This is the most concentrated grouping of bad saving throws I think I've ever seen. Sorry to not join in the fun, but I prefer doing stuff instead.
;)

As you can all no doubt tell... we're running out of map!
Which is a good indicator that we are nearing the end of our current chapter!
As such, could everyone pm me an email address to eventually send chronicles too (don't post it here) ... will use this same address for all 6 parts as we go along.
As to the chronicles, I have been doing them as form fillable pdf's... just out of habit now. Whether you actually use the form fillable part is up to you, they print off fine, regardless. =)

Tad has the agile tongue feat. It says he can 'make melee touch attacks with his tongue.' This would give a 10 ft range for melee touch attacks. Does cure light wounds count as a melee touch attack? I see many people seeming to argue that it does, but I just wanted to check before posting a heal to Monty since it seems really cool but a grey area to me.
| EM±GM |
Cure light wounds is indeed a touch attack. So yes, you can deliver it with the tongue... good thing Monty's unconscious, given recent experiences with such appendanges...
But you still have to make a concentration check to cast it while entangled... (DC 16 in this case)... unless you manage to break free first (see post on appropriate DC's for that)
| EM±GM |
OK, the worst of it is over ... (well, I suppose Monty and Faliana still have an issue to address =))
Mostly talking for the rest of it, so we can go ahead and get some of the paperwork stuff worked out.
So if folks can roll day job checks, and ask any faction card questions they might have.
Nigel would count as an NPC scholar, the vargouilles were evil outsiders (with the evil subtype), one of the undead was CR 1.
Two of the scrolls are on the alchemists list, so Dale can copy them into his formula book, if he wants (Cure Moderate Wounds and False Life), for the typical price for such things (don't think he can fail the spellcraft check on a take 10).
Still need an email address from Dru, to send the chronicle too when I finish them.
Oh... and good job everyone embracing the RP of it all =) Some of the most interesting stuff in this game happens when people fail things! As a Season 0 (with 6 folks, and low tier), that one was not the most challenging, but the RP side can make it fun anyway!

Day Job: Profession (merchant): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Faction card question: would Nigel also count as an NPC merchant, trader, smuggler, or similar figure?
Mr. Monty
|
Changing my faction since I never actually decided on one, and Sovereign court seems to work for a Sage Counselor.
In which case, I don't suppose I can use this whole incident at the museum as "blackmail or incriminating evidence against a named aristocrat" since Nigel is one? (Blackrose family)
| EM±GM |
@Brady: Nah, he was the curator of the museum!
@Monty: nothing blackmaily or incriminaty about any of this. They made a legitimate purchase... it just all went sideways =)
@Drusilla: got it thanks... just as an fyi - that warp wood that messed up your morning star, is permanent. You might have to get a new one... I'd guess the old one would be considered 'destroyed' ... though I suppose you can keep it if you want one that imparts a -4 to hit penalty (Will note it one way or the other on the chronicle). =)
(I was going to try warping Faliana's long spear too since it could do it at will... but she stopped using it at the end there... and then my idol got destroyed)

Can you do a day job as well as a faction card? I believe I had taken 10 on alchemy if you scroll upwards.
If you can do both then... I'll be rereading through to see about something for the Dark Archives...
Faliana "Conduit" Galina
|
Dang you guys are fast!
Faliana would have used her longspear if she could, but the positioning there at the end wasn't very good, it was literally all she could do to get on top of the idol.
I don't have a trained downtime activity, but if for whatever reason I can't try to recruit Blackros I'd like to try spending my downtime reinforcing connections.
Dale the Sage
|
Heh, recruiting him to the Dark Archives is something I was thinking of as well. Not sure how that works.
I also could attempt to ID those scrolls that I totally missed we found in game. Dale would definitely be taking a look at those!
Also question GM: That 500g we found in game, can that be used to purchase in game temporary loot? What I'm thinking is remove disease for our two companions.

Dale: your +lvl bonus to craft (alchemy) checks to create alchemical items doesn't apply to day jobs checks. A bonus has to apply to all aspects of the skill to count for day jobs.
Forgive me if I may, I really hate to be that guy, but I don't believe that's quite correct. The guide says (pg.34)
Permanent bonuses from the following list affect your Day Job check as they would any check for the rolled skill. Temporary bonuses from sources other than crafter’s fortune do not affect Day Job checks.
• Equipment
• Feats
• Racial bonuses
• Class features
• Traits
• Familiar bonuses
• Crafter’s fortune spell
The alchemist bonus is definitely a class feature, definitely permanent, and i can't find anything about it needing to apply to "All aspects" for it to count in dayjobs, either in the faq or guide, primer, or field guide. Unless there was a clarification somewhere I'm not aware of, the alchemist bonus should still count.

I've read a bit about this and it has never been declared one way or the other. So there can be a bit of table variation, so Em is within reason to say he can't use the bonus on day job checks.
On a different note, I spent too long typing the post in the gameplay thread on my phone and I'll get something interactive up later.

