Patrick, I like the game and the characters but there is little roleplaying going on. Maybe a dungeon bash isn't best for a pbp? I'm not sure about that.

It would be a shame to see this go the way of the dodo. Mainly because I read some of your other games and would like this to match up to the City of Opal, for instance, which has a far higher posting rate.

And its important that you want to run this. Do you? I know you are a busy chap so maybe we should let this one go....

The bottom line is that I had no intention of dropping out but this is a group decision. And most, if not, all of us are in other games, plenty of games in my case.

My tuppence worth.

Thanks FW. The game is important to me, I wanted to get the mechanics of the game down better as I am a Narrativist at heart and I always have a hard time getting the dice rolling in proper line. You have to remember that I was an inactive gamer during most of the 3E era, and thought I faithfully bought the books monthly, I never got the 'real time' DM experience. Add onto that the everchanging Pathfinder environment, and I figured this would be a good place to hash out all the kinks in my gameplay. I figured it'd be a good place for everyone to get used to Pathfinder's idiosyncracies as well.

That being said, this game is difficult for me precisely because it is so anti-Narrativist that it doesn't play to my strengths. I'm more than happy to stick it out, I just want to make sure that everybody is still interested. It is a dungeon crawl, but we can always take a break and travel to Stoneroot for some interaction and character development.

It's y'alls call.

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

I am for sticking it out.

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

In the end Patrick it's your call..there's good arguments on both sides.maybe if the dungeon had been smaller..but a mega dungeon even with returns to town leaves us little scope...especially as it's such a trek to and from the place.

Let's at least finish the kobolds off and then regroup to see who we have left.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Perhaps I could keep the model and just switch to a Wilderness-style format, which would leave more roleplaying options.

OUCH! Dude I hope all is OK, I was worried about you since you'd been gone. Jump in whenever you feel comfortable

Mark, that sounds awful. Take Care

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

Welcome back Mark..hope you're well on the mend

(RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16)

Thanks guys.

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

Just a heads up that I'll be heading off to Paizocon UK next Friday and wont be back till the following Monday...I doubt I'll be posting at any time over that weekend..

(RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16)

Hey guys, spent the last 2 days driving from New York to Kanasas. My wife's mom is dying. I'll post when I can just to get my mind on something else.

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

Mark, sorry to hear about your wife's mom. Take your time posting, RL is always more important.

As a note, I think the only person we have really lost is KMD. They haven't posted in over a month, so I am guessing the interest isn't there anymore. The question is, do we have Svetla fall in a pit and find a replacement? Or do we muddle on with Svetla as an NPC? I personally dislike running PbP NPCs, so I am partial to the first solution. If we don't want to kill off Svetla entirely we can take a 'break' in Stoneroot, giving you guys a chance to resupply.

Give me your opinions please..

Osirion (male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller)

I say we go back to town, soon. she can leave and a replacement can be found if needed.

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

My Condolences Mark..

Pat..

I'm happy with whatever fate you come up with for Svetla... and losing one of our two real fighters would be excuse enough to return to the city

(RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16)

Thanks guys. She passed yesterday. Great lady, glad I got to know her.

Going back to town sounds good if we need another blade.

Five arrows = Stoneroot.

Cheers

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

Patrick..
On the subject of Dungeon crawls and how to maintain character interaction whilst doing them you might want to take a look at thegame I'm running on these boards if you haven't already.

I'm hoping French Wolf and I will be able to talk a bit about this game at Paizocon UK and come up with some ideas..it's always easier face to face than on line.

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

Thanks for the input guys. Wellard, I will check out your PbP, I have been so busy keeping up with my own I haven't checked out anyone else's in a while.

I think a trip to Stoneroot would be good. I am thinking of handwaving the travel and just getting you back there for a bit.

Maybe we could be waved to just outside. The entry and the inevitable taxes have to be dealt with, either honourably or by hiding certain items outside of town....

I reckon we do need some variety, but as a dungeon hack this is very good, especially your mapping and use of a gelatinous cube.

Thinking on it, most of the guys playing are in lots of other games and perhaps this one suffers because of that?

Not sure about that one.

Cheers

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

I think Wolf has a point there I have to admit this is pretty low in my priority list for posting...just above PHDs Cthulu game which moves with the speed of a inverted Flumph

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

Yes, pretty much everyone in this game has lots of other games, and I will admit that the fact that this game is so against my normal DMing grain that it is fourth on my list of games I'm running.

Be that as it may, I still think this game has use in getting to know the rules a bit in a low-stress environment. I have 18 full maps already done, so we could spend plenty of time in here.

I think I will handwaive you all to Stoneroot's gates as FW suggests. A bit of Rping and then a nice trek back up the mountain ...

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

OK, you all are at Stoneroot's gates. Assume that anything you need can be found there. Ware the tax collectors!

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

hey thats my line..lol

Sorry, I was a bit frazzled after the Con. DMing six then seven then eight plus two wolves plus lack of good sleep meant I could have done without work yesterday.

Anyway I,m back and posting now.

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

Sorry we didn't get a chance to introduce ourselves to each other FW..maybe next time. It was a pretty intense weekend wasn't it

Very with only short breaks so I found it gruelling, next time I hope to get more chance to talk, probably over a curry. There were several friends I've met at several cons over the years and I barely got to talk to them.

