So this is the discussion thread.

Once everyone has finished the fine tuning of their characters (a few players have PM's regarding that, while I didn't check every number I have found a few errors/have a few questions) and checked in I'll get the gameplay thread up.

Just as information, most of this will be in the gameplay thread again:

You all have come to the small town of Ravengro following an invitation to attend the burial of Professor Lorrimor. Over the last few hours everyone of you arrived sound and safe and were greated by the Professor's daughter, Kenda Lorrimor. While you had time to get rid of your backpack and may even got the time to refresh yourself a bit you couldn't change into more suitable clothing and thus now stand at the entrance of the Ravengro restlands mostly as you arrived, just having put a dark mourning robe over your equipment.

4 to 6 of you were chosen or volunteered as pallbearers and now stand ready to carry the Professor to his final resting place.

It would be nice if we could decide on the pallbearers already here.

If there are any other questions, feel free to ask.

Halfling Alchemist 7/Swashbuckler 1 / HP 56 of 56 / F+6 R+13 W+2 / AC 21.17.15 (-1 AC vs. same size or smaller)/ Init. +3 / Perc +14

Since she's a child, I don't see Lyla carrying the coffin, although she would definetely follow the funeral procession. Lord Bramwell could be one of the volunteers, though.

Dhampir blight druid 3 / HP 21 of 26 / F+4 R+3 W+6 (+2 disease/mind-affecting, -1 damage, drain, or reduction of Str, Con, Dex)] / AC 16.12.14 / Init. +4 / Perc +9

Indeed I could.

Female Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1

Jolienne would certainly be willing to be a pallbearer

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

Checking in, hopefully everything is fine with the character sheet though I've now added the money spent.

Cerana would want to be a pallbearer but would likely drop the casket so she'll refuse if asked. She will likely follow shortly behind the procession.

Female Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1

Quick question, how does one add that bit of text after the alias name?
As in (Female Elf Wizard 1) etc... I haven't been able to figure that out.
I'm still relatively new to PbP.

Female Elf Magus 1

Tahlaera would also volunteer, though she would point out that she does not really know anything about Ustalavan burial customs and would invite someone to explain the process to her.

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

When you set up your character profile it asked for stuff such as full name, race, class/levels. Fill those in at it will show up when you post.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Just saw that I was excepted into the campaign, thank you so much!!!!!

I will set up my statblock ASAP!

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Ash doesn't mind being a pallbearer, he has seen many of the people he had grown to love die off as a result of being an elf and outliving many of his human counterparts.

To him, carting off the dead would give him a chance to pay respect to his loved ones by being involved in the funeral. He reflects on death and looks to it as an honorable rite of passage for all mortal beings.

Female Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1

*glances nervously around at all the elves*

Don't worry, we don't bite.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Ok, I am going to start reading carrion crown players guide right now.

Male Human Fighter(unarmed)1/rogue1

If he is needed to, Raoul will be a Pallbearer.

Attack:
[dice=Fauchard]1d20+5[/dice] [dice=Damage]1d10+4[/dice] [dice=Fauchard PA]1d20+4[/dice] [dice=Damage]1d10+7[/dice]
Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2 | AC 19 T 11 FF 18 | HP 25/25 | F +8 R +4 W +6 | Init +1 | Perc +0

Torald is willing to volunteer as pallbearer

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Ok, readjusted my background to tie Lorrimor to me. Fairly basic, but goes along with the hooks in the Carrion Crown players guide.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Pallbearer volunteers as of now:

Lord Bramwell
Jolienne Vara
Tahlaera Silverbow
Ash Windfinder
Raoul Calvisi
Torald Othric of Griffonstone
Edit: Kalina

ok, looks like we got six already.
Everyone okay with this list?

Edit: now there is seven, anyone on that wants off?

Attack:
[dice=Fauchard]1d20+5[/dice] [dice=Damage]1d10+4[/dice] [dice=Fauchard PA]1d20+4[/dice] [dice=Damage]1d10+7[/dice]
Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2 | AC 19 T 11 FF 18 | HP 25/25 | F +8 R +4 W +6 | Init +1 | Perc +0

Of course and good night. It's 1:30am here.

Female Dhampir Oracle 2

Hello, I'm so happy to be here. I've been tweaking and embellishing away. This looks to be a great campaign.

If another is still needed Kalina would be honored to help carry her dear friend and mentor to his final resting place.

Female Elf Magus 1

Tahlaera would just as happily not be a pall-bearer. Non-elven customs are strange to her. The only reason she would volunteer is for lack of numbers, so if someone else would be happier doing so, Tahlaera would happily rescind her offer.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Is anyone interested in helping me get a Composite Longbow +3 Str.

It costs 400gp, I can put in 200gp if other people are willing to help pitch in for the next 200gp (spare money after your base equipment).

Think about it, right off the bat I will be getting my total str bonus applied to damage. I could be potentially one-shotting low level mobs with everyones help on the buy.

I'm already assuming no one would be interested in cooperating for this, but I will pay them back immediately as incentive and not only that, but it will give us a great start. Again, assuming no one would be interested in cooperating I have already set my equipment to get what I could afford, but will swap out my +1 composite longbow for the +3 composite longbow should anyone be interested.

Attack:
[dice=Fauchard]1d20+5[/dice] [dice=Damage]1d10+4[/dice] [dice=Fauchard PA]1d20+4[/dice] [dice=Damage]1d10+7[/dice]
Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2 | AC 19 T 11 FF 18 | HP 25/25 | F +8 R +4 W +6 | Init +1 | Perc +0

I could afford to lend you 20gp. But you could consider to take the Rich Parents Trait to get the wherewhithal.

