Vannevar follows after Silian, stopping in the doorway of the crowded bedroom. He watches passively as the others try to subdue the man. When he sees the cat trying to follow Silian into the room, he picks it up with one hand and whispers to it before handing it to Tava. "Keep it out of the way, for it's own safety, please."
Holding the cat in one massive hand, Tava lifts it up to her nose, next to her tusked mouth to sniff it. Not smelling like food she simple tries to hold it and make it not scratch her.

The elf raises an eyebrow at Garotte and his lip twitches in an amused smile. "My squad. Right. Part of guarding the hallway involves letting those inside know when someone might be coming this direction. Are you refusing to allow me to do that, or to pass that message along? Does your squad trust you?" He doesn't bother to wait for an answer before turning to walk back to his post, he leans against the wall with his arms crossed and one knee bent so his foot can rest on the wall.

With the combined strength of Jess and the Changeling fellow, Silian is able to get the man's writs bound.

The half-orc sighs and pops the joints of her neck, continuing to wait.
The elf whistles lightly to get Garotte's attention and signals that others are indeed coming up the stairs.

With the man now secured, Jess delivers another punch to the man's broken nose and then covers his mouth to muffle his scream of agony. "Aww, what's the matter Mr. Big Strong Man? Don't like to be made helpless? Don't like to be beaten?" She hisses between clenched teeth.
The changeling moves up near Jess, and Jacob's eyes grow wide as he sees the changeling's pale skin and smooth, near featureless face. He redoubles his efforts to squirm and try to free himself. The changeling shoves a piece of cloth into the man's mouth to keep him from making too much noise.

At the moment, rounds aren't really necessary since Jacob is bound so people are free to move about and act as they will until I need to roll initiative again.
The elf looks back over his shoulder and sees that Akasha is now standing outside looking militant as well. He shakes his head and swiftly moves back down to stand near Akasha and Garotte. "Relax, smile, and laugh. We're here because Jacob's throwing a party," he tells Akasha before laughing raucously himself.
DM Twilight |
The man doesn't seem to be anymore cowed by Silian's comments than he already was. Instead, he fights against his bonds and glares at those who remain in the room with him. Jess punches him again and tells him to be still. The changeling chuckles quietly at Jess' violence.
Meanwhile, outside of the apartment a man and a woman soon reach the top of the stairs and, engaged in their own conversation, do little more than glance your way before entering their apartment next to Jacob's.
DM Twilight |
Jess and the changeling move Jacob to the floor, where they begin to kick and punch the man with abandon. After a few good kicks, the changeling leaves the room and sends the half-orc in to take a turn.
OK, so at this point Jess and her friends are beating a restrained and defenseless man to death. What are you doing? Staying out of their way? Taking a turn beating the guy up? What?
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Silian, can you find out if he is guilty. If he is, then he should die, but if he isn't then they have the wrong person.
Jonah then heads back towards the front.
DM Twilight |
Akasha, his hands do bear signs of wear and tear through whether it be from beating a woman to death or honest work you cannot tell.
Jonah, Jessamin looks at you with fire in her eyes and you are suddenly quite sure that she has no intention of waiting to exact her justice, and anyone who tries to stop her will find a fight. The time for attempting to question this man's innocence has long passed in her eyes.
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Jonah looks back at Jess.
Do you know for sure he did it, or are you only assuming he did it.
he pauses for a second.
If he did, as I said, he is yours, but if he didn't, then he may know who did or else you may be beating an innocent man to death.
You do want the guilty one, do you not?
Silian d'Thuranni |
Gritting his teeth, "You foolish rector," Silian spits. "You agree to accompany this entourage, knowing full well the intention, and now that blood has been shed you seek to pontificate and preach? This is Sharn... if evangelism is your aim you are in the wrong city. Shall we wait while you pry a confession from this bastard's lips? Would you care to hear my sins next, Father? Stay the course and help, or stop hindering revenge. I shall be sure to let the next Watchman I see know that you are guilty only of trespass and accomplice, that should ease your stained conscience."
DM Twilight |
Jess grits her teeth and snarls, only holding her tongue and her temper because Silian spoke up on her behalf. Instead she turns her attention back to the bound man, whom she kicks in the ribs and abdomen several more times. She then shoves her way past Jonah and goes to the front door where she peers out and says to her elf companion. "He probably can't take much more, have at him now before it's too late. Beware the one called Jonah, he's developing a conscious."
The elf nods and moves past Garotte, and into the apartment. He spares a moment to glance around at everyone who is standing guard before heading into the bedroom. He squats down next to Jacob, and grabs a hold of his torn and bloodied shirt trying to get the man to focus on him. Jacob seems on the cusp of consciousness and barely able to focus, the elf slaps him smartly across his face and hisses, "Look at me! She was our family, my cousin, and you took her from us. Why? Because she was not what you thought she was? You felt deceived and that warranted her death?"
Jacob shakes his head left to right and it seems he might be trying to speak. The elf says, "Scream and I will make sure this lasts until the sun rises." He then removes the gag from Jacob's mouth.
The man sobs, blood and slobber drip down his chin, "I didn't mean to... I didn't, I don't know what happened, why I got so angry but I swear she was alive when I left her."

"Yes, alive enough to die in an alley in fear. Alive enough ti die realizing that the piece of $#!+ she was unlucky enough to love was nothing but a bigoted scumbag." Akasha says, her eyes flashing in anger.
She moves closer fists clenched. "That poor girl died in my arms you sick pig. Because you couldn't control yourself?!" she looks to Jess, asking her permission. She would not interfere with the vengence of the girl's family but she was filled with a need to make this bastard suffer.
"Do you know what her last words were you little $#!+?"
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Common street preacher, you insult me. I am not one to Evangelize, nor Preach.
Jonah pauses and takes a breath
As I stated from the beginning, If this man is guilty, then yes punish him, and I will care less.
My concern is not from squeamishness, nor compassion, I just wish to see that we have the guilty one, and not one that YOU THINK might be guilty.
That has been the point that I have been trying to make.
He then points at the bound man.
Let him be damned or freed by his own words and hear what he has to say.
Akasha |
Akasha growls at the man. "But you did din't you? You didn't realize how badly you hurt her? Just lost control did you?" the magus slips the gag back in his mouth as she hisses an arcane phrase, electricity crackling over her hand.
"Her last words.....I....THOUGHT.....HE....LOVED.....ME!" she says before grabbing his face.
Shocking grasp: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
DM Twilight |
The man shakes his head, trying to fight the gag, tears start to stream down his face as he makes out the choked, final words, "Oh gods, please no."
Akasha feels his face, hot and slick with blood beneath her palm as she takes from him his the last beat of his heart.
DM Twilight |
Jess kicks the dead man in the ribs once more before spitting on his corpse. She then holds her hand out to Akasha to help her stand and says, "I'm sorry that you got pulled into this, but thank you for standing with me through it."
She looks to Silian, "And you, thank you for being here and for what you said to your friend."
Vannevar DMNPC |
Vannevar speaks up from the bedroom doorway, "I hope that you are able to find peace now, Jessamin." There is not the faintest hint of judgement in his voice.
"What do you wish to be done with his body? Shall we leave it here for the neighbors to find, or risk moving it elsewhere?"

Silian mutters, "If only rats could eat all of my enemies." Silian looks about the apartment while the others decide, seeing if the abuser had anything of worth or anything that might aid in his post-mortum destruction.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Silian is able to find a set of masterwork artisan's tools, artisan's clothing, a coin purse tucked away in a drawer with the clothing containing 120 gp, a locket with a picture of a human young woman, and several love letters written to Jacob that are signed with the name Sarah.
