So the wolf didn't get past the Parry.
Initiative (start of round 3)
Alex : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 356
Arabella : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 640
Connor : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 177
K'Don : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 659
Marko : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 147
WindDancer : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 489
Katana : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 670
Rigellian : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 494
Velantian : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 28
So in order : Katana, K'Don, Arabella, Rigellian, WindDancer, Alex, Connor, Marko, and the Velantian gets a Joker!
Status
The Rigellian has 2 Wound and is Shaken
The Velantian has 2 Wounds and is Shaken AND PRONE
Marko has 1 Wound
Connor has 1 Wound
DM has 8 Bennies
---------------------------------------
The Rigellian is Parry=7, Toughness=9
The Velantian is Parry=8, Toughness=10
ZenFox42 |
The Velantian takes his action first to get up from prone, then he tries to recover his senses :
Spirit & Wild: 1d8 ⇒ 81d6 ⇒ 1 = 8 (no point in Acing)
So he can act. At +2 attack and damage...
Attacking Marko :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 101d6 ⇒ 1
Explode: 1d10 ⇒ 5 = 15 +2(Joker) = 17 vs. Marko's Parry=5 is 3 Raises
Damage: 2d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 8) + (5) = 15
Explode: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Explode: 1d8 ⇒ 4 +2(Joker) = 29! vs. Marko's Toughness=4 is 6 Wounds
Marko is about to take 6 Wounds, I would suggest you spend a Bennie or 2 to Soak.
Attacking Connor :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 3 = 3 +2(Joker) = 5 vs. Connor's Parry=4 is a Success
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 8) = 12
Explode: 1d8 ⇒ 6 = 18 +2(Joker) = 20 vs. Connor's Toughness=4 is 4 Wounds
Ditto for Connor!
Marko and Connor, I'd suggest still saving 1 Bennie for a better roll on the Incapacitation table. You can't re-roll a snake-eyes (=death), but you could avoid permanent wounds and/or Bleeding Out.
For future reference, PC's with Parries and Toughnesses of 4 shouldn't get into melee battles! I know neither player designed your PC, and the enemy came to you, but I'm just sayin'...
If y'all survive this, and want to re-design your hand-me-down PC's, I would be fine with that.
Anyone with one of the stun guns, they are not working yet this round.
Katana42 |
Katana switches her attack to the Velantian, since it is doing the most damage :
Throwing & Wild: 1d8 ⇒ 81d6 ⇒ 2
Explode: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Explode: 1d8 ⇒ 7 = 23 vs. Velantian's Parry of 8 is 3 Raises
Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 4) + (6) = 13
Explode: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Sheesh!
Explode: 1d6 ⇒ 6 OMG!
Explode: 1d6 ⇒ 2 = 27 vs. Toughness=10 is 4 Wounds
Trying to Soak :
Vigor & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 3 Doesn't even soak a single one
Katana's "shuriken" hits the hideous dragon-snake nightmare right smack in the middle of his forehead, cracking his skull and splattering brains all over Connor and Marko.
What a pity the Velantian got the Joker, or Katana could've prevented Connor's and Marko's wounds...
DM has 7 Bennies
ZenFox42 |
Actually, the 8 is a Success and Raise, which Soaks 2 Wounds. But that's not enough, as Marko takes 4 Wounds on top of his already existing Wound.
The hideous snake-dragon's barbed tail punches a huge hole into Marko's abdomen, and with a very surprised look on his face, he drops to the ground.
Marko - now make a single Vigor roll (no penalties) to survive. Snake-eyes means you're dead.
K'Don - you are currently grappled by the Rigellian, AND Shaken. Roll to recover from Shaken, and if you do, then make a Strength roll to try and break free.
Also, Trademark Weapon only adds +1 to your Fighting, not your Damage.
Arabella Stormworth-Darling |
By my reading of the rules, the vigor roll for incapacitation is made immediately after receiving the wound. So it won't help the characters who were wounded (Connor and Marko) to have their vigor die raised by the bioergoggs. If this is not correct, let me know.
