"A slow burn should give us a good amount of time to review any other areas of this tower before leaving through the tunnel, but if we desire to stray into other areas, and use the fire as a distraction for that, the tunnel will be off limits. Still, if all are busy or concerned with the fire, we'd likely be able to walk through the front gates if we liked," Anton says. "Well, perhaps not quite so easily."

I think the fire starting is a consensus. It's what we'll do afterwards. We can discuss while we prepare the fires.

That is the case.

"So long as we have the fire to distract and our disguises to hide ourselves, going out the front gate should still be simple. We'll just walk over, slay the guards, and leave. If there's a stable we should take some of the horses for our own use, and stamped the rest. They'll either lose their cavalry or spend precious time and manpower chasing after them."

"I agree with the plans to set the fire and then see what else we can get away with. I do think leaving through the front door would be advisable. No reason to take the chance that our tunnel could be located."

Liberty's Edge

Ok, unless someone says otherwise, I'm assuming you start the fire. The room is quickly chaotic, as the birds fly about wildly, screeching. You have plenty of time to get out, assuming that's the plan of action.

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

I do believe so. Onward!

As the group leaves the birds to their squawking, Dane shuts the door behind them. "I think an inspection of the main keep would be a fair idea at this point."

"Lead onwards. Let's see if other opportunities present themselves," Durova whispers to the group.

Durova starts marching toward teh main keep, pretending he knew what he was doing, in his shiny illusionary guard outfit.

Liberty's Edge

At first, the only way is down...leading to the level with more arrows than you could use in a lifetime...

Dane looks to Sion before suddenly laughing quietly. "Initially I was avoiding it to make sure it didn't look like arson, but I don't think that's an issue for us to worry about right now is it?" Dane shakes his head. "All in favor?"

AC 17/11/16; HP 27/27; DR 2/silver and magic F+4,R+3,W+9; Init.+1, Perc.+12, Sense Motive +11; Darkvision 60'; XP 9400

Anton shrugs. "May as well, since it happens to be along our route. The more damage we do to their defenses, the better."

Liberty's Edge

Ok, I'm making the assumption that you want to wreck the arrows...you will recall that the next level down is guarded...

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Yep, we're all in favor it sounds like, so that's what's going to happen. Adding some fire to the mix so hopefully we'll have moved out before it becomes exceedingly obvious its arson.

AC 17/11/16; HP 27/27; DR 2/silver and magic F+4,R+3,W+9; Init.+1, Perc.+12, Sense Motive +11; Darkvision 60'; XP 9400

Yep. Burning a little, so why not burn just a little more. I assume Dorova's fire bolts he gets as a domain power should allow fire starting to not be much of an issue.

Liberty's Edge

Using a few oiled rags, the fire bolts start the arrows burning quickly. Give me a stealth roll if you're trying to get it blazing without alerting the guards below - whoever is working on getting the fire going.

If you don't particularly care...well...let me know. ;)

AC 17/11/16; HP 27/27; DR 2/silver and magic F+4,R+3,W+9; Init.+1, Perc.+12, Sense Motive +11; Darkvision 60'; XP 9400

Stealth 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

If we have a more Stealthy type, Durova is happy to try to assist, instead of counting the roll as the actual check.

Looks like Durova's got it.

Liberty's Edge

Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 18

You find yourselves still in the process of getting the fires going when you hear voices below, and then footsteps on the stairs, moving quickly.

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 9

What's going on?

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

"Keep going, I'll deal with this." Dane says to Durova as he whirls around to face the guardsmen. "The demon's here lads!" Dane calls out in response to the two and rushes forward his blade lashing out.

Power Attack/Charge: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Nice!

Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Durova moves behind Dane, and casts guidance on him, making it a bit easier for him to hit the guards, doing his massive damage.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, there are now two bodies that were once guards blocking the stairs.

Carry on. : p

Dane nods, satisfied at the swift deaths of the guards. "Well then, back to the fire then we should move to the main keep, quickly."

"Fine, let's do this quickly, the longer we're on this level the better the chance we'll be trapped."

