Rhobannon |
"They appear to have some enemies behind them. Let's see how this plays out." Rhobannon whispers, trying to take cover and hide behind some debris in the alley.

With the group waiting and none of the shifters being that observant about the area around them, no one comes to investigate the disturbance that Falko made. A few minutes pass and several folk come down the main path to dock E.
Rhobannon |
Rhobannon whispers to Cil, "There's Rook, but with the injuries we treated, he shouldn't be ambulatory. Can you tell if he is a fellow Child of the Traveler?"
child of the traveler = changeling = wax baby
Cil |
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
"What? Rook? Where?" Cil says quietly looking out into the street.
Following Rhobannon's outstretched finger, she frowns, "Yeah, not like me, not like the shifters..."
She turns slightly to address the other, "Get ready, looks like Rook's got some business with the shifters out there...we're going to back him up!"
She nods her thanks to Rhobannom, and checks her crossbow, waiting for Rook to make his move...

Shalyna Alathreil |
Mind if I ask how much longer before Saronis and Shalyna arrive?
GM Wolf |
The three in shrouds move forward until almost next to the shifters with the magical loop.
The shrouds are dropped and they begin to fight attacking with hidden steel. Rook and his two allies turn even more beastial than the shifters as their snouts elongate, sharp teeth become very apparent and they increase in size. It turns into pure chaos as magical darkness is thrown down upon the dock. You can see some but hear more fighting breaking out around on the dock. They all look beastial in their forms...
Rhobannon |
autosucceed on the perception.
was Rook a shifter before? i thought he was just halfling? should have been apparent when we were healing him, a la a greater-than-normal amount of hair or something. are rat-blood shifters smaller like halflings? the point of my line of questioning is, is this even Rook? If not, then we shouldnt even care about this shifter-on-shifter scrap and just avoid it all.
GM Wolf |
Someone comes out of the chaos into your alley and stops in the middle, she whispers, "Quickly go, the Dark Below and the Travelor watch your path. May you be an instrument for their purposes. We will handle the shifter scum." With that she runs back into the fray blasting someone with a black ray of some kind.
Cil |
Cil watches the dock descend into a scene of bestial brutality, answering Falko almost distractely "Rook's a good friend, we've saved each other's hides a number of times...though I think he's in the lead now."
As the woman disappears into the fray, Cil frowns, "I dislike being someone's pawn....but we've no choice. Let's use the confusion to get to the ship..." she sees Rhobannon glance back the way they came, concern on his face.
"Sar can take care of himself...and the girl. We'll wait a few more moments then make a break for it..."
Looking at each to make sure they're all on the same page, she then looks back at the savage action, before holding a hand up and then bringing it forward, launching herself out into the open, sprinting for Dock E and their sanctuary, hoping the others are right behind her...
GM Wolf |
The group of four surge forward sticking to one side of the dock.
Coral Corsair
Crimson Displacer
Port master, Grelon Horkthew - diplomacy DC 15 to get him out of the shed. +10 to DC to make him friendly. A portly fellow and enjoys his food more than his coins, but coins are needed for food.
Coral Corsair crew:
21 sailors
3 sailors level 3 rogues
lieutenant, sorcerer 5, female elf, Thelinia 'Windswept'
first mate, swashbuckler 3, male elf, Calabred Silvinia
captain, swashbuckler 4, male elf, Jellirus Slendrak
The docks are mostly empty, strange even with the fight going on. There should be sailors putting on supplies or taking off trades. Now past the fight a building like a shed is about 90 feet down the dock. A lone humanoid stands in leathers with several weapons strapped to his body about another 90 feet down the dock near the end.
Cil |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Cil only has eyes for the dock, their salvation in this crazy, crazy night.
Sprinting down the dock she spies the the shed half way down, coming to a panting stop 10 feet from the man.
"Hail, and well met." she gasps, "We don't want any trouble, we just need to get to the end of this dock..."
Rhobannon |
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Rhobannon rushes behind Cil, and when she stops, he turns to survey the battlefield as the others cross, and looks for signs of Sar and Shalyna.
GM Wolf |
You are technically in the future compared to the next group, but I thought I would give you guys a chance to interact with the NPC and possbily get where you need to be quicker.
The elf grunts at Falkos declaration and shakes his head.
Shalyna Alathreil |
"Um, yes. Can you tell us where the Coral Corsair is," Gwyn asks when the man asks if he can help.
GM Wolf |
Calabred nods to her and simply says, "Come on board then, lets get you stowed away."
Calabred leads the group up the gangplank and onto the deck of the Coral Corsair. He asks, "Is this your entire group or should I be looking for more? The captain is indisposed right now and you can meet him en route." Leading the group down a hatch and ladder he brings them to two doors. "Here is the general quarters, your room and the special cargo room which doubles as our mage's room. The kitchen is on the other side below the captain's quarters. Any questions?"
-----
Grelon looks at the two of you and rubs his hands, with a sly smile he says, "Yes I could 'tell' you where that ship is but wouldn't you like introductions instead?"
Shalyna Alathreil |
"Um, ah. Well, you see we're in a little bit of a hurry..." Shalyna stammers in reply. the man's smile making her nervous.
Saronis |
Saronis looks at Shalyna and then back at the port master, in a gruff voice he says, "No like the lady said, we just need directions. Here have these few coins and point us in the right direction. Unless you want me to use the stick instead of the carrot?"
Intimidate with pirate get up on.: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 8 With a bribe of a silver and two copper, subtracted from sheet.
GM Wolf |
The port master moves to the side and takes the few meager coins from Saronis. He stammers out, "No that will be fine, I don't want trouble. The Coral Corsair is just two ships up on the left, Calabred was out earlier. Just go stand near the gangplank and I am sure he will be along shortly." He quickly goes into his shed of and office and shuts the door.
A fierce looking elf does indeed come down the gangplank. He has leather armor on and several weapons. The elf says sternly, "Names please, this is the Coral Corsair."
Shalyna Alathreil |
Shalyna looks as if she's trying to melt into the dock.
"Sh-sh-shalyna," she stammers out with a squeaky voice.
Saronis |
Saronis simply says his name keeping up the pirate get up.
GM Wolf |
The Elf waves them onto the ship saying, "Your group has been waiting for you. Do you know the password?"
With or without the password he brings you onto the ship. The group is united again and soon the ship is pulling away from the dock. The trip has begun, if you try to leave your cabin, you find it locked.
Assuming you wait the door opens several hours later and you can tell you are on the high seas. Calabred is there with a tray of meats, a loaf of bread and slices of cheese. " You can roam the ship if you like and we can work on your accommodations, anything you need?"
The cabin has three cots and four hammocks, a water bowl, and a honey bucket. No windows and one sturdy door.
Shalyna Alathreil |
Shalyna, having passed out shortly after arriving in the cabin wakes up (or at least she technically wakes up, it is more like a poor facsimile of waking up, to be honest) when Calabred brings the food. The sleepy magus quickly builds and devours a towering sandwich before falling back asleep in the hammock she had taken.
GM Wolf |
Oops I put it all in the spoiler.

