So this is the discussion thread.
Once everyone has finished the fine tuning of their characters (a few players have PM's regarding that, while I didn't check every number I have found a few errors/have a few questions) and checked in I'll get the gameplay thread up.
Just as information, most of this will be in the gameplay thread again:
You all have come to the small town of Ravengro following an invitation to attend the burial of Professor Lorrimor. Over the last few hours everyone of you arrived sound and safe and were greated by the Professor's daughter, Kenda Lorrimor. While you had time to get rid of your backpack and may even got the time to refresh yourself a bit you couldn't change into more suitable clothing and thus now stand at the entrance of the Ravengro restlands mostly as you arrived, just having put a dark mourning robe over your equipment.
4 to 6 of you were chosen or volunteered as pallbearers and now stand ready to carry the Professor to his final resting place.
It would be nice if we could decide on the pallbearers already here.
If there are any other questions, feel free to ask.
Lyla |
Since she's a child, I don't see Lyla carrying the coffin, although she would definetely follow the funeral procession. Lord Bramwell could be one of the volunteers, though.
Cerana Whisperwood |
Checking in, hopefully everything is fine with the character sheet though I've now added the money spent.
Cerana would want to be a pallbearer but would likely drop the casket so she'll refuse if asked. She will likely follow shortly behind the procession.
Ash Windfinder |
Ash doesn't mind being a pallbearer, he has seen many of the people he had grown to love die off as a result of being an elf and outliving many of his human counterparts.
To him, carting off the dead would give him a chance to pay respect to his loved ones by being involved in the funeral. He reflects on death and looks to it as an honorable rite of passage for all mortal beings.
Ash Windfinder |
Pallbearer volunteers as of now:
Lord Bramwell
Jolienne Vara
Tahlaera Silverbow
Ash Windfinder
Raoul Calvisi
Torald Othric of Griffonstone
Edit: Kalina
ok, looks like we got six already.
Everyone okay with this list?
Edit: now there is seven, anyone on that wants off?

Is anyone interested in helping me get a Composite Longbow +3 Str.
It costs 400gp, I can put in 200gp if other people are willing to help pitch in for the next 200gp (spare money after your base equipment).
Think about it, right off the bat I will be getting my total str bonus applied to damage. I could be potentially one-shotting low level mobs with everyones help on the buy.
I'm already assuming no one would be interested in cooperating for this, but I will pay them back immediately as incentive and not only that, but it will give us a great start. Again, assuming no one would be interested in cooperating I have already set my equipment to get what I could afford, but will swap out my +1 composite longbow for the +3 composite longbow should anyone be interested.
Torald Othric of Griffonstone |
I could afford to lend you 20gp. But you could consider to take the Rich Parents Trait to get the wherewhithal.
Tahlaera Silverbow |
It'll probably take some revision of Ash's background. A couple of possibilities: his parents could be rich elven merchants who are/were Forlorn themselves, or you (if Finkmilkana's okay with it) could re-flavor the trait that it was a reward for saving some rich person's life somewhere along the way.
I'm kind of curious how the Forlorn elf/non-Forlorn elf interactions will play out.
Cerana Whisperwood |
The one thing about lending money, when would we have given you the money for you to buy a longbow before the start of the campaign? Seems a bit out there as we probably don't know each other. Though I can't really give you much anyway as wizards start off with such little money.
Jolienne Vara |
@Ash Windfinder
The 'On the payroll' trait get's you an extra 150 gold, and since you don't have a campaign trait for your character, could solve two problems (with some minor gear tweaking) at once.
EDIT: 'Surprise Savior' is mechanically identical to 'Warrior of Old' if you don't want to lose one of your trait bonuses.
Jolienne Vara |
Since everyone has checked in and there seems to be no big problems left (to adjust minor things like a trait or the like can still be done in the next few days once the game is underway) I'll get the Gameplay Thread online and try to slowly get it running.
Heading off to work now, I'll be posting soon after I return. Looking forward to this...
Cerana Whisperwood |
Tweaked something on Cerana, got some of the monetary things wrong and I forget bows basically require a strength mod, one that I don't have, silly me. Just changed stuff around so she's got a crossbow instead.
Kalina |
Just to add, I took
Lord Bramwell
Jolienne Vara
Tahlaera Silverbow
Ash Windfinder
Raoul Calvisi
Torald Othric of Griffonstoneas the list of pallbearers, but if you want to change something just say it here.
I think I offered to step in, and Tahlaera preferred to step down. Either way is okay with me.
Finkmilkana |
Just so you know:
Since Lord Bramwell now allready assumed in game that Thalera is a pallbearer I believe it would be best if we just play it that way.
In theory it is planned for the following dialogue to be interruptable at any time. Since with giving everyone enough time to do so that would probably mean a few days without any or very few playerposts I have bundled parts without a chance for you to interrupt. Should anyone feel the overpowering need to interrupt already at an earlier point we can retcon it, but I would prefer to do it this way.
That said anyone who does decide to do something should roll an Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff etc. check as appropriate. But keep in mind that it may not be very useful if someone threatens them and another player asks them to go to drink a beer and talk it over.
Concerning the coffin: Should you want to safely lower the coffin that would take a Fullround Action by every pallbearer and would pretty much take as long as the dialogue.
Should someone just let go of it, there is a good chance that the rest can no longer keep it safely aloft.
Finkmilkana |
Since it came up in the Gameplay thread:
Should some extended dialogue between players arise which may take even some days to completely play out and is of no immediate importance for further actions, I would suggest it is just continued in spoiler tags (not to hide it, more to clearly mark it as an ingame already completed event) while the adventure goes on.
Otherwise most of the group just stands by while only some of the players can participate.
And while I do indeed plan to play with experience points I would like to post them only at every full level. Should anyone at any point want to know how many the group has right now, just ask.
Ash Windfinder |
There's so many people in this group!! I'm trying to get some RP with all y'all but it's going to take a few days (in game) to pan out properly, don't want to leave anyone out though, sorry if it feels that way.
Cerana Whisperwood |
Yes there are quite a lot aren't there? I feel we can probably do some of the RP in here or another thread for in party banter that might build character relations, because personally I love intra-party conversations.
Torald Othric of Griffonstone |
Sorry, when there are only a few posts from me this weekend. I have a very close timing schedule.
