Tanira leaves her horse behind in safe distance and slips carefully to a hiding place close to the ledge from which she can try to make out the events.

"Can any of you make out what this fight is about and how the situation is?" she whispers to her new companions. She senses the same emotion of tension she is feeling in the fox who accompanies her, still she encourages him to look around a little with undercurrent of concern. Before her little brown friend can leave she touches him with one of her wands and whispers a few words of charm. Mage Armor

Then she uses the same wand on herself.

The drow appear to be holding out better than those in the camp. Their animals taking lots of casualties but there are more.

perception DC 20:
The camp dwellers have a few well armed individuals that are holding out better than the others, three hobgoblins that are better equipped and working together as a team.

perception DC 25:
There are another dozen drow in the the trees shooting darts into the thick of things. They are taking down the enemy quicker than what appears.

There are foxes though they shy away from contact from humanoids just like most beasts.

I don't like it but i think we should charge in the fight with the Drow. currently we are on their turf with their permission and probably wouldn't understand why we didn't come join them. But i am not the leader of this expedition and will do as told he says

"That sounds reasonable Jake, I agree with you. Cil that sound good with you?" Saronis asks as he makes sure his items are on and in place. Lastly holding his blade before him smiling at it as he gets ready to charge.

Cil purses her lips in indecision , unconciously tapping the heel of her hand against her rapier's pommel.

A number of problems and possibilities churn around in her head, until finally Cil gives her head a shake and says "Right now all we have to go on is our truce with the Drow. We side with the Drow in this fight. Let's circle around and catch the other's from the side, if we come from the Drow's flank they may think us a threat."


Cil:
yes it's true you would be approaching the Drow's flank if you come down the path to the camp. The fight is rather chaotic though. You will need to climb to approach the camp any other way.

"Truce? Well, let's just go ahead... I must say I am not particularly comfortable with engaging into a fight on the side of a drow. Feels like being a bee joining a fight with a spider... I wonder what they are fighting about. Control over this valley or is there more to it."

She focuses on Zharon, letting him feel that she wants him back by his side.

Looking about, Cil says "Well, I'd love to circle around but we'd have to do too much climbing. So there's not help for it, we assist the drow, but make sure they see us coming so we can parley with them."


The group moves forward at a walk. Saronis and Cil at the front, he brings his horse behind him. Before they can get even near the camp a drow appears above them on the embankment.

In elven it speaks:
"What brings you to this sacred site, do you come to aid the looters?"

Tanira bows slightly and makes sure that Zharon stays behind her. In elven she returns: "We are indeed looking for something but we don't have any intention of stealing anything. Would you like some assistance with those attackers? We are perfectly willing to assist you to demonstrate our good will."

She can hardly control her voice and her half-elven ears twitch as she speaks; she really doesn't like drow, too much elf in her. But she is perfectly honest regarding her will to make a compromise; maybe they didn't need the entire book after all, maybe a copy or an information from it would do. And if this was a holy site and its contents sacred to the drow she would certainly not take it.

The Drow responds with fear in his voice, "The great one is with you? Speak his name as you enter the battle and we will offer assistance and try to give you a large berth from our animals. If you wait a few minutes we will pull back our forces so you may finish off the infedels." The Drow looks for Aukan but does not see him, he still relays the plans to you. He signals to another one that was in the brush and he runs into the forest.

Charles is a bit uneasy not being able to understand what is being said. He leans over to Saronis and quietly "What is being said? Please tell them that I can start looking at their wounded" Charles stows his bow and knocked arrow and puts a hand on his sword waiting for the invitation to collect and look after the injured.

Tanira doesn't seem very happy with the events and but willing to play along. The little fox Zharon accompanies her and stands guard for her while Tanira accompanies Charles and assists him tending the wounded.

Drow are evil

"Charles stick with us, we are going to finish the fight in the camp as they retreat. We will need that blade and your healing soon enough." Saronis says in common.


Correct Drow are evil.

Charles if you wish to attempt to find the wounded you may attempt to climb up the face of the crater, DC 15. Or move down into the camp searching for the wounded.

A few minutes later you all hear horns and the Drow and their animals seem to leave the camp climbing up the crater wall. Some carry wounded.

First we will wait to see what Charles and Tanira plan to do.

hmm, am i correct in assuming Dol Arrah would not be pleased with me helping the drow?


Quantos might feel that helping evil people would not be along Dol Arrah's path.

From the groups present location you can see burning tents and wagons. The remnants of some humanoids stay in the camp, just a few can be seen. The Drow climb up the vines along the crater and their animals follow them.

Charles heads towards the camp, he gets within 50 feet of it before the horns go off and the battle abates. Then he hears a voice call out to him, "Who goes there?! A dwarf look boys we got a meal for the lot of us, no pesky elf meat for us tonight!" the speaker and the other humanoids appear from the destroyed remains of the camp, 5 of them are goblins, 2 are gnolls and 2 more bugbears. They all look hurt with wounds but they all bear weapons and wear armor.

The gnolls go before anyone.
Then the heroes.
Finally the rest of the enemies.

Round 1
The two gnolls move quickly to get to the dwarf,
morning star attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 morning star damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
morning star attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 morning star damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Neither hurt Charles but both weapons slam off his armor.

She casts an unnatural lust (DC16) at the far gnoll with the other gnoll as subject (reducing the DC to 12, since it's a subject that he'd not normally feel attracted to - unless the two gnolls are of opposite gender).

She throws a quip towards Charles "Any killing you do is for us!" then the enemy is upon them....

Now behind the Bugbear, she attacks with her dagger of eradis ( activating Impaling ability as a swift action)

Tanira didn't have the Goblins on the bill and twitches every time a bolt hits Charles. She raises an eyebrow as she starts to be a little worried; she isn't prepared to heal particularly much. "I'll cloud us to protect us from arrows, I'll drop it as soon as you ask."

She closes in the 30 feet on the others and casts Obscuring Mists.

The gnolls retreat into the mist, one after the other, the bugbears back off as well their banded mail deflecting blows before they go. Cil is the only one who gets a good hit in before they retreat. Anyone know goblin? For they yell out in goblin...
