The posts were colorful and added a little more realism to the game but remember, we also have a PM system for off camera posts as well. ;)

I've been in enough mature orientated games that I don't mind, and welcome that sort of content but they were on sites where it was a little more secure. Theres my 2 coppers. Looking forward to seeing more and continuing on!

Life has been kicking me in the bum as of late sosorry for the lack of posting, I have been reading and just need to catch up. ^^;

Male Elf Ranger 4

Posts were colourful and interesting, but touch upon a rather adult theme, despite nothing been really stated, it was borderline really.

Still, and interesting scene, and I look forward to what happens next

Spoiler:
HP: 22/22, AC: 17(Max 21(T13,FF14), DR: 1(Water Based Critters), F:+4, R:+7, W:+2, Perc: +6, Init: +3.

We go off adventuring, silly! (^_^)

Much cheers to all.

Well, the items cannot be copied. Seltyn is a few levels from crafting wondrous items and weapons and items.

Consider the rating for the game pg13.

We will continue when Talon or Septum answers these ?s

Which of the ring, dagger, and chain is being returned, if any?

Road will allow two wide marching order. What is the order, and who beside Wil are mounted? Std price for horses here.

You have Healing wand, who Carries it?

Make sure spells memorized are updated.

HP: 22/22, AC: 17(Max 21(T13,FF14), DR: 1(Water Based Critters), F:+4, R:+7, W:+2, Perc: +6, Init: +3.

Um...pretty sure Suny will be riding behind some one else who knows the front end from the back end of a horse. ;)

Unless we want a wagon/cart to haul more folks in one bundle?

As for gear distribution? Am happy for some one to work out who should get what. *Bows*

Male Elf Ranger 4

Right, as far as I care, the items go back. Talon is not a common thief, and thus to keep them wouldn't sit well with him. The reward money can be used to further the party, perhaps get some other minor magic stuff we need. I would like to eventually get a mithril chainshirt or something because they are amazing.

I personally will not be mounted and thus afaik Wil is the only person with a mount.

I would ask that either Suny or Elorin carry the wand. They have the best chances of being able to use it.

Spells? What are these things? I have no spells.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

GM: I sent a PM reply to your last comment about changing the charm spells, please reply on that, or didn't you get the reply?

I am probably not going to change spells, but I am thinking of creating a feat to make the subject of a charm save again to remember if he was charmed. I am thinking of making this feat be the same way for those that resist, a second save will be required to let the subject know the spell was trying to affect him in the first place.

Azlain you keep holding onto that bastard sword until we have a weapon to replace it. It's still on my sheet but I thought is post here to eliminate confusion.

:)

For me, I would like to use my share of the loot and a little of my previous share to gain a standard non magical mithril chain shirt. I think it would cost me 1220, and would basically mean that I have nothing left over in terms of my share of said loot. It sounds like about the right amount at least.

Talon I can loan you 200g, once the potions are done I will ask only for 150g back, and you get a Bless Weapon potion too. I ordered the potions mainly for the team anyway. Or: Maeve and Talon can have some extra fun later, and you only have to pay 50g and you still get the potion

A bit backtracking to that pg 13 thing:
Maeve is like this, it is more than "in character" for her, this is basically the core concept for the girl, I will use the fade to black thing for almost everything, but hugging or kissing is well accepted by pg 13 standards, just as hinting in speech at things is. (I actually had to look up the meaning of pg 13, and read what it includes) Ingame the direct actions taken until now were all only kissing anyway. The introduction post for Maeve here in the discussion thread made it clear what you can expect from her, there were no complains back then, actually I got a very positive and overwhelming response.

Male Elf Ranger 4

Oh, for the record I am going to buy a single CLW potion with the last of the cash that I had on hand. Just waiting for confirmation that I can get the mithril chainshirt and then I will post with the updated statline.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

I think you should have either posted the shirt comment in discussions, or under ooc IMHO however. :)

Male Elf Ranger 4

Yeah realised that, hence putting into OOC tags just now. Mind was a long way away.

As far as marching order goes, if we are bracketed by Azlain and Wil, then for example Suny could go up the front with Azlain, Maeve with Wil at the back and myself, Elorin and Thalas making up the middle in some kind of formation. Hell, might even be an idea to hire a carriage or something if we can find a stables. Will make the journey easier.

*Nods* Aye, how long a walk is it?

