FR: THRONE OF BHAAL (Inactive)

Game Master EltonJ

This campaign is a campaign that centers around the Church of Bhaal (Ba’al). A Canaanite sun deity, in the Forgotten Realms the name has become synonymous with death.

A REMINDER:

Okay, this is about being oaky -- just kidding. Anyhow, the idea of the campaign is to introduce the new state of the Forgotten Realms. To those looking in to apply for such a game, this game is post Spell Plague Era.

The major gods of the Sundering is more like the original Grey Box in 1987. The Spell Plague was not happily received of most of the Forgotten Realms fan community -- not even myself, although I'm part of the cause for it.

Those that already applied know this. Anyhow, Wizards of the Coast is introducing the Tyranny of Dragons campaign arc to introduce the post Sundering Realms. I thought that this was a bad idea, since the mysteries of the return of Myrkul and Bhaal are not fully answered. So, I thought of tackling an introduction to the new Realms and answering these questions myself.

Why is Myrkul the God of Death, and why is Bhaal the god of Murder?

Many of the heroes think that they will get rid of Bhaal, but we shall see. Bhaal survived death before, and he might do all that he can to prevent such an occurrence again.

*Taps chin* If chosen, I'll see what I can do about integrating my backstory into that, ah, rather important event. XD Honestly, I think dealing with the remnants of the Spellplague could provide some very good motivation for Sariel - something along the lines of dealing with troubled spots, helping put down evil, and generally reminding people that good gods A) Exist, and B) Are actively helpful.

How often are you looking at for postings?

If there's still space available, I'd like to throw my hat into this magical ring. With Yggdrar the Crusher, my Elven Barbarian. Or maybe Thorin Wildshape, my Dwarven Monk.

Tempting to make a cleric of finder wyvernspur.

Often, as in making up campaigns? This is the last PbP campaign I'll be recruiting for. My plate is full after this.

--------------

Show me both.

---------------

Finder definitely survived. Do it, just for fun.

------------

Rednall, I'll be considering each throw in. you're definitely in the top running.

Does this mean arcane spells don't work anymore? Can you post the effects on gameplay for those of us without the resource material?

Arcane spells do work. It's like how Ed wanted it in the first place.

Arcane Magic returns, and the Weave is repaired from the Spellplague. We are just starting 5 years after the Sundering.

Wiki articles:
1. The Sundering event

2. Lore

shouldn't Finder also have the Construct subdomain? Pretty much the core behind his story, was his creating a living construct basically.

yes.

I am thinking an evangelist, but would you permit me to have String as the perform skill instead of Oratory? This is more fitting with Finder I think

I can definitely work with that event. ^^ It should be quite fun to see where this goes...

i will start putting him together tonight,

Character sheets comin' up!

Thorin Wildshaper, Dwarven Monk.

Yggdrar the Crusher, Elven Barbarian.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Potentially lurker-status dot. I've too many to actually join this, though it sounds cool, in theory.

Hi, MiniGM! Glad to see you! Miss ya, man!

EDIT 2: I'm not actually going to submit a character here! Just to be clear. I'd like to, but I don't have time. :D

EDITed: to be more clear with what I mean. :)

I'll accept anything for music.

- realization - I come up with some good campaigns . . . -/realization -

:)

Im thinking possibly a Moon Elven Wizard or Arcanist from Myth Drannor, he has been displaced since it was overrun again and he has been staying with distant family in Silverymoon ever since.

Elton, I think I missed it if you previously disclosed, but where in FR will this primarily be located? Will it be in the classical locations, the Sword Coast, Waterdeep, Cormyr, the Dales, etc? Or is it going to be in some out of the way location like Damara or the Shaar?

Sorry, but I'm not allowing classes from the Advanced Class Guide. :) There is a lot of options already existing that covers the so called classes. :)

The Western Heartlands.

Baldur's Gate, actually.

This is going to be My Cleric of Finder's alias.

Slowly building my crunch.

DM do we get 2 traits?

Incidentally, have you settled on whether or not the Mythic rules will be used? If so, I'll need to get started on ideas for my Legendary Item, since that would be the first thing to take. XD

Baldurs Gate....of coarse, lol.