Liberty's Edge

Ok, there are quickly two extra piles of cinder-to-be as the group of guards (nudge-nudge) heads downstairs. Heading to the door leading into the keep proper?

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

I believe that to be the plan. That's at least where Dane's going.

AC 17/11/16; HP 27/27; DR 2/silver and magic F+4,R+3,W+9; Init.+1, Perc.+12, Sense Motive +11; Darkvision 60'; XP 9400

Sounds good to me. Let's go.

Liberty's Edge

Ok...the door leading out of the forge leads into a hallway - presently quiet enough that you can hear the soft sussuruss of the flames behind you.

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Dane, looking at the map, begins looking around. "Will be a good way to see what these individual rooms correspond to." Then turning right, Dane enters the room immediately on his right. Room 3

Liberty's Edge

There is a largish room here, with rather spartan furnishings. Of note is a bed, with a man...apparently asleep in it...a desk...a wardrobe...and an armor stand displaying a well-worn, but well-kept suit of full plate, in the corner.

Whatever: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Male human Dirge Bard 4 | HP 19/19 {effects: none} | AC 20 (T15 FF15) DR 2 (silver&magic)| F -1, R +9, W +3 | Init +5 | darkvision 60', Perception +10, Sense Motive +8

Not wanting to speak, Anton instead points at Dane and then at the sleeping man, making a chopping motion with his hand and then sliding his finger across his throat. No point in my getting dirty when there is someone else who can do the deed... likely far better than I.

AC 17/11/16; HP 27/27; DR 2/silver and magic F+4,R+3,W+9; Init.+1, Perc.+12, Sense Motive +11; Darkvision 60'; XP 9400

Durova nods as well, waiting for the large warrior to do his thing. If a door presents to be closed, he will attempt to do that, if it appears it can be done silently.

Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Liberty's Edge

The man breathes deeply for a second, then resumes steady breathing...

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Dane watches the man, keeping an eye for any sign of hidden weapons, that the man is in fact awake, or any sign of treachery really. Then he slinks up on the man, and deals a swift blow to the neck.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Attempting a coup de grace.

Liberty's Edge

Roll an attack roll.

He's awake, and has nerves of steel. Not only does he roll out of bed as your weapon descends, he comes up with a greatsword.

Oh - initiative please.

Even in his nightclothes, the man has presence. You also see grim determination etched across his craggy features.

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 2d4 + 15 ⇒ (1, 3) + 15 = 19
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Liberty's Edge

Just an fyi, that was an AoO as he got up.
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

The large man grimaces as the rhomphia bites into his shoulder and etches a red line down his chest, slinging blood.

So you must be this 'demon' i've been losing sleep over.

He holds the sword out, defensively. For all of his size, he moves well, leaving you no doubt that you're facing a seasoned warrior.

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Ah, cool. Well with the win on initiative, I'll go ahead and swing again!

Dane swings once more, keeping his attack quick and furious, he breathing intensifies, but true to form he attempts to keep the battle as quiet as possible to avoid drawing attention.

Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 2d4 + 15 ⇒ (3, 2) + 15 = 20

Liberty's Edge

Quick post! Sometimes I have to assemble mine...I post by phone.

Liberty's Edge

So...this happens on 15, then...

Sunder: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Rhomphia: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 1) + 10 = 15

He growls as the sword's edge just slides off of the shaft, and collects another wound for his effort.

Anybody else can take actions, too...

Male Human Male Human|Fighter|HP 24/24|AC 24(T 12/FF 19)|CMB +8;CMD 20|DR 2/Silver&Magic Fort+2 Ref +3 Wil +1| Initiative +4, Perception +4, Darkvision 60' Sense Motive +2

Does he have improved sunder? Or did that provoke another AoO? Also, cool on the post assembly, I avoid doing that but that sometimes means that I lose the entire post to a board reset or other woes.

Liberty's Edge

He does it without provoking...and actually, he even has Greater Sunder...crap roll. :p

Liberty's Edge

Ok, I've spent over 15 minutes trying to answer this question. He.makes a second sunder attempt.

Sunder: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
This time?: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 1) + 10 = 14

It's a bad night.
