”Honest admission. Captain Byam. This one will not be able to assist – it would simply sink,” Palisade said, inviting the gnome to consider it’s metallic frame and closer to two hundred pounds worth of steel in armour and weapons strapped to its body. ”Perhaps it can provide covering fire instead,” it continued, taking out its heavy crossbow and a box of quarrels.

Byam considered the situation, "Well, I needs the help out there so maybe we can tie you up and drop you from the bottom hatch. You could use yer crossbow in case that big sardine gets near us 'gain."

Action 2:

Bronwyn slowly pulled herself to her feet. Her face was as white as a sheet and her eyes as wide as saucers as she stared at the ginormous shark who seemed to circle the ship for awhile before disappearing from sight. Her legs were shaking so she kept hold of things that were bolted down until she could make her way back to Palisade. She stayed very close to the 'forged as his presence made her feel safe.

The wizard finally found her voice again as the ship began to surface and talk turned to repairs. "Captain, I offer magical help in the repair if you have need."

Action 3:

Did the ship actually surface and is tangled in the nets or is it still beneath the water and tangled?

It has not surfaced yet; it got caught on the nets.

The ships needs to be freed so it can surface and then be repaired.

Lucina is right. Why do all these complications happen to PCs? :)

Vi realized that they were in a lot of danger here, tangled in the nets, and sitting around being afraid wasn't helping. Swallowing hard, she said, "Okay, I can help. Do we take one of those potions?"

Still underwater? Ok, hanging from a rope line a bate at the end of a fishing line sounds like a wonderful idea. Perhaps Palisade can use one of those underwater bows the ship had, if it works better than its regular crossbow.

Lucina let out an exasperated sigh at the inconvenience of it all. "Very well. Show me where I can jump in..."

She moved toward the open hatch and jumped with her characteristic lack of grace. By the time she had hit the water with a loud splash, she had transformed in a dark gray hammerhead shark. She swam in a circle and then popped her unusually shaped head above the surface, as if to say 'Anyone who is coming better come', before disappearing back beneath the surface.

It took Vi a few seconds to get oriented in the water. The fins felt strange on her feet, and for a few long moments she didn't dare breathe. Finally she was forced to take a breath, and was relieved to discover that she didn't drown.

The strange sight of Lucina the shark Lusharka? reassured Vi, and she stayed near to her. As she swam towards the net, she caught movement in the dark water, just out of the ships sphere of light.

"Shark!" she tried to cry out underwater, pointing to where the enormous creature was lurking.

Can we talk underwater?

Female Human Fire Adept Wizard/5 | HP 32 | Init +2 | AC12 | Mage armor AC15 |

Before everyone exited the ship, Bronwyn did what she could to speed up the process. She spoke the arcane words needed to infuse the swimmers with magical speed.

Would like to caste Haste on as many in the water as she can. That would be Lucina, Vi, Palisade, plus 3 of the gnomes (unless Squeak is going - then 2 gnomes)

[ooc]Bronwyn could really only make the first perception DC and only if she rolls really well...

The wizard was practically paralyzed in the corner. Almost everyone had left the ship to enter their watery grave and there was nothing more she could do. There was absolutely no way that she could go out into the water. She tried to keep watch on them through the observation blister but her eyes kept closing under their own volition. She just couldn't bare to watch.

Warforged Cleric 6 | AC 21/23 | HP 51 | HD 5/5 |1st 4/4, 2nd 3/3, 3rd 3/3

No need to waster a waterbreathing pot on Palisade, as it doesn't need to breath in the first place ;^) Also, if the crew has a piercing weapon to lend to it in addition to the underwater bow, Palisade will gladly accept. A spear, perhaps? Hammer will be useless underwater, and I don't see greatsword being all that great either... if a spear or some such is not to be had, Palisade will keep a dagger at hand for emergencies.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Hanging unceremoniously from the end of the line, Palisade remained motionless with the exception of clumsy but mechanically rhythmical kicks of its feet, that kept it slowly turning one way and when the rope it was hanging from became overly twisted and began resisting overmuch, it simply reversed its direction, thus keeping itself constantly scanning a different sector of the dark depths for approaching enemies.

Squeak - heavier even than Palisade - stayed safely ensconced in the viewing room. Immobile as a statue, he picked out the targets lurking in wait.
"It is an ambush." he stated, calmly. "What were those shark people called again?"