Cil |
At seeing Saronis and Shalyna on the boat already, Cil lets out a shout and hugs both exuberantly, "So glad you made it in one piece."
Then speaking around a mouthful of food, she shrugs at Falko's question, "No idea. Calabred, what's our destination?"
Rhobannon |
"Good to see you made it, Saronis. I was beginning the old goat was roasted."
****
Rhobannon says "I'm going to stretch my legs. I feel cooped up."
He exits the room, lingering long enough to hear if Cil knows where we are going.
Saronis |
Saronis welcomes the hug and gives her a hearty bear hug in return with a huge grin on his face. He wryly says, "No doubt in my mind we were going to get here as such."
"Old goat? Me?!?! Why you..." He comes over and punches Rhobannon in the metal arm and smiles. In a more humor filled voice he says, "No I am sure the fates have plans for me still."
Cil |
Cil frowns at Calabred's answer, then shrugs. "Well, wake me whenever we get to whereever we're going." she says, sizing up a hammock then flinging herself in.
Curling up, within moments only soft snores emanate from her still form.
Shalyna Alathreil |
At seeing Saronis and Shalyna on the boat already, Cil lets out a shout and hugs both exuberantly, "So glad you made it in one piece."
Sorry, should have responded to this earlier.
Shalyna tenses up at the hug, before relaxing a little and returning it awkwardly.
"Um, Cil? Can you let go? I can't breathe!"
Later, when Cil goes to bed
Shalyna begins to snore as she goes into a deep sleep, her's sounding almost like a cat purring.
Saronis |
Saronis replies to Rhobannon in almost a vision induced state, "There is many paths we could take but for now we take this one, only time will tell where we will end up." He shakes his head and slyly smiles then after a silent laugh he says mirthfully, "At least that is what the oracles kept saying about me in my early years."
Saronis takes the first watch, keeping an alert eye while the others sleep.

In your sleep each of you dream:
You feel a swirling of black and white mist around your body, a mark has developed on your skin and you see it as if you were someone else, an out of body experience.
You feel like you can speak with the entinty, also you can either sleep more or wake up. Who do you worship, what kind of spirit animal would you likely have and/or any higher beings have an interest in you?