Arabella turns her attention to helping K'Don. She already has the agility crystal in the goggles, so she uses the goggles to boost his agility die. This will help him break free from the tentacle. Before doing so, however, she moves back to the door to try to put herself out of range of the tentacles.
weird science: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Wild Ace: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Result = 7, success.
Any other result on the Ace would have resulted in a raise and an extra die type increase. So close.
So she spends 3 power points and K'Don's Agility die is a d12 for the next three rounds.
Bioergoggs have 2 power points left (she only spent 5 power points earlier, since she would not have given Marko a boost if he doesn't have a gun).
K'Don Son of Ugal of HouseUshah |
Recover from shaken Spirit: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 5
3+2 (Combat Reflexes) = 5
I suppose Agility is the better choice.
Agility: 1d12 ⇒ 5
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 5
since everything is greater than a 4 I assume K'Don can attack.
Fighting: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 4
6+1(favored Weapon)=7 is a tie
Damage: 2d10 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10 maybe a success
ZenFox42 |
The Rigellian tries to hold on to K'Don (vs. TN=5) :
Strength & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 4
And fails to do so! K'Don is no longer grappled, but since you didn't get a Raise on this roll, you don't get to act at all.
The Rigellian changes tactics and tries to just smack K'Don with one of his tentacles :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 3
And misses completely.
Waiting to hear from WindDancer and Alex (now that the bad guys have acted).
Connor needs to Soak and/or make an Incapacitation roll.
Marko got dropped before he could act.
Alexander James Taarnfalk |
"Surrender or suffer the same fate, monster!" Alex yelled at the tentacle-drum, but he didn't move to attack. Instead, he knelt by Connor, keeping an eye on the alien out of the corner of his eye, but doing his best to stop Connor's bleeding. For the first time, his face showed how much he cared about the boy as he looked down on the red ruin of his body.
Is it even possible to try an untrained Heal check, or is that a really bad idea? Or Aid another for his Soak, or something?
ZenFox42 |
Marko - that's a Success, so you get an injury that goes away when all your Wounds are healed.
Since I declared for flavor that you got hit in the abdomen, I'm not rolling on the Injury table, but will make a d6 roll for being hit in the Guts :
Injury: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Strength reduced by a die type. Not applicable.
Injury: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Same result.
Injury: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Phooey! The only die you have on that sub-table that isn't already a d4 is your Vigor, so it is reduced to d4.
Connor Τaarnfalk |
After three attempts to damage him with no success, I think DiceBot is trying to tell you Marko got lucky and managed to avoid injury. :op
Connor cries out...
Burning a Benny to soak, 3 Bennies remaining
Vigor & Wild: 1d6 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 21d6 - 3 ⇒ (3) - 3 = 0 => 2, Failure
Burning a Benny to re-roll, 2 Bennies remaining
Vigor & Wild: 1d6 - 3 ⇒ (4) - 3 = 11d6 - 3 ⇒ (6) - 3 = 3
Boom!: 1d6 ⇒ 1+3=4, Success
So that puts him at three Wounds and Shaken, correct?
... and staggers back into the wall, then slides to the floor.
Can he make a Spirit roll versus the Shaken and potentially still act this round, or is he done?
ZenFox42 |
-Regarding Marko - no, the rolls were to determine the *kind* of injury that he had already definitely attained. Had I looked at Marko's stats first, I would have seen there was no point in rolling, Vigor was the only option.
-Connor had 1 Wound, and was about to take 4. The Success made the 4 Wounds 3, for a total of 4, and Connor's now Incapacitated.
Please make an Incapacitation roll to find out the results (snake-eyes = death).
WіndDancer |
With the Velantian down and Connor injured, I can't see WindDancer doing anything but focusing on her friend.
Making an arc to return for a second attack, she shudders and wobbles in mid-air as Con-nor is hit and her little-big's pain is reflected across their mental link. A cry of concern and indignation, the fast big destroys the crawly-thing, and she veers away from the dying corpse towards Con-nor.
She lands on her little-big's stomach, eyes big, worried gaze repeatedly shifting from her One to Con-nor's big and back again.
"Nnnkaaalllkz hhhrp Knnn nnnrrr!"