Female Elf Magus 1

For some reason, the notion of a Forlorn elf with the Rich Parents trait amuses me.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Hmmm. I'll look into this tomorrow, good call, what's a good way to tie that trait into RP like Tahlaera said? I'm up for ideas =)

Female Elf Magus 1

It'll probably take some revision of Ash's background. A couple of possibilities: his parents could be rich elven merchants who are/were Forlorn themselves, or you (if Finkmilkana's okay with it) could re-flavor the trait that it was a reward for saving some rich person's life somewhere along the way.

I'm kind of curious how the Forlorn elf/non-Forlorn elf interactions will play out.

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

The one thing about lending money, when would we have given you the money for you to buy a longbow before the start of the campaign? Seems a bit out there as we probably don't know each other. Though I can't really give you much anyway as wizards start off with such little money.

As long as you don't abuse the trait I'm ok with it.
(No full wand of Magic Missile for example)

Male Half-Elf Alchemist (Vivisectionist/Chirurgeon) 2

Checking in. Benedict could help with the casket, but would not push for a spot since he likes to seem more academically oriented.

Female Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1

@Ash Windfinder

The 'On the payroll' trait get's you an extra 150 gold, and since you don't have a campaign trait for your character, could solve two problems (with some minor gear tweaking) at once.

EDIT: 'Surprise Savior' is mechanically identical to 'Warrior of Old' if you don't want to lose one of your trait bonuses.

Since everyone has checked in and there seems to be no big problems left (to adjust minor things like a trait or the like can still be done in the next few days once the game is underway) I'll get the Gameplay Thread online and try to slowly get it running.

Heading off to work now, I'll be posting soon after I return. Looking forward to this...

Just to add, I took

Lord Bramwell
Jolienne Vara
Tahlaera Silverbow
Ash Windfinder
Raoul Calvisi
Torald Othric of Griffonstone

as the list of pallbearers, but if you want to change something just say it here.

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

Tweaked something on Cerana, got some of the monetary things wrong and I forget bows basically require a strength mod, one that I don't have, silly me. Just changed stuff around so she's got a crossbow instead.

I think I offered to step in, and Tahlaera preferred to step down. Either way is okay with me.

Ah yeah well, the list is just so that no confusion comes up in the gameplay thread, so it's fine if you do it.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

Ok, I changed my trait from log roller, to on the payroll. Changed my equipment. Awesome.

Just so you know:

Since Lord Bramwell now allready assumed in game that Thalera is a pallbearer I believe it would be best if we just play it that way.

In theory it is planned for the following dialogue to be interruptable at any time. Since with giving everyone enough time to do so that would probably mean a few days without any or very few playerposts I have bundled parts without a chance for you to interrupt. Should anyone feel the overpowering need to interrupt already at an earlier point we can retcon it, but I would prefer to do it this way.

That said anyone who does decide to do something should roll an Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff etc. check as appropriate. But keep in mind that it may not be very useful if someone threatens them and another player asks them to go to drink a beer and talk it over.

Concerning the coffin: Should you want to safely lower the coffin that would take a Fullround Action by every pallbearer and would pretty much take as long as the dialogue.

Should someone just let go of it, there is a good chance that the rest can no longer keep it safely aloft.

Female Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1

@Kalina

Thank goodness somebody in the party invested in a Charisma score!

Grand Lodge

Female Dhampir Oracle 2

Lol. It wasn't so much goodness... as a primary stat for an oracle. But thanks all the same.

Since it came up in the Gameplay thread:
Should some extended dialogue between players arise which may take even some days to completely play out and is of no immediate importance for further actions, I would suggest it is just continued in spoiler tags (not to hide it, more to clearly mark it as an ingame already completed event) while the adventure goes on.
Otherwise most of the group just stands by while only some of the players can participate.

And while I do indeed plan to play with experience points I would like to post them only at every full level. Should anyone at any point want to know how many the group has right now, just ask.

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

Sounds fair, I'll put any future general banter into spoilers, unless its somewhat plot relevant.

Na, banter is fine even without spoiler, just when the plot moves on but the banter is not yet finished it should be put in spoilers to make it apparent that it is not happening "now".

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

Ah right, I see what you mean. Sort of like a time and space saver.

Male Elf Ranger 1) [hp 9/10] [init +6; perception +7] [AC: 16, touch 14, flat-footed 12] [Fort: +1;Ref: +6;Will: +1]

There's so many people in this group!! I'm trying to get some RP with all y'all but it's going to take a few days (in game) to pan out properly, don't want to leave anyone out though, sorry if it feels that way.

Female Elf Wizard 3, HP: 18/18, AC 17/14f/13t, Fort: +2 Ref: +6 Will +3, Init: +5, Perception: +9 (darkvision)

Yes there are quite a lot aren't there? I feel we can probably do some of the RP in here or another thread for in party banter that might build character relations, because personally I love intra-party conversations.

Whenever you want a thread to continue an intra party conversation once the game moves on just tell me. I'll get it up and linked to the campaign description.

Female Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1

Hey everyone, just dropping in to let you know I've had an overwhelming schedule and won't be able to keep up with the campaign. Thank's for having me and happy hunting to you all.

Sorry to see you go. I'll miss having a strong fighter-girl around.
