Well, the carriage has seats for 4, but even more fit into one usually of they have to, I didn't think this would be an issue. :)

My comment was a reply to Seltyn, who already felt (or joked about) he being next to die. As I understand it "jinxing" means in English that something bad becoming true due to mentioning either the event, or the exact opposite. (like "It will surely be a great weather tomorrow for picnic." => pouring rain and storm next day)

The second part about me getting shot was an attempt to make a joke in a similar fashion to how Seltyn wrote. Sorry if these weren't clear. (or if I used jinx in some bad way)

To be fair, we should all decide how things are going. My style of DMing is not going to change after 25 years. The 'homebrew' label was a way of saying it wouldn't be the normal pathfinder game and every encounter wouldn't be CR balanced: up front it was mentioned things would be difficult. It turns out that this was what is now called a 'Sandbox' design as the world and encounters were pretty much laid out with only rough guidelines of what to do first.

Attrition and character death in the campaign was normally higher than normal as it was more challenging than the standard campaign. The dwarves are carrying bodies as we speak. I actually provide a new method of resurrecting characters to offset this somewhat giving everyone a possible 'second life' to help in this respect.

Maeve has had the most difficulty with my style, but then as a new player is just starting. Maybe others have suffered in silence going along with the consensus. I am hoping we can air our grievances and decide if we should continue. My position is the current situation is unacceptable to me, the DM is the final authority and rules opinions and grievances do not linger on in multiple posts. After everyone was ready to go, I asked for a marching order, waited a period of time, and moved on to the next encounter.

I do not intend to compromise much on my end and that may leave us with few options to continue. Some examples of my nonstandard views: I do not believe on individual roles for everyone at all times. 20 hobgoblins do not all get to roll to hope one of them rolls a critical success 20 and catch the master thief stalking them. I am too aware of statistics and math and the dangers of allowing the law of large numbers to have an effect by allowing too many dice rolls.

It was understood that this game would be on "hard mode," and I have no problem with that. We've gotten gobsmacked most of the time, but we finally got lucky in the last fight.

We're strangers in a strange land, so things should be a little crazy. If we don't say what order we're in, CM can presume we don't care. I do that sometimes, too. If they won't tell me who's keeping watch or whatever, I pick somebody and roll with it.

Truthfully the only thing I've had a hard time grasping is how much you follow the rules and core design to a T chainmail. It's not a bad thing, I'm just to used to a fast paced and loose play style. I was also thrown off by you saying we could have taken 20 for perceptions checks and I'm going to look more into that when I get a chance. Mainly because I thought you had to fail to succeed with that one, lol!

And Suny was right that we all were just in a WTFBBQ moment when the game time jumped. Which caused reactions to flare. :/

The only suggestion I have to the current game is the following, which a lot of DMs and myself do in PBP. Give people a 24 be window to post in. They fail to do that then its there own issue. Granted my hectic work schedule will probably cost me its just a simple request. If everyone wants to make it more fast pace then that's fine and just understand at times Wil is gonna be on autopilot.

Other then that Chainmail is right as the Dm is the final authority and he backed up his calls fairly well. Like Wils ability to instant heal. It wouldn't work at all if he's caught in a surprise/flatfooted situation like we were in. I mean those guys ganked me lol and if Wil had died as a result then I would be sad and make a rogue. Bottom line was I never saw it coming and was nearly killed for my characters weak perception.

As Chainmail already knows I would like this game to continue if that is possible.

Also if Flam is dead Wil will be a sad Panda. :( But those are the breaks.

f Elf bard/4. Init +2/Low-Light Vision/Perception +11/ AC16, T12: FF14/

wow what did i come back to. I like the way it is, it is so much fun to play in a campaign where we have to pick our fights carefully. i will say i am looking forward to getting to a fight i have a chance of wining lol but it isn't making the journey any less fun.

the jump from one thing to another is difficult sometimes to keep up with especially as i cant get on all the time. but it is something i deal with, it isn't everyone else's responsibility to wait for me or others who cant post every 10minutes. so it is cool.

I will say that is can be disheartening to lose or run away from every battle we get, but as Will said we at strangers in a new land what do we expect lol and also as you say CM its how you play it and it was stated upfront, home brew hard hitting. if i didn't want or like the way i wouldf chose a different game. but i like this one so far. few hiccups but its fun to play.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

I will leave so that the game continues for the others, but I wanted everyone to know that I was kicked out so I drop the related PM I had in my box when I woke up here.

Chainmail wrote:

I had no problems with you airing grievances in our game thread.

Anyway, if I continue, it will be without Maeve.

I wish you best of luck in other games. I was somewhat apprehensive when you criticized the posting style of Suny in the discussion thread before joining, but I was hoping things would work out. Obviously they haven't.

I will find urgent business for Maeve back in the Black Citadel.