Wizard it is then. So no material at all from the ACG, even feats or archetypes, or are just the classes banned?

I think we've been hit with a bug.

Thorpe's backstory is not showing up.

I have to get the book to give you a precise ruling (no I don't have the book and I don't think it's added to the PRD yet.)

Since you will be investigating a crime in your home village, we aren't going to use the Mythic rules.

No Bug EltonJ, I ahdnt written it yet.

In any event the outline is there, it is not particularly well written I am afraid, but I think tha is the core, a bit of a rough and tumble Cleric. I am not married to the Construct Domain yet...I think it is interesting and could be really versatile.

I have spent some of the gold, but have more to spend.

Got it. ^^ Fortunately, I didn't build Sariel with the expectation of Mythic goodies, so she should still be quite viable for helping out the rest of the team.

I thought you were going to ask special permission to play a saurial. Finder's church isn't really that wide spread, so I thought you were going to ask to play a saurial almost. :)

So, Thorrpe is a 130 years old?

Yes.

Rednal! Hello! I never recognize your avatar, since I normally see you without it. :P

You've got some great folk requesting this Campaign, GM!

Also: why am I checking this? Sleeeeeeeeeeep calls. :)

ooo didn't have my timeline right did I?

how about Joel was 150 when he died? lol,

I will make a change.

I thought about a Sauriel long and hard, but i just don't have a good grasp on them, and don't think i could rp them well

there we go made a couple changes so it makes sense...though it is still not going to get published any time soon

Yeah, three Arcanists! If people aren't careful (the PCs) everyone will think Mystra or Azuth has something against Bhaal. hehehe.

I dont know about the PRD (I never really use it), but its all up on the d20pfsrd.

Gambit, sometimes you make me really mad. Especially if one's days of being impoverished are nearly over. (sigh).

Okay, Gambit, this is why the hybrid classes are not allowed:

All of the options can be fulfilled by an Archetype or a prestige class.

-- Archetypes
* All of the archetypes for the classes allowed are approved. Although the person that invented "Eclessithurge" should be lauded for inventing a new English word, but I think there might have been a term in English that might have been much more simple. :)

* The Feats have been approved, although I admire D&D 5th Edition's list greatly. :)

* The spells: I'll have to consult a friend on them.

DM do you know how many players you plan on taking? Also when will recruitment finish?

Stolen from his home by pirates at a young age (so young, in fact, that he doesn't even remember his homeland), he was auctioned off to slavers from sembia. Raised to work as a greeter in the house of a powerful merchant, Jasper finally found a chance to escape when adventurers attacked the merchants house. Begging a chance to travel with them and learn their trade, they eventually relented and in Jasper found a powerful ally, as it was around this time that his innate ability to call thunder began to appear.

Training with the group's bard for a while, he eventually learned to control the thunder within him as well as how to use his words to inspire others.

Parting ways when the group broke up (after the death of their leader to a beholder), Jasper finally decided to persue his origins, where he discovered that he was the descendant of Deidre Kendrick, the last known Chosen of Talos, the god of destructive storms.

Disgusted with the gods in general and evil gods such as Talos in particular, Jasper decided to devote his life to unraveling the schemes of cultists and heretics everywhere.

When the call went out for adventurers to stop the cultists of Bhaal, Jasper did not hesitate.

Sczarni

Here is William Fansbury.

He is an Inquisitor with trapfinding, with a pretty good disable device, Perception, and Stealth. Take it or leave it.

Looks great Wondering Monster, but Veiloria isn't actively worshipped in Realmspace. How did he get from Prophyria to Faerun?

(I know that there are - stargates - everywhere, but your background is scant.)

Should we be tying our background to the bhaalspawn plot line or will we just be stumbling into it. I am game for either

Also if selected I would love to establish a history with some or all the others. Perhaps we have traveled together before or something like that.

You can tie it up if you want. I'd like a mix.

You can be a survivor of the return of Bhaal, giving you an emotional tie to wiping out the God of Mayhem's cells of worshippers.

Ty I'll make some edits today

Added a little to my backstory, and left it open to include others, (could have been his companions on the ill fated rescue)

I'm pretty much done :3 I think.

ok.

Sczarni

I am going to withdraw from this one. I am just not feeling as excited as I had expected to.