Whatever works, its no huge loss either way.
Oh don't mind me. I just hate contradicting a GM for any reason, so if I do i tend to go overboard in making sure I'm right before I say anything. After all, if I had a dime for everytime a gm had to remind me of a rule i've forgotten, I'd be rich.

Bonuses to Day jobs have to be blanket bonuses... that apply to all uses of that skill.
Any kind of conditional or partial bonus does not apply.
I can point you here, for an official response on the topic, though not sure where it was originally mentioned, as I don't feel like looking =)
| EM±GM |
As to previous comments...
Nigel is not a aristocrat/noble/ambassador I do not believe, so that Sovereign Court item would not apply (though I waffle a bit on this... the Blackros' are not nobility... but often marry them... so it gets a little murky)
He does qualify for the Dark Archive version of the same (as they are after Scholars and the like) though.
It would require you talking to him, and trying to get him to agree to assist said faction. (You're not actually recruiting them to join or anything).... then making the appropriate check. (You don't have a big in character discussion or anything... I'm ok with a 'have a quiet chat with him in the corner' sort of off screen conversation. Up to you.)
I'll hand wave the scroll identifying at this point. You know what they are.
As to the money, you can use it to purchase things of course, though it will often reduce the money to divvy up at the end of things.
It costs 150 gp to get a Remove Disease cast (spell level * caster level * 10 = 3 * 5 * 10) ... though you might need to find a temple open at night... Ashava maybe? =))
You can also get one cast for a single prestige point.

Awesome! I'll add it to my source links! (I have a stupid amount of those from forums and such)

egads, I *hate* typing on virtual keyboards ... and that's on a tablet that at least pretends its a keyboard.
Doing that on a phone would drive me nuts!
Though probably explains the lack of carriage returns! =)
Dale the Sage

Well looks like we'll let Monty and Faliana decide how they want to deal with their impending doom. Dale will do his best to get them to the proper people in a prompt manner. I'm assuming its not a disease where a heal check can help?
As far as my season 8 card I'll give a go recruiting the man. I'll leave making the magic item IDs to in game.

Thaddeus Treeskipper wrote:Tad is going to check off the evil creature box on the silver crusade faction card.Alternately, you might want to consider contributing 100 gp to Monty and Faliana's cure...
That one's a lot cheaper to get when you're level 1 (Remove Disease has the healing descriptor)
OK, that's what I'll do.

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
For those doing paperwork ahead of time (ie: before I get the chronicles out)
It will be 1 XP, 2 Prestige (you didn't kill the employees!), and
509 gold pieces (+ day job).
Tad, Monty, and Faliana will each be spending 100 gp for the two cures.
Dru's out a weapon.
And Dale will be scribing two 2nd level spells from the scrolls (scribing costs are 40 gp each (so 80 total)).
Mr. Monty

So Em, do you like for us to list all the shopping we do in-between missions or do you just want us to add it to sheets and keep track of gold and things ourselves?
Dale the Sage

That's a good question. I'm also trying to decide on a wand purchase for you to put on that chronicle but now with heightened awareness not working as I thought I'm still trying to decide...
Where were the wayfinder enhancements again? I'm looking for the one that provides detect magic. Otherwise I may get a wand of identify, but I'd rather just have detect magic.
| EM±GM |
Ya, I like at least knowing what things you pick up...
I will occasionally mention the bigger purchases on the chronicle... but only once you hit level 2. Things are too fluid with rebuilds and such at level 1 to put too much effort into it then =)
Prestige purchases I will always mention on the chronicle though.

That's the Discerning Wayfinder enhancement.
I know this because my investigator got an inherited discerning wayfinder. Both those particular enhancements are in the Pathfinder Society Primer
They are only purchasable with prestige I believe... (If you've played The Confirmation, and it was your first scenario, you can reduce the cost with the boon on there.)

I have a rules question I would like to run by you before it becomes an issue. Tad can prepare spells from his primary domain (fire) in his non-domain spell slots. It seems to me that he can still lose them to spontaneously cast CLW, since they are not domain slots, even if the spell they are replacing is a domain spell. I can see the argument the other way, though.
| EM±GM |
There we go! Now we're officially done scenario one! =)
And set up for the next bit.
Session reported... chronicles tonight!
-----------------
Tad - Hrmm... spontaneous casting specifies domain spells (not slots). So At first glance, I'd have to say if you prepare a domain spell in a non-domain slot, it's still a domain spell and thus not convertible. But I could be convinced otherwise!
Monty - its like you already know what's on the chronicle! =)
Also, if anyone's Initiative or Perception change from where they started, try to remind me... so I can update my little cut and paste code for it.

One other thing boss, I'm swapping out my profession sage for acrobatics instead. Just looking at where I want to go with this character, the money I get from the profession check just isn't worth it. Maybe at a different level, but for the next mission at least, I'm gonna see which is better.
