack except the potion of cure moderate wounds and the box of poison.

"I suggest Kalina should carry a set of these too, so that we can spread the supplies in case we get separated. Either Torald or possibly Bramwell should carry the cure moderate wound potion. Lyla, does Bramwell heal the same way that we do?"

Cerana then cautiously listens at each of the 3 rooms to the west.

Those are no proper rooms but just small chambers with beds and were only seperated by curtains long fallen to decay.

Since there doesn't seem to be anything of value there Cerana goes to listen at the door that would lead to S19.

Cerana looks about ready to open the door but is slightly paranoid that something might jump out again.

If Kalina's Detect Undead is still up she'll use it in the direction of area S19. Otherwise she'll recast it.

I was just waiting until everyone said they were ready before opening the door and/or the detects find something. Was waiting on Lyla.

I wrote that mainly because it sounded as if Torald wanted to enter.

Before you opens one of the more ruined rooms of Harrowstone, the entire east wall collapsed in an ancient fire. Where the walls once stood strong water of the lake beyond now flows freely, submerging parts of the room. Out of this murky pond looms a giant stone furnance, an old copper plaque over its entrance reading: "Old Ember Maw".

Those with detect undead can sense that the negative energy radiating around it is higher than in the rest of Harrowstone.

You recall that there was some small tibit about a big furnance used to heat the prison and that the guards sometimes threatened prisoners to burn them alive in it. If they actually ever did it you don't know, but it surely wasn't a normal way of execution.

As Torald comes near to the furnance you notice that the aura gets stronger.

Torald proceeds to the furnace.


As Torald gets near it, the entrance of the furnance seems to anymate into a skull of twisting metal and stone. The long dead fire in it's belly roawring once again as a ray of fire lashes out like a tongue. It strikes at strike Torald, who just in time brings up his shield.

I'm ok. Yes, the undead aura comes from the furnace. Maybe you are right and there were some prisoners executed in this furnace.

Torald returns to the hallway.


As Torald leaves the room the fires in the furnance die down again.
