DC 15: This is a construct with the regular immunities: death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects), necromancy effects, paralysis, poison, sleep, stun, and any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects, or is harmless). Constructs are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. Constructs are not at risk of death from massive damage.
DC 20: This is a Juggernaut, a construct dedicated to guarding sacred sites. It will not attack any creature that openly wears or displays the holy symbol or unholy symbol of the deity to which the juggernaut is dedicated unless that creature first attacks the juggernaut. since it attacked you, it is not dedicated to Erastil.
It also has SR 22 and DR 10/Adamantine.
When a juggernaut kills a creature with at least 5 Hit Dice and an alignment two or more steps away from the juggernaut's alignment, it gains a kill point. Add its current total kill points as a bonus on its attack rolls, combat maneuver checks, caster level checks, and skill checks. Add half its current total kill points as a bonus to its natural armor and spell resistance. The juggernaut loses 1 kill point every 24 hours.
DC 25: Like Clerics, it has particular abilities tied to the domains of their deity. You felt the effects of the Evil domain when it attacked. It will do extra damage to anyone who is good aligned.
Val Autumnchild |
"Thanks for the save, Rik." Val said when Tarik shot the gargoyle attacking her. She dashed over to the first gargoyle and attacked, hoping to kill it before it could do more harm to nikandros.

Sorry for not saying so before but the gargoyles are evil.
Holy Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Val's blade struck true into the fiendish gargoyle's neck. It raised its fell claw to retaliate but the holy light of her magic sword purged the creature from the inside out.
Ophelia recovered from the shock of Nikandros' fall. "Nik! You bloody bastard! I'll shove this arrow up your arse, you s~%@e-licking bastard!"
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 271d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 271d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Ophelia's arrows all strike the construct piercing its thick stone. However it managed to block an arrow that would have struck in a weak spot created by Anya's ice spears.
Tarik Blackhands |
"Good to you back up!" Tarik called to Nikandros as he fired off a salvo at the juggernaut, hoping to get its attention.

"Got a mouth on you, kid." Val said dryly to Ophelia. She dashed in to try to flank the juggernaught with Tarik, trying to stab the juggernaut. "Do you ever get used to fighting giant stone monsters?"

The last bullet finally finds a way through the Juggernaut's tough exterior into its inner workings. "Error: system compromised. Now entering defensive shut down." With that, the once mighty war machine collapses into so much scrap metal.
Nikandros and Ophelia, having been trained in divine matters, notice a faint black and purple aura normally associated with demons travel downward as though melting through the floor.
"Gods damn! I was hoping to not have to use one of these yet," Ophelia said as she handed Nikandros a potion.
Nikandros gains a potion of cure serious wounds.
"Now into the hatch to whatever horrors we face next."
Val Autumnchild |
"Nicky, you okay?" Val asked. "None of us are scheduled to die until we get a bit further in to this place." Despite her jokes, she didn't want any of the team to die, although her desires had never factored in to it before.
"Are you sure you're using that right? Seems to be having a lot of trouble" she asked Tarik.
Nikandros |
"Thanks Ophelia"
Nikandros downs the potion in one swift shot, rolling his shoulders as the wounds closed. After six seconds or so, the bruises had faded and he looked merely pained, instead of dead.

"I don't think I'll die yet...but if I have to there aren't much better ways to go than trying to clean out Erastil's home. I think I've got the front still, just have to avoid a smackdown by a large, angry pile of metal"
Nikandros kicks the remnants of the juggernaut before looking around the roof for any handy entrance.

Anya's hands glowed an icy white as she prepared her spell. Tarik slowly opened the door, gun at the ready for trouble. The heroes held their breath as the door landed on the ground revealing...a ladder. There were no monsters or traps waiting for them.
"Well that's disappointing," Ophelia said with a small pout. "Anyway, we only have two stories down to reach the throne room. There should be plenty of time to search the other rooms for fancy jewel- I mean other prisoners like maids and stuff."
Val Autumnchild |
"I tend to agree, magic is real confusing." Val replied to Tarik. "But if it means something that can keep us from becoming dead or inactive or whatever, I'm all ears."
"You've got better things to do than rifle the pockets of the maids. Anyways, we haven't got the kind of money you want, that's why we become serving girls." Val said with a frown at Tarik. Not that she disapproved of Ophelia's nose for treasure.
She looked down the ladder. "On we go. Never been in a throne room before."
Tarik Blackhands |
"I dunno," Tarik called back up from down the ladder. "If you're any example of the average serving girl in Stagsreach, those maids should have plenty of clank in their pocket unless they got their own blessed swords. Course by that same logic if you're the average serving girl, I'd reckon they don't even need saving to start with," he added with a laugh.
Val Autumnchild |
"Thanks for the compliment to my self-saving abilities. But I didn't buy my sword and armor." Val said to Tarik. "They were bequeathed to me by a man who was like a father to me." Val lied. Exactly like my father, in that I never met him.
Val held on to her skirt and shot a preemptive glare down the ladder. "Eyes towards the stairs, you two." She climbed down after Anya. "If not constructs, something just as bad. I doubt they took over this place by being pushovers."
GM Larkos |
The intrepid party gathered forth and entered the second floor of the fortress. They were careful and sure to look in every room to prevent ambushes. When they reached the last room before the stairs down, they saw a staggeringly handsome man holding a sword to a maid's throat. On the floor next to them was the body of another serving girl but this one was already dead.
The man was tall and well-muscled with bat-like wings neatly folded behind his back. Everything about him was just a little too perfect to be natural.

"That's quite far enough, unless you want this poor woman's blood on your hands," the man said in a calm, silky voice. "Back away and let me pass."
Val Autumnchild |
Val shifted into a guard stance with her sword. "What makes you think she means anything to us?" she bluffed. In truth, she very much wanted to save the girl. "Go back where you came from and we won't have to hurt you, demon. What do you want with this place, anyways?" Shame those looks are on a demon
