Just so you know, I will be at Strategicon all weekend (Friday-Monday evening). Probably won't be home til late Monday. I will try to keep up with posts via phone and computer at the hotel, but I will be mega-busy at the con, so no guarantees. Please bot my character as necessary to keep the game flowing... Thanks, and sorry in advance for my absence.

I'll be gone camping this weekend. I probably won't be able to post anything until Monday night when I get back. I'll try to keep track the best I can and post if necessary, otherwise feel free to have him shoot stuff if you need him to do so. Have a great weekend!

No worries. Seems like lots of folks are somewhat occupied this long weekend!

I'll just keep checking in from time to time, and if you figure out what you want to do (if anything) about the lookout outside, I'll move it along!

'Til then, waiting is ok.

We have been moving along at a good clip with lots of interaction from you guys, so yay! (already 4 pages in, that's pretty good!)
Have always found a good pace keeps people interested and eager to check in to see what's happened.

A slower weekend from time to time is fine. =)

Say, Nella... I notice you have that Adoration domain power.

Can I assume that you will use this any time I try to target you? Just as a heads up to myself, to save you having to mention it after the fact and needing to retcon things.

(No this doesn't mean I'm about to attack you!)

Based on the map, I'm thinking our options for getting in are to either nonviolently incapacitate the guard in some manner (sleep, charm) or to try and sneak in either through the water or by making some sort of distraction elsewhere on the street.

I'm hesitant to just try talking to him directly because anything we say is going to be met with a ton of suspicion; he doesn't know us but he knows that we shouldn't know anything about Skelg or what's going on unless Skelg or someone tied to him sought us out.

As long as someone does something... I'll be content =)

We are doing much better this time than the time I played this in CORE. We went down to 2 people, myself and a rouge that didnt even try to flank,

Lots of factors there, from the levels of the participants (we have three 1's, two 2's and a 3), whether the guard outside gets involved, to getting a surprise round (else they plug up the doorway), to just general die luck (good or bad).

And how the GM interprets the mucked up npc stats I suppose =)

Bringing the OOC points up here so the main thread doesn't get cluttered:

If there aren't any papers or anything written of interest, I'd say we leave Skelg's stuff here for now since we can't carry it back. Maybe leave an anonymous tip-off to authorities a bit later that that's where his stuff went?

I'd also say to just tie the warriors up and leave 'em here for right now, maybe to be found with the stolen belongings? True, there's always the chance that one guy outside might decide to come back and free his buddies but if we take the key to this place then it would take him some time to get back inside.

As for who should carry the lantern, I'd guess probably one of the beefier people in the party but I'm not picky :)

I think we head back to Skelg and tell him about the treasure. Let Skelg and his man (keep forgetting his name...) figure out how to get this stuff back.

I think that the key to getting Skelg, and now Masym, fixed is using the lantern's third use (whole ship). Notice that the info from Tchak said that using that large portal would close all other portals.

But we also need some sort of special oil. Don't know where we'll get that.

It seems that taking the lantern to the proximity of the tapestry might help us find some clues.

Just kinda brainstorming. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

A couple of points here:

1) There is a push cart in the warehouse where we could take not only the loot but the Ulfen warriors as well back to Skelg's manor.

2) I do like the idea of using the longship to travel through the portal, but we would need to take the tapestry back to the warehouse first. Also we should try to get the Ulfen warriors to help us now that we want to undo the lantern's curse.

3) I suspect we would need to get the oil needed back up north here, he he.

Loot + Ulfen's might be a bit beyond the cart's capacity.

Phoebee, I'm not sure there's a place to lock them up.

If my character was more cold-blooded I'd accidently have them fall in the water (and drown) or something else. I mean, they did attack us with the intent to kill.

Using the lantern to take the ship somewhere is very cool and I'm ready to do that. But I think we need to do something with that tapestry. So my suggestion is put as much of Skelg's loot in the cart as we can fit. Take that and the lantern (someone can carry it, I think) back to Skelg's place. Check out the tapestry. See what happens.

I'm hoping we find out something and end up back here at the ship. At the very least we'll give some of Skelg's treasure back to him and tell him where he can find the rest.

But I'll go along with the party. Whatever we decide (soon, I hope).

heh. I much prefer someone who will make a decision to folks who get all wishy-washy about doing so for fear of stepping on a toe. =)

PbP pacing can be slow enough already. It needs a player or two to be a bit more decisive.

Its the difference between...

"Should we open the door on the left?" vs "I open the door on the left."

Option two is much better at moving the narrative along! (Even if the door on the left was trapped!)

Admittedly, I have a tendency, you may have noticed, to get a bit descriptive ... which then has potential Magic Cow issues that add a bit to the problem.

Hell, I played this scenario in pbp a few years ago, and from start to finish, it was 5 pages of posts and took a month and a half

You guys are about 2/3rds of the way along and already on page 7 after only 3 weeks or so.

So as Jones' says... as long as folks are enjoying the process, its all good!

As mentioned, this is my first time doing the PbP Gming thing... so feel free to comment on things that aren't working, or ways to make things work better!