Not that I don't mind looking at the scenery, but why walk when one can ride? (^_~)

Also a wagon kind of gives us cover/defense to fight from.

If you do that, I wish to replace my alternative channeling feat for it already, don't want to wait until level 6 for it :)

Per +5, Low-Light Vision | HP 33/33 | AC 20, Touch 11, Flat 19 | F +4, R +2, W +10

Hiring a coach cab (stage coach) is 3cp per mile per CRB. With seven of us, there are too many for a single coash. We'll have to rent two of them though I could buy a horse out of my remaining starting funds. It would probably be a good idea for Wil and Talon to have separate horses as well; we could pretend to be a minor noble or merchant's guard - definitely not thieves, anyway.

Male Elf Ranger 4

We are not thieves surely. Just people with a cause. That the cause might have involved killing and thievery is neither here nor there surely? :p

In all fairness I suspect it might be an idea for us to hire horses. Considering that we will have a fair way to go, and might never return here, it might be an idea to use a staging post of some sort.

As for distance, there was a figure stated in terms of the days, but for the life of me I cannot remember it. Would have to go back a number of pages.

Elorin could work well as the petty noble that we are guarding. She is pretty enough for the work.

Per +5, Low-Light Vision | HP 33/33 | AC 20, Touch 11, Flat 19 | F +4, R +2, W +10

I can't find anything in the rules about hiring a horse, only the coach. We'd have to buy a horse at Light riding horse + riding saddle + bit/bridle is 91gp each (637gp total), excluding feed. Is there enough spare cash for that, even if it can be partially recouped by selling the horses at the other end? Horses would be fastest, at 40 miles travelled per day.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

stop trying to buy/rent horses, I am going to Lefty to try to get the stuff for free

Male Elf Ranger 4

In theory we might, but I doubt it. I know my share of the 6000 is going to spider. We owe him a favour.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

Even so, at least wait out the whole scene/encounter to play out and let me roll on extra diplo to get horsies before you consider it a doomed attempt, I believe Lefty may be in a verrry favorable mood, Spider too.

Suny and Azlain? Sounds fun. She'll talk enough for the both of us :)

Male Elf Ranger 4

Just as a heads up, its unlikely that Talon will be sitting down all the time on the way back. Once every couple of hours he will insist on taking his place on the running board so that Flambeaux can rest a little.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

he is paid for driving, or he gets less payment

Male Elf Ranger 4

Flambeaux is not driving as best as I can tell, but rather the carriage comes with a driver. Therefore Flambeaux was taking the running board, which if she were to take it all the time might leave her to feel unappreciated and so on, something I dont really want

Female Half-Elf Cleric

ah yes, I mixed up the two npc-s

Although it may be wiser to not have the banner out at all atleast until we leave the area of the city

Male Elf Ranger 4

Yeah its folded away and therefore sorted as best as I can tell

Flambeauex could always ride with Wil. ;)

Male Elf Ranger 4

Haha yeah she could. In all fairness that's not a bad idea. In any case, Talon would almost certainly prefer to be outside because then he has a nice bow that he can use. Will update the character sheet now to reflect going back to my old masterwork bow and chainshirt rather than Oneshot and the uber mithril chainshirt of awesomeness.

I think one of the three items returned was the merciful dagger? Is that correct Chainmail?

"You may also wish to decline any opportunities for inter-cultural discussions in the meantime as well."

I may misunderstand this, but is this comment about Maeve?

Not that I would hide it, but when Suny and Maeve had their fun it was at Lefty's place after we split off the group. Or did Thalas join in too without me realizing it? XD

Male Elf Ranger 4

Suny is a sea elf, the rest of us are forest elves. Thats the inter culture bit

Three devices that were returned for 600pp:
Ring of devices
Merciful Dagger
Shadow Chain

Male Elf Ranger 4

Guys, I am going to suggest running the hell away from here. Flambeaux is dead, might be an idea to take a move action and get the banner back and then a move action to get back into the carriage before running for the hills. Especially with the dice being so hot for the GM this time around.

HELP!

Female Half-Elf Cleric

I am disturbed by how this got handled, I didn't read the game thread of before I joined, was it always handled like this? to roll a single time for perception and such when the team is ambushed?