Dammit, I had an edit to my previous post where Katana attacked the Rigellian with a "shuriken", got a Raise on the attack, but the damage did not get thru Toughness.
But I forgot to Submit, and the web page not only timed out, but wouldn't go back to my edit page to copy-and-paste the results. So I'm just stating here that's what happened.
Arabella Stormworth-Darling |
Is Arabella's gun working yet?
Arabella glances at her shiny, strange gun. She gives is a little shake and looks for signs that it is recovering, marveling at a gun that can repair itself.
WіndDancer |
GM, just FYI the dice aren't going to change on you any time soon, so if you want to post up that missing bit in a separate message, you'll get the same end result. But I'm fine with taking your word for it.
Actually, you might want to go ahead and do that to burn off those rolls. Otherwise -- barring a really long real-time delay (presuming that even works anymore) -- if she attacks the same way the next round she'll get the same result, which would sort of cheat you.
Arabella Stormworth-Darling |
Seeing her gun working again, Arabella slides back into the room, keeping to the south wall until she's in the corner and then waits for a good moment to shoot. I'll wait until K'Don's action resolves before actually rolling the attack.
Arabella Stormworth-Darling |
K'Don: I think you're trying for Wild Attack, which reduces your Parry but gives you a +1 to hit and Damage. So it looks like you got a 7 to hit (equals Parry) but no raise, so only a 6 for damage (< toughness).
Arabella will attempt to hit the thing with her gun.
I seem to remember, but can't find the exact post, that the Rigellian is depicted as 4 squares big because of the tentacles. If it still counts as a large creature, she'll take the +2 to hit and not worry about a called. If she needs to do the called shot to a tentacle, she'll take the penalty to hit that to avoid hitting K'Don. I'm marking the rolls with the +2, but adjust the bonuses if a called shot is needed.
Large creature: +2
Shooting: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Result = 3 + 2 (large) = 5, which beats the TN of 4, for a success.
Non-lethal Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Damage Ace: 1d6 ⇒ 4
(6 + 4) + 2 = 12 vs. Toughness of 9, so success but no raise.
ZenFox42 |
Marko - in the RAW you can "drop" all your spells by being Shaken or Wounded, so when you become Incapacitated they definitely all go away.
K'Don - a Wild Attack is +2 Fighting, +2 Damage, -3 Parry.
So it looks like your best attack was a 7, which equals his Parry.
Roll your damage.
Arabella, holding on your result until K'Don's damage.
Assuming that the Rigellian will at least be Shaken :
Spirit & Wild: 1d8 ⇒ 21d6 ⇒ 2
Spending a Benny to be able to attack :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 81d6 ⇒ 4 = 8 vs K'Don's Parry of 6-3=3 is a Success and a Raise (thanks to the Wild Attack!)
Damage: 2d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 6) + (6) = 14
Explode: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Oy!
Explode: 1d6 ⇒ 5 = 25 vs. K'Don's Toughness of 9 is 4 Raises
K'Don is about to take 4 Wounds, which would make him Incapacitated.
If you have any Bennies left, I'd suggest you try to Soak some of that.
But, all of the above is dependent on the results from K'Don's Damage roll.
Status
Everyone but K'Don has +1 Parry and Toughness
The Rigellian has 2 Wound and is Shaken
Marko has 1 Wound
DM has 6 Bennies

The Rigellian is Parry=7, Toughness=9
ZenFox42 |
K'Don's simple Success would Shaken the Rigellian, normally causing a Wound, but no such Wound happens (Hardy monstrous ability).
Yep, a 5 is a Success, removing 1 Wound, so now K'Don has 3 Wounds and is Shaken.
Arabella's success would also only cause Shaken, so no change.
The Rigellian acts as posted above.
Now Alex can act.

FFS, Paizo, stop eating my posts!
Alexander breathed a sigh of relief when he found a pulse still beating in Connor's neck. Then a scowl crept over his face as he clambered over the dead snake-thing, circling the wolf Marko had summoned until he had a good shot. He raised both guns and let loose at the barrel-thing.
stungun: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
wild: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
Alex was supposed to be next to Connor last turn, so this turn he'll move his Pace north of Connor and shoot.