Female Human Fire Adept Wizard/5 | HP 32 | Init +2 | AC12 | Mage armor AC15 |

Squeak's statement caused Bronwyn's eyes to fly open and she sat bolt upright. "What?!? An ambush? But they're like fish in a barrel out there." The wizard still couldn't see the threat in the water but she trusted Squeak. Bronwyn quickly scrawled a few words in large script on a piece of paper and pressed it against the glass of the observation blister. SHARK! AMBUSH! SAHUAGINS! She then knocked as hard as she could on the glass to get their attention. "Owww," she cried before massaging her knuckles.

The blood in the water stirred the bloodlust in Ice's cold heart, and Vi felt it pound through her veins. Fear forgotten, she swam towards the shark, ready to avenge the gnome it had devoured.

Underwhelming... but Palisade isn't an archer with its room-temperature Dex. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any chance in heaven or hell that it can move itself around in the slightest, so there's no other option but to keep shooting or wait for something to get close.

Actually... I'm not sure if Palisade can even fire twice, considering you need a move action to load the damn bow. But this round, at least, that doesn't matter in the slightest.

Vi screamed as the rows and rows of razor sharp teeth shredded her flesh. A bloom of bubbles rose to the surface, carrying her cries of pain with them. However, rather than swim away, the pain infuriated her. Screaming again, this time in rage, she lashed out again. Bronwyn's spell added speed to her movements, and she struck again and again, lashing out at the gills on the other side, hoping to suffocate the dead-eyed predator.

Ice slashed easily through the sandpapery skin, though her other dagger was unable to penetrate. The creature's blood became so thick that only the thrashing of its thick tail kept the water clear enough to see through.

Palisade found the underwater terrain very distracting. The drag of water on the quarrel was a completely different beast than that of air, and the trashing shark, as it did its level best to tear off a piece of meat from Vi's body didn't make aiming any easier. Thus the 'forged's next bolt swam harmlessly past both combatant, but the next one did strike through, even though the small bolt seemed little more than a thorn in the huge beast's hide.

Lucina winced as the shark tore into Vi violently. This was what she had expected. Still, the woman was lashing back viciously. The only way to survive was to kill this thing or at least hurt it enough that it would deem the group of them not worth the effort. Bit torn here. If Squeak is really, really heavy then it makes sense he would be worried about "falling", and this fits in with his phobia. Don't want to make people fight without him though.

Action 1:

Bronwyn hesitated a moment before speaking. "Yes, I have learned non-fire spells. But I was focused on the undead and the Emerald Claw. I don't think they'll be much help now in the water."

Her heart sank as she looked through the glass but could see nothing but blood-churned water. "They're okay, aren't they Squeak?"

Action 2:

Bronwyn ran over and gave Vi and Palisade each a hug. Her face paled at the extent of Vi's injuries. "It looks like I was right to be worried. But I'm sure you're going to tell me that I should see the other guy, right? Palisade, you can heal companion Vi I'm sure. Did the sahuagins do anything?"

Wiping her blade clean of the corrosive salt water, she sheathed it. The changeling shuddered briefly, remembering the feel of the rows of teeth. Maybe Lucina is right. Registering what Bronwyn said, Vi asked, "Sahuagin? I didn't see any of those. They were there? Good thing they didn't attack. For their sake."

So Fabian said that Bronwyn could learn 2 spells to add to her spellbook and scribe 2 spells to scrolls...so the 2 spells she's adding to her spellbook are Halt Undead and Create Pit. The scrolls she scribed are Scorching Ray and Fireball. I'm also going to change her prepared spells for tomorrow.

B would love to fly away with Squeak :)

Bronwyn did not like any of her choices. She most certainly was not going into the water and she did not want to sit on top of the ship. She was going to resign herself to staying cooped up in the Sea Dart when Squeak mentioned flying to the top of the outcropping. "Ooooh, can you take me with you? Despite his trepidation Squeak's new Enhancement works perfectly. With Bronwyn clasped in his arms, and a picnic basket and blanket tied to his back, his new Engine engages. Enormous mechanical wings extend to guide the flight and, with all the grace of a half ton chicken the Warforged takes to the sky and lands atop the stone.

Bronwyn shared none of Squeak's anxiety because she had complete faith in both the 'forged that they would always keep her safe. She was thoroughly thrilled that he agreed to take her and was excited about spending some time basking in the sun away from the water. "Yay! I'm ready when you are."

"But perhaps its for the better for me to stay here. Clearly my eyes work better on the land." How did I miss that shark coming! she chastised herself silently.