It didn't help that I only arrived Sat lunchtime and the whole thing was in full swing.

Were you at the large breakfast table on Sunday am? I may have spoken to you when I arrived late on. I was the one with the yellow t-shirt that had "anything but a 1" on the back.

Cheers

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

I was staying with Dabbler through in Gloucester, we arrived late on Sunday Amand had to get stuck straight into Skeleton Moon...I was the 4'11" female fighter in Wintergreens game and the subject of a string of parasol jokes...it was a lot off fun because we managed to maintain the same party(pretty much) for the first 4 sessions which let us develop good character interaction..and then off course we did Third Riddle at the end with no casters and walked it...which was a pretty damned good showing.

I'm hoping to make game con in Manchester for a day in October..but I only intend to do one seesion there if I do go to get my girl to 3rd level

Hey Wellard and Patrick, my posting will be spotty, I have run into some issues in RL.

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

Hey all.

Now that we are in town, it seems a good time to reshuffle the party, and perhaps recruit some new blood. I am going to leave it up to individuals what they want to do. I realize this game has kinda stuttered, so I am hoping bringing in a few newcomers will perk it up. I know Larcifer/Ingra is having some serious RL issues right now, so I am going to DMPC Ingra for now. KMD/Svetla seems to have fallen straight off the map, so we'll probably need a replacement for her. Everyone else I assume still wants to go forward. If anyone wants to drop out for any reason, now is the time. Also, give me some input on how many new folks you think we should invite.

I think shuffling the pack is a good thing.

But as for how many that is difficult to say, maybe enough to bring it back up to eight, including Ingrahild.

Personally I am wondering how keen some of the guys are when they aren't posting much at all. Especially when you are putting the effort in. I'd much rather see some renewed energy from replacements than more stuttering play.

Cheers

Osirion (RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32)

Patrick, I would very much like to get back ontrack with the game.

I'm sorry I allowed this to happen to your game. I'd gotten sick sometime around April or May and was still reading the posts, but not adding to them while sick. Then I admit I got a little sidetracked, trying to get a game going with my in-town friends. After awhile I'd come across one of the two game threads and realize I needed to get back on track, but I would put it off until I could "catch up" with the threads or until after I got the sleep I needed before I went into work.

I was a procrastinating bastard. I make no excuses for my procrastinating bastardship, especially after seeing that my last post is about 125 posts ago. But, I will try to post at least three times a week if I'm allowed to stay in the game. I will also offer my services. I'll do Harrow Readings for any of the replacement players you get whether I'm back in the game or not.

KissMeDarkly wrote:

KMD, I don't see a problem with this. However, I would please ask you if you are going to have an exented absence for any reason to please post it up. RL happens, it's happened to everyone here. We'll understand if you can't post, it just makes the game lag when we're waiting for replies.

Seeker you still out there? You game to stay in?

Osirion (male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller)

Sorry All I have had major RL issue that has kept me away from the PC. I will try to get something posted up when I can.

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

OK, I see Svetla's back in. Seeker is MIA, but I am assuming still eanting to stay. Someone needs to be treasure keeper, so we don't get all bollixed up again. You can pretty much buy anything you want at Stoneroot, long as it's under 50K.

Osirion (male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller)

will catch up, on what I have missed and post in a day or so man, sorry bout that

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

No worries, my schedule is kinda messed up right now. You are in Stoneroot, feel free to regroup and we can go Orc hunting in a few.

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

OK. Anyone else have errands in Stoneroot? I'd like to try and get you back to killing stuff before the game 404s totally. Anyone not interested in continuing, please give me a note. I am considering opening up enrollment, and I want to see who is still interested.

So far (By my understanding):

KMD: Still interested, but spotty posting
Vulcan: Interested?
Wellard: Interested
FW: Interested
Seeker: Interested, but spotty posting
Larcifer: Sidelined by horrible RL concerns. DMPCed for now
Rimrock: Still interested.

I am considering adding 1-3 characters. Your thoughts?

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

To be blunt Patrick..I'm thinking about taking part on a council of thieves game once i can find one on offer..probably next week..if that happens I'll have to drop something and unfortunately this looks like the game that will have to go.

Sorry

Osirion (RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32)

Still interested. I was actually waiting to see where the conversation at the inn about orc or necro hunting was heading before posting Svetla's actions in town.

Qadira (DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE)

Wellard wrote:

Sorry

OK, understandable. Sad to lose you, you were one of the more consistent posters.

Losing Sondergang would be a bit of a blow, but that is what flighty fly by night dwarves are like..

Seriously I'll miss you Wellard, when and if, you go.

Pat, I think you are right, you do need to recruit a few more to build some momentum.

Osirion (male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller)

sorry for being spotty pat, just had alot going on and was away from the pc for 2 weeks having a hard time catching up to all my games.

sorry about that

Osirion (male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller)

hey pat are we gonna switch rule sets? The SRD is out so converting should be easy

Yep upgrade to Pathfinder ..

Osirion (male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller)

one other thing, sorry Its been hectic trying to get on the same page and up my posting but are we level 3?

Divel is, but in the wrong edition of PF...

I'll get round to it as soon as I get a break from starting up my homebrew game. Should be by the weekend.

Cheers
