I apologize everyone I will have to step back from this project. My life is becoming too busy for me to handle all of my projects and so I have to cut back on some. I will keep the campaign and map up but I won't be participating in this project anymore. I'm sorry for the trouble.
Damn. I was worried about that. You have my sympathies, Hex. I know how it can be when EVERYTHING happens at once in RL.
Thanks for keeping things up.
If the others don't object, I would like to see if everyone else is okay with continuing this 'by committee' as it were.
Karmesh |
Sorry to hear that, Hexavos! But thanks for giving us a heads up.
I'd be on board to continue this as a group, we managed pretty good so far I think. If at any point we come across a problem, we could simply vote on it. I also offer my services to produce a "real" map in Photoshop once we get to a point where that might come in handy.
Nimeton |
I am having a blast with this pbp, I would like to continue it. A huge thank you to Hexavos for starting this! Hopefully Real Life slows down for you and you can join us again.

Okay, five players IS a majority. So I suggest it is now Round 3.
First come first serve seems to be working, but if anyone has a preference for who goes first, feel free to propose it to the rest of us. I think some folks are going to prefer to go later than others anyway to better react, while others will be jumping on it fast.
Omaz Almas |
Okay, Omaz Almas just tried to make a peninsula but it's kind of a wimpy one. I've discovered I SUCK at drawing new maplines with this thing and am even worse at making ever green designs :)
If anyone wants to redraw it better (Not as their turn, just for consistency and quality) feel free. I'm not sure about the symbols used for evergreens and the like.
Nyakushuur |
Belisous, are your Strix as per the PF Bestiary entry, or do they have custom traits? I think we should totally do a creature compendium once this world has progressed an age or two, currently I am writing entries on my undead flora.

Very nice! I had something similar in mind with Karmesh, but I will go a slightly different route now. We don't really have an underworld/deity of the dead right now, do we? I think the whole concept of what happens to the mortal races in death is somewhat important for the later ages, anyone with some ideas?

I have an idea. *mwahahaha!*

I think Karmesh and maybe Pyreous are the only ones who haven't gone for round/turn 3 as of this post? Well, Pyreous gathered but took no action?
..............
I have a few ideas for the afterlife as well. I think, in the other game, events were used for planes and such. An afterlife might require the same. And we could probably have more than one. Nimeton, for example, seems to be into reincarnation for himself, maybe he'll want it for others :)
Karmesh |
Sorry to keep you waiting. Since the dice hate me, Karmesh creates some more lands and is done for this round.
EDIT: I started a design document on GoogleDrive where we can collect writeups and more details on the world than this game allows for. I PMed Tobaris to put the link into the game description, but in case anyone is interested you can access the file here.
Karmesh |
Fill in to your heart's content! I don't have any grand visions right now, but the basic idea was that we may end up with a somewhat "complete" homebrew world we can release on the messageboards, so we could really do writeups on our deities and whatnot similar to the Paizo materials. But for now I think collecting ideas and raw writeups is more than enough, we have a game to play after all :)
Nimeton |
Race 4 on the board, desert dwelling insects, I guess I should think about stats and abilities. Nimeton should be finished with land shaping now there is sentience on the world
Dyrm |
Hope you like the Vesper, Belisous. As far as alignment shifts go, I picture them being encouraged towards the chaotic side by their new patron but they're still neutral ..for now.
I also had a hard time figuring out who their leaders or what their style would be, so hence all the 'dreamer' talk. I may build on that for them in the future and it could be a major cultural difference between them and their forefathers.
And yes, they're sealed away, but that's only for this turn/500 years. Eventually they may come out but I figure it will take a few centuries for the transformation in the first place :)
Belisous |
Something needs to be around to be destroyed as I always say. Not particularly happy that they are underground, but they can still fly which is the important part, but Belisous can't be angry at Dyrm for too long he's too much fun.

We'll try to free them up soonish then. :) Reintroduce them to their cousins and see how the two get along.

Or create yet another subrace to increase the potential for conflict. Strix, Vesper, and a third variant of even further estranged bird-people? Sounds like fun - and blood in the skies.
Go for it! :)
Technically, we COULD end the 'First age' on the 5th turn, but I think Omaz Almas will want to build just a bit more on the Eastern side of things, or fill in some of the few blanks on the west. I've looked at the other group's world map, and it is huge!
Edit: Forgot about the angels, they are their own race though.
Nyakushuur |
Ok, undead beasts from within Nyakushuur's forests entered the playgrounds, looking for "friends". This will get ugly really fast...
EDIT: I am cool with extending the first age a bit if needed, no rush from me. I mean, many things we do now will be myths and relics in the later ages, so we should attempt to make a sufficient amount of material to "mythologize" :)
Nimeton |
If I missed any symbols on the keys or something is incorrectly labeled, getting help correcting these would be greatly appreciated.
I'm game for anything it could be fun to extend the ages double but I'm ok either way.

The green upward facing arrows were my clumsy attempt to symbolize evergreen type forests. If anyone wants to replace them with something a bit nicer, feel free as long as I don't lose any :)
And I think after Pyreous goes, we'll be hitting turn 5, first come first serve.
Karmesh |
Remember that we aren't bound by the limitations of GoogleDrive's toolset, we can totally copy images from anywhere into the map. The other game for example has some tree icons that look a lot better than what you can draw with shapes.

Doh. Make that AND the twins. Sorry
Nyakushuur |
Wow, some serious cosmological stuff just happened! So right now we have three afterlifes, a "classic" hell, a "valhalla", and a devil's version of paradise? Jheez...
EDIT: I used Event to create flying rocks, but only in one hex. It might be a bit expensive compared to the creation of an afterlife, but I fear influencing several hexes (at least immediately) with 10 points may cause problems later on when more Events will be played. Any thoughts?
Karmesh |
IC: Karmesh is furious with Eyero, and will likely try to get back at him later.
OOC: Yeah, I have to admit that was a great idea. Karmesh always intended to make an afterlife in the image of Dilmun (from the ancient Sumerians, who serve as a roguth template for what Karmesh's idea of civilization is), but for a LG deity not doing it this round would have been a dick move to say the least.
I think Omaz would make a great divine judge, should we have such a thing later on to sort out the mess of which soul belongs to what afterlife. Not that it really fits his divine portfolio, but he is the only true neutral deity Karmesh would trust with such a thing :)

I think a lot depends on the events duration as well. For example, if you want an event that lasts for just a few hours or so (The world goes utterly dark all over) that might affect a wider spread than 'This island floats forever'. The latter would be a much smaller area, but the duration makes up for it.
I'd suggest that as a guideline (rather than a rule as one never knows).
Still, that aside, the other campaign has done some wild and wooly things. At one time, there was a day without magic there, IIRC, world wide.

Omaz Almas has set a system in place that he thinks will work. Preference for his worshipers, an escape clause for non committed non worshipers that will hopefully teach them to appreciate nature.
He'd probably be a good judge in some ways, but I doubt he'd want the job unless required.
And I hope Nimeton doesn't mind me jumping on the reincarnation bandwagon. I know that's one of his things
Nimeton |
Man oh man do I have some messes to clean up. This all got REALLY interesting I love all the changes, but Nimeton is not happy with a few of them and is lacking the power to fix them at the moment. I am excited to see what will be happening next.