As we are still airing grievances, feel free to speak about this in our discussion thread if you like. If not, I planned to just make a quiet exit for Maeve in the game thread.

No problems, no grievances, no discussion on my side. However, Chainmail please don't try to say there are none on your end when you just kick me from the game.

That's all, bye.

Aye, Elorin will work her magic and we will all come away with the celestial template after a huge encounter with the angel thing.

Elorin will be polite and as diplomatic as possible and but will not literally use her magic on a angel. she ain't that stupid. lol wow gods and angels feature heavily in this game, it is very cool.

what do you all think we should ask the angel? what do we want to know?

Because there hasn't really been any "getting to know you" stuff yet, as a recent addition to the game, how do you all think I'm doing?

This game has done very little getting to know people stuff for anyone. We pretty much get to know each other by their actions.

So far, I think we all have a pretty good idea of what Thalas is all about, which means you're doing great.

I think we've recognized other elves and taken pretty much for granted that we're on the same team. The time in the mansion would be good for talking a bit. Seltyn senses, but doesn't know, that there are stories here we haven't gone into.

Ok I will stick a post in the combined thread. Both groups have met the Coalition and the Society.

Are we heading straight to elven home?

Split the party briefly. The body of Flambeaux needs to come home soon. Elorin and Seltyn stay with Derrick briefly for example, whilst the rest of us go home and report our success and failure. Otherwise the body is going to start stinking soon.

Lol and the elven Treasury takes a two year loan to pay Talon back!

Wil wasn't too upset, he merely thought that since Flam had saved Talon she deserved at least some attempt in having her restored or even spoken to to see if she wanted to remain with the gods. Honorable guy he is he had to say something at least and when you nearly have half of the two year loan in your pouch he thought it would go a fair way in convincing others. :)

Gave us a little down/rp time anyways. :)

Speak with dead might not be a bad idea to be fair. Find out how she is doing and go from there.
Yes it would be nice to get her back, but if it means that the rest of them can't be equipped and readied then it feels like a poor option to me.

Okay. With the 600 odd gold.

Suny will be looking to get at least a suit of Elven 'Leaf mail'. Something to give her some protection, while not hindering her swimming.

Prolly keep with the x-bow and short swords/Curved blades.

Also, any one have any good ideas for feats for 3rd level General/2nd lvl Fighter?

Might take 'Lingering performance' to add to the bard side and maybe 'Weapon Focus' to add to the Fighter.

Thoughts? Ideas? Comments?

Per +5, Low-Light Vision | HP 33/33 | AC 20, Touch 11, Flat 19 | F +4, R +2, W +10

You have to pick from the Fighter bonus feat list, so you can't pick 'Lingering Performance'. 'Dodge' is always a good idea, or 'Weapon Focus' as you say if you intend to acquire more levels as a fighter than as a bard.

I'll have to see if leaf mail is Core.

Per +5, Low-Light Vision | HP 33/33 | AC 20, Touch 11, Flat 19 | F +4, R +2, W +10

You could also take an archery feat to take advantage of your high Dex. Point Blank Shot is the pre-req for Precise Shot which negates the -4 penalty for shooting into melee.

Ah, but Suny is going to 3rd lvl.

So she gets a 'general' Feat and a Fighter Feat. (^_^)

So, one 'general' feat for 3rd level. One Fighter feat from 2nd level of class. (^_^)

Only thing in the book is the Ring of Feather Fall, which is a bit out of my price range right now. Is there anything that is less uses for a lower price?

I don't know how much I have to spend, but I wouldn't mind a peice of jewelry for the pearl, perhaps a necklace so I can wear it around the human to show i appreciate gift. I also wouldn't mind something to take back to them as a gift in return, I am not sure what would be best and what we can spare, any ideas guys?

Per +5, Low-Light Vision | HP 33/33 | AC 20, Touch 11, Flat 19 | F +4, R +2, W +10

Setting the pearl in a necklace would cost 100-500gp if made from silver or gold. If made from mithral or platinum, 500+ gp.

A return gift should consist of something of similar value; maybe a masterwork ring engraved with the sigil of the human king's House? Depending on the value of the pearl, it could be of silver, gold, or mithral to match "prices".

You can make buy Masterwork Studded Leather armor for 175gp; it's within Core rules and functionally identical with the Leaf Armor - and a lot cheaper to boot. Probably not as "pretty", though. ;)

Purely an aside: at the Renaissance Festival this last weekend, I went into a chainmail craft-shop to discover it was nothing but chain bikinis. lol

Not sure, is it like wet dog? How about wet dog with halitosis, like my in-laws' dog that we always have to watch when they (frequently) go out of town?

I was just putting it out there; maybe Chainmail won't have an issue with you paying more than double the price of armor that you can buy within the existing rules.

Alas as well, for 'Lingering Performance' is an APG feat. Sorry to be the killjoy around here...!
