Kaylayne, in her supreme confidence, rests for the round to allow for the party to shine. Ederin manages to sweep purple free of mirror images. Dimitrio pummels the demon for over a hundred points of damage! Lief opens up on green doing a little damage, and reducing its protection further. Allarnon digs in and finds red once, and a few images too, while Tarkir connects once for a little more damage.

The Glabrezu again casts defensively.

Kaylayne spends another round examining the combat from the air. Ederin almost takes down purple with his first critical, and plants it with his second. He takes his last two attacks on green. Dimitrio also decides to watch the fun as the combat winds down. Lief drops his rapier as he shudders to a halt, the blade inches from the edge of the platform and the deep blood lake… Allarnon digs into red, banishing its remaining images and drawing a little blood besides.

Doggedly, the demons press their attacks, doing what they can with what little time they have left.

After she regains her senses, she acts to answer Lief's questions.

"Let me see what the leaves might whisper back to me."

Kaylayne will send half (6) of her remaining leaves to scout, again in pairs, and one is to return if the other is destroyed. Prying Eyes again to see what is up ahead while others heal.

The party neither sees nor hears anything moving. The slow gurgling of the blood lake and flickering of the magical lights is all you sense.

How long do you stand here waiting for the leaves to return? With a 30' movement, if you want the leaves to crisscross the area (again) it could be an hour or two at least before they finish any pattern covering a mile radius.

If you just send them out to their limit and back in six directions, it'll still take 40 minutes for them to return. Also, aside from the road, all is dark as far as you can see, and the leaves cannot see in the dark.

Let me know the plan. You are not bothered for the first few moments so you can heal and prepare.

"Well, I got arrows in...that one, and that one, and this one over 'ere, so, I think I did my part." The archer flashes a grin at Dimitrio, glad the bard at least has not given in to melancholy.

So, I forgot about the benefits of heroes feast, it's possible others might have as well. We'd all have gone into that fight with +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and Will saves and a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against poison and fear effects for 12 hours, plus our Temp Hit Points. I'll try to leave up a reminder at the start of the next fight.

Kaylayne's leaves go out and return in about five minutes. She learns that there are no moving creatures along the roadway, and nothing beyond that in the darkness. You are likely alone.

The doors are well carved, with a myriad of demonic symbology, but no magical or physical traps. Lief opens the doors easily to reveal a long, straight hallway, empty except for the friezes of a strange part-snake, part-bird demon carved into the stone walls on either side. Tangled coils of softly glowing runes wind along the walls in dense patterns between these carvings, filling the hall with shadowy light. Two matched sets of doors stand closed on either side of the corridor, with a set of double doors at the end of the hallway.

You see and hear nothing untoward in the hallway, and nothing detects as magic ahead.

Dimitrio puts away the healing stick and enters the hallway, "We should check the doors on both sides before we go too far forward. I don't want to get caught by anything from behind."

"I think we'll be fighting through every room as well. However, hopefully it's no more piddlespotting demons," Kaylayne responds to Ederin and his good work. "But I don't think we're sneaking anywhere. I think they knew we were coming...they had their mirrors up. The demons knew."

Lief imagines the hordes waiting behind all four doors, so begins to grant each another casting of Displacement. He hits Kaylayne, then Ederin, then himself, then Dimitrio, then Allarnon. Clicking the wand back into its wrist holster, he moves to the first door on the left, and looks through it with his Aura Sight. He raises two fingers, then clenches his fist and pumps his bicep, indicating strength.

He looks at each of the others, pointing to the other doors to indicate keeping an eye on all of them, then opens the door.

Three metal-framed beds dressed in sumptuous black bedsheets sit in this room astride low personal shrines carved to resemble writhing snakes. A single table with three chairs sits in the center of the room, a small stone coffer sitting at its center. Softly glowing runes, thousands of them in all, decorate the walls.

The two drow are surprised as the door is flung open. They are wearing chain mail and wielding shortswords and wands...

Lief opens the next door to reveal two more drow. Allarnon double moves down the hall to make a perimeter while Tarkir hits one of the drow once. Kaylayne tosses a little ball of fire at the drow Tarkir is wounding, damaging her a little.

The two doors further down the hall open and more drow, equally dressed, pour out.

The two drow by Tarkir, step back and cast Unholy Blight, centered on the party (effects everyone except Allarnon). Two Will DC 18 saves to take half of damage: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 7) = 13 plus damage: 4d8 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 4) = 14 and avoid the sickened condition for 1d4 rounds (if you fail both saves, take the longer duration, don’t add the durations). If you’re Neutral, take 1/2 or 1/4 on a save, and no sickness.

Down the hall, the two white drow opened the doors and ran out into the hall. The red drow run outside (all four provoke from Allarnon with their movement not expecting him to have combat reflexes) and do the same to Allarnon that their mates did to the rest of the party.