Male Elf Ranger 4

If we don't want to wait a week for initiative and the like to be rolled, then it makes sense to do it. I know that when I GM, I tend to typically take the passive rolls (i.e. act as though the party had rolled a 10) unless they specifically have said that they are especially observant. I don't think its being handled badly. Its going to be painful as hell if we engage these things, which I don't advise we do, but that's me.

Again, my suggestion is to get the body and the banner, and then get the hell out of there.

Chainmail, are you rolling the initiative counts or do we have that honour? I know you have the initiative counts on the campaign info pages.

Well, we had a similar impasse before. I will let the discussion percolate before I take the time to make a map. We started having everyone make rolls and intitiative, but we can go back. The determination was only one person would be watching the backtrail to simplify things, but some people thing everyone should be assumed to be rolling perception at all times. So consider things waiting for the discussion to be resolved.

Female Half-Elf Cleric

I would say everyone gets rolls, all the players and NPC-s, same with people hiding/ambushing, no matter how good one or two of them hide if one of the ambushers is obvious.

I am still stuck mentally at the scene of getting out of the carriage, talking to Suny/Thalas, and preparing to rest. And even then I was barely able to catch up due to the first timejumps and had to "retro-act" in a timeframe that already passed.

I am still unsure if Suny would have been inside the carriage or on horse, maybe even replacing the NPC banner girl outside, I have no idea what the dwarven party does but to me the scene feels as if Chainmail either did something important with them and wants us to get to a story intersection, or considers us fallen crazily behind them and that became the reason for the rush

Right now, I am in the emotional state of "what the hell just happened!?".

Female Half-Elf Cleric

Seriously: it was barely a day that the post of carriage/leaving was done, players didn't even have a chance to say where they would like to escort the carriage, in what way, or to be inside rather

I am sorry if I sound argumentative, but as stated: I am kinda freaked out by the rush and events. I understand some speeding but only if it is not through dangerous lands.

Hungarian Paladin of Light 2/ Bard of Serious Business 4/ Grand Master 3/ Judge 1
Quote:
Elorin and Seltyn are disturbed as a spear head comes between them in the rear seat of the carriage. Maeve and Talon are also shocked from their front seat. Wil, Thalas and Suny are can only stare in shock as a volley of crossbows target 1=W;2=T;3=S; 1d3 ⇒ 1 Wil.

What if Suny stayed in the carriage? What if Wil after starting out to ride now wanted to be in the carriage with the horse tied to the carriage or handed to someone else?

Male Elf Ranger 4

The way I see this game at the moment is that yes we didn't have the time jumps when we were in the city much because there was a lot to be dealt with there. Whilst we are travelling for several hours, we can fast forward a little and assume that beyond the normal conversation there is little of real note going on. The occasional animal spotted etc. Therefore when the encounter happens, dice are rolled and stuff happens. This encounter seems to be happening about midday, and we had been saying that we would only be resting in the evening. Therefore the second of your perception rolls wouldn't have had its conditions met and therefore doesn't count into this.

There is an argument that our perception rolls could have been made for us, as the BBcode is fairly simple, but if this is the way that Chainmail would like to do this, then that is ok by me.

In my opinion the encounter should go ahead as planned. Yes the game progresses quickly, but I would much rather it progress quickly than take a month to get through this encounter. Its reasons like this that I have said to Wil that if I don't post in a reasonable time, then he can post on my behalf.

The game needs to keep moving forward, and if that means a time jump whilst we are basically sitting in a carriage then that's fine by me. I don't see the need to act out 4 or 5 hours of sitting in the carriage.

Yes it might mean that posts get a little jumbled up in terms of time, but so what? We can work that out later on.

Plus, the feeling of OMG WTFJH is a good one. Its possibly what Maeve is thinking right now.

I did mention that Talon would be switching places occasionally with Flambeaux to make sure she was not overly tired. If therefore Chainmail would like to make a roll to see who was on the running board at the time then thats fine, if on the other hand he doesn't want to make that roll then that is fine by me also.

His game, his rules. In general the game has been going on nearly a year, and yes we had some people leave the game, but its been going strong and people have been having fun, so there can't be an awful lot going wrong.

Well sh*&.

I was typing it just as 8 posts happened at once lol

I think the pace is just too fast for your taste. In PbP if you allow everything to be resolved in a party of 6 or 7, the game lags too much. If we are moving too fast, this game may not be for you. Most of the complaints I have received over eight months say this game goes too slow.

I will not wait for every party member to make a perception roll.
