Next time they'll learn from Fitz and me and keep a sane balance between melee obliteration and ranged vaporization.

So a shotgun in close quarters is functionally exactly the same as a long-range rifle?

Basically. Close quarters in this game is flavored a lot like the target in melee is wrestling you, trying to attack while you're trying to hit such a close target.

If I used a benny on my ranged attack and I need to drop the shotgun to pull out my hatchet, do I get the spent benny back?

To answer your question, Aeryicka, if Cray attacks anything Size+2 (the giant Yao Guai is bigger than that, but the regulars are Size+1) then it would be something 4 sizes bigger, and he would get +2 to attack.

The rest of you need to attack something Size+4 for that. The giant yao guai WAS Size+3, which is roughly the size of a grizzly.

F~&%ing champion bird just killed something that weighs like 500 times what he does, if not more.

Happy Independence Day. =)

I love watching those "man on the street" interviews where they ask softball questions and then have people stammer and stutter in ignorance. I just saw one that asked "Who did the US get independence from?" Comedy gold. =)

Heh, at least they ask about far away historical figures or facts, here in Spain there's a Youtube channel which interviews youngsters either when they are shopping or out partying.

You'd be surprised how many of them don't know who was the dictator that "governed" for 40 years straight only until '76. Or who was our first president.

Blessed ignorance...

Hey all, posting in all my games to say that as of this evening I'm going camping with family and then paintballing for several days, so I won't be able to post. I'll be back the evening of Sunday the 10th, and hopefully I'll be back to regular posting and catching up then or Monday morning. Please bot me as needed while I'm away!

When in doubt, raise your vigor. There's only so many ways to get toughness in this game, and that's like 80% of it.

Gonna go ahead and raise my Energy Weapons and Repair to d10's I believe. Then get Fighting up next level. The d8's are not as kind to me as the d6's.

Went with Vigor. Took another look at the rules, and turns out that I was getting Parry and Toughness confused. Fixed my stats, my Parry is at 4 (5 with my spear), and my Toughness is at 6.

Love how there is an actual weather pattern in the Fallout universe now.

Really, about the only thing I don't like about FO4 is the conversation system. Tired of NPCs just walking away mid-conversation. Absolutely love the crafting system, and the recent workshop DLC gives you the ability to start crafting ammo.

Crafting ammo should have been in the game from day one. Still it's nice to have it. Especially since it doesn't look like I'll be getting mods on PS4 anytime soon. I really need to invest in a better graphics and sound card for my piddly home PC.

I don't mind the conversation wheel that much. I do wish we had more options for origins though.

You mean instead of either a soldier or lawyer? Maybe one of the mods that'll work will be an alt start mod like they have for FO3. Hopefully they'll fix the problems they've been having with mod capabilities for PS4 soon. Was supposed to come out this month some time.

Not the conversation wheel I don't like, it's how a person can just walk away during the conversation. Gets really annoying, especially if it's part of a quest.

The conversations are annoying. I hated the vagueness of the one word responses in Mass Effect, and the acting and writing was actually up to snuff there to make it at least tolerable. None of the characters (including yours) ever have anything really interesting to say, and accidentally insulting someone on multiple occasions because "That's not the rules of baseball" turns into "F$#~ you you dumb shit, that's now how you play it" sucks ass.

Even though I agree almost completely with your opinions, I must say that I will alway appreciate having the option of being Mr. or Ms. Smartass.

I won't explain when or where because Greentea may have not reached that point, but having your character say a Doctor "Can you repeat that phrase this way: Iiiigor, fetch me the brain?" was priceless.

The OPTION is nice, it'd just be nicer to be able to know exactly what I was saying, so I can accurately choose.

Oh, I have only played a few hours. I spent most of it turning my hometown into a base for crafting stuff. Then I needed a crystal to build a radio, so I ventured into town, a raider shot me, and I died.

Survival mode is a b!~~$.

Tomorrow my live Pathfinder group switches to SW Fallout! I'm sending out another batch of vaulties into the waste!

So, I've done a rest stop, and I've done a school...where should I abandon THIS group to?

I'm currently doing a sniper run in FO4, and I am deadly as f**&. My next game will probably be a high Charisma run. I'm looking forward to being a smartass who can talk his way out of anything.

And I agree, the walking away out of conversation is annoying. What's worse is when the NPCs demand your attention.

"Look, Piper, we're trying to sneak around some super mutants who could murder us in their sleep. Maybe now isn't the best moment to talk about your feelings."

How about a Newspaper's Building? That way they can find old "tomes" speaking of the mostly dreadful but seemiingly random Florida Man's horrible acts!

I like it, but I'd have to think of something besides a Protectron. They don't have enough personality to think like that. Maybe a Robobrain? Might be a bit powerful, but...meh.

I like the idea of a Publix. It's so uniquely Florida. Also, most of the food will be rotten and useless, especially those delicious subs, but at least they'll be able to stock up on canned goods to begin with.

Giant rats and radroaches can roam the area as sufficiently low-level stuff. I can even have collapsed ceilings to block off the aisles and turn them into rooms of a sort. Pre-war cash can be in the registers. Ooh, and the pharmacy for chems, deli and meat department for knives, cleavers, etc... Good call. Maybe have a truck that crashed into the back with some supplies in the back.

No, I've got no plans for that. Just having a hard time being creative from a GM standpoint. I didn't even come up with anything new for my live group, I just threw them in the same school format with the slavers and all that I did you guys. Just kinda...brain blocked.
