Eb's face breaks into a broad grin as Triba produces the stone as proof of her claim. Ha! Well done young lady! Well done and welcome aboard. That was quit a theatrical entrance you made there. You haven't seen any oozes around here have you? He peers over her head and down the corridor that the quasit and duergar can from. You don't happen to know what's down that way I suppose?

"Afraid I just got into the area, and most of what-" She pauses as a tree falls from the fire. "-I've seen is forest. Although they're be little left of that in a few more minutes."


Triba, you know that this current corridor, goes down at a gentle decline for about 90 feet then takes a sharp right turn into a pair of 30 foot by 15 foot room, separated by a "Y" in the corridor. In the eastern room a large battle between Duergar and quasit was commencing. You set the fire to cover your escape as the battle slowly progressed backwards towards current position. There are dead bodies in the rooms and corridor that is approximately 70 feet south of you.

I think there has been a bit of misperception. Although it seems we went outside on the map, we were actually going down to the next dungeon lvl. So no trees, unless of the very strange and elusive underground variant ;)

"We may not be the subtlest bunch, but we get the job done", Dolgrin said smiling a bit. He then continued while pointing at the westward corridor, "Let's first look what's down this corridor as it seems there isn't coming anything more from below."

If no-one stops him, he'll move there and starts looking around for traps/pitfalls/monsters/valuables/...

Dolgrin, travels down the corridor heading west, and notices that the cirridor goes beyond the sight of his darkvision. With the help of the light spell generated by Binx, he can see the length is around 60 feet long before turning north.

Eb shakes his head in barely contained mirth at the exchange going on behind him between Marvin and Triba as the group pushes forward to where the corridor turns north.

When Triba passed Dolgrin he stated, "Only was in front because the other guy who took point had been taking one to many hits, so be my guest. Maybe these might help when you get into trouble and I'm not fast enough to get there." Dolgrin held out the 3 pebbles he had previously enchanted with Magic Stone. "They hit harder than regular sling bullets, especially against the undead, but will only do so for the next 20 minutes. You can also just throw them if you have no sling."

"Well that is very kind of you." Triba tucks the stones into her headband, then continues forward on soft feet.

The group moves through the corridor. Nothing out of the ordinary, just plain natural stone. The group comes to a ten foot wide corner which leads to another area with smoke coming from around the corner to the north.

I'm good to keep moving on but am also wondering when we're planning to rest and recharge. I'm almost out of spells, and I'm pretty sure Eb/Dolgrim are in a similar boat.

A few things before I get to the major post. (1) After the completion of this level Thor will get a note, and will leave (2) When you all sleep, you will gain a level, so you can start adjusting your peeps as you need be and just use "level 2" stats should or when a combat arises before then ;) and (3) Any changes I need to make? Now onto the post at hand

The group continues on. They peer around the corner and they see smoke coming from the room beyond. The smoke is constant but not overbearing or choking. Faint sounds of glass breaking can be heard in random intervals, with a mad cackle and random intervals. (glass breaking and cackles don't happen together).

Binx send his minion closer to allow the other members to be able to move forward, but as is expected, all that can be seen is black plume of smoke, billowing from the room. Again, the occasional cackle and glass breaking can be hear at random intervals.

Then, out of nowhere, a glass bottle, comes flying out of the room in your general direction, and shatters against the wall above Dolgrin's head, but luckily rock wall takes the brunt of the punishment and you all smell acrid fumes in the air near where the bottle broke. It is hard to tell if the attack was on purpose or was random, because the trajectory and aim was so horrible. low bad: 1d100 ⇒ 58

actions? the gray circle is smoke, consider it equivalent to a fog cloud spell so right now nothing is visible through the cloud

There's no room for Marvin to get a view into the room, so he moved back a bit and covers the corridor to the west to make sure nothing attacks the rear.


Yes, you can begin to level to 3rd since I know that it can me a time sink at times to level peeps :)

Triba, moves forward, to see if she can get any idea of who or what is causing such havoc in the room beyond. She can't see anything, other than the smoke. As she is peering into the smoke, another bottle comes flying from the smoke infested area. The bottle, goes flying by her head and shatters against the wall. Splashing her in acid (1 point damage). This time, she is certain that it was an intentional throw, but very poorly done so.

Unsure of how to deal with the thick cloud of smoke, Eb inches forward and whispers to the others. Another mephit? More demonic imps? Maybe we can speak to what ever is in there?

Since I forgot to select languages on character creation, I'll let someone else who did try to call out to whatever is in there if they want. I'll select when I level up.

Triba bites her tongue at the acid, then moves back behind the wall. She watches carefully, waiting for the next bottle to be thrown. "I got the bottles, move in and take him down."

Holding an action. If I see another bottle come out I'll case mage hand to keep it from hitting us. If that's allowed, by logic it would work but I don't know by RAW.


RAW, not sure but I like the idea on the "outward box" thinking so I will allow it :)

Dolgrin tries to pinpoint the location of whatever is in the smoke but the cavern walks just echo the sounds of the cackling, not giving any indication of the exact location.

Binx hollers in the general direction of the cloud. "Come out or get burned!" He'll repeat this in Undercommon/Abyssal/Infernal/Draconic and then send in the skeleton.

Will its flame aura do anything to affect the cloud?


flame aura will have no effect. I am viewing the smoke cloud as more a vision obscuring effect like a giant smoke stick effect, not an obscuring mist type effect if that makes sense

Binx will call out in multiple languages, and after he speaks abyssal, you hear a voice. Binx can hear whatever the creature is start swearing and cursing.

Dolgrin moved forward slowly into the smoke, readying himself to strike at the creature when possible.

Moving into the smoke, readied action to strike back if the creature attacks him. So only get an attack if the creature attacks me first.

Hoping to either scare him into stopping or drive him into a blind rage so he comes out of the smoke. Mister Bones is still searching through the smoke and will attack if it sees a monster.

Eb listens to the unintelligible but clearly angry ranting of the creature in the smoke, and gasps melodramatically. Thorakiz! Did you hear that? I think he just called your mother a toothless pixie! Go get him big guy! ...and I do mean big...

Eb begins casting enlarge person on Thorakiz.

Binx commands Mr. Bones to enter the smoke filled room and attack what is in there. He gets a few feet into the room, spots a tiny enemy and takes a might swing at it.

The broken scimitar easily connects with the tiny annoying creature. Upon closer inspection, Dolgrin, can see that the quasit has someone busted open a tangelfoot bag, and get itself stuck to the floor unable to move.

The rest of the entourage hold their position, waiting for the all clear of more hell to break loose. The skeleton's claws, rip into the quasit, but are clearly ineffective do to the otherworldly creatures tough skin.

The quasit, retaliates against the boney creature, connecting with both its claws, but the quasits claws scrape bone, but not really connecting well with the skeletons anatomy.

3d20 + 7 ⇒ (11, 17, 4) + 7 = 39

Eb finalizes his casting, and the green orc, doubles in size...giving everyone pause for concern. Happy knowing that orc is on their side, and not an enemy.
