Will update my character info so that posts will show the Cleric archetype. Then you have a quick reference to the abilities it gives :)

Good luck. Wisdom teeth can be a pain.

Hey, sorry I haven't been on for a while. The wife's having a bad reaction to some medicine she's been taking. Severe mood swings, loss of sensation in her legs, inability to eat, that sort of thing. Suffice to say, I've been run ragged for the past 72hrs or so. Fortunately, she's on the upswing, so I should be able to resume posting tomorrow.
Dolgrin Jorthvall |
@Thorakiz, hope the surgery went/goes well.
@Binx, hope your wife gets better soon.
@Triba, glad to see you're still here with us. I am getting curious how/when you will make your appearance.
@DM Stylz, I'm very curious what is awaiting us around the bend :) & keep up the good work. I am really enjoying this PbP :)

She's doing a lot better. :-) I was actually able to go back to work today, but I'll be keeping a close eye on her for the next few days just in case she has a relapse.

To avoid any confusion: The jumbled pile of bones, does it seem as if they could form into 2 skeletons or other such undead? Don't want to look like a total freak, just smashing old bones ....
Thackery Binx |
Inside a dungeon crawl? Random bone piles ALWAYS turn into skeletons. ;-)

For some reason I usually end up playing characters who are "hyper-sensitive" when it comes to possible undead-ish things.
In an adventure path I play with some friends IRL I play a wizard who currently has disrupt undead prepared 90% of the time, due to several run ins with undead already. It has helped in several occasions, the funniest of which was when we entered a cabin somewhere, there was a guy hanging from a rope. It was very obvious that he had hung himself (hung by his neck, there lay a stool not far from him, ...) My wizard was the first one to enter with crossbow at the ready. Seeing as he was not really in the habit of trusting corpses he shot a bolt in it to see if it was "responsive". Lo and behold, it turned out to be a Ghast.
So we all stood back while I pelted it with disrupt undead.
(Apparantly it was a humanoid, with enough class lvls to turn into a Ghast, who realized he had ghoul fever and he tried to kill himself. Sadly enough for him, the ghoul fever killed him first, turning him into a Ghast who needed to hope for someone to get him out of the noose, as he did not have the strength to do that himself :))
I just don't really want to start hitting corpses/skeletons willy nilly. Some folk/races might find it "offensive" ;) That's why I asked the GM for clarification.

I recently read about an Inquisitor of Pharasma who would hit everyone with that spell. "I'm going to cast a spell on you. If you're who you appear to be, it won't do anything. If you're actually a Ghoul in disguise, however, it'll burn you."
Dolgrin Jorthvall |
Wow, that's like the 24/7 detect evil paladin ;) Although I think the inquisitor thing is more flavorful :)
Dolgrin Jorthvall |
What kind of light does our temporary undead friend shed, candle, torch, bigger?
Now we have an improvised explosive to throw at the barricade on the third floor ;-)

On page 4 of gameplay, Marvin had mentioned something about using durable arrows (a set of cold iron and a set of blunt arrows), so they shouldn't be shattering on walls/ceiling. But I just looked at his sheet and he hasn't tracked arrows yet.

I will not have access to a computer at home for about a week till a week and a half. I do still have my computer at work and an ipad at home, so I will still be able to follow, but my posting might be a bit spotty (will mostly depend on workload).
DM Stylz |
enjoy...I will probably wait until monday to get the next post up, since a few peeps are gone. I also sent off a PM to Thorakiz but have not heard back. I very well may have to dump him since DMPC him forever isn't really an option lol.
Any thoughts...try to recruit another warm body, or just continue without him. We would have 5 still, just no tank/damage output guy like he was capable of is all.
Thackery Binx |
I agree. Dolgrim hits pretty hard when he has to, Marvin does the same, and I'll eventually be summoning things when needed. We should be fine.
Thackery Binx |
No problem. Take all the time you need. :-)
Thackery Binx |
It'll take another couple levels to get effective, but I'll prep a summon spell or two when we rest.
Marvin Rogers |
OK, soliciting opinions here. I am considering either taking another ranger level or adding a level of lore warden fighter. The former gives me more skills and puts me on a path to move along my ranger abilities, the latter will give me access to all knowledge skills (handy with my 17 int) and an extra feat (plus if I pursue it, access to weapon spec and weapon training). I was thinking the knowledge would be handy since nobody here was a knowledge sort (the bard will be eventually, but right now, not so much with the 10 Int).
What do you folks think. I have both builds worked up for third level, just have to pick one.
Thackery Binx |
Um... A certain INT 20 Wizard currently has six Knowledges trained and will end up with ranks in all of them in another couple levels....
Marvin Rogers |
Oh, didn't notice that (kept seeing sorcerer). Probably no point then. I might be better off with weapon master if I do dip fighter then.
Of course I could consider pure fighter and go with a tank archer. If nothing else, wearing heavy armor will remove any temptation to scout.
Thackery Binx |
I'd recommend at least one more Ranger level so you get a Favored Terrain. That being said, archery is so feat-intensive that a Fighter dip is always helpful.
Marvin Rogers |
Also with freebooter, I don't get that much damage bonus, and since most of the party isn't weapon damage types, handing out a buff like that has a lot less force multiplier effect. I will do that ranger level (for underground terrain), but then probably work on some fighter. The fighter with spec and training can make up for my relatively low strength.
Thackery Binx |
Sounds good. :-)
