'Dventurer's Gild List of Mighty Deeds (Inactive)

Game Master Oterisk

In the war torn country of Galt, there exists a peaceful village somehow. Within that village is an abandoned house where the children of the village have set up a guild to take care of small problems in the area.

character relationships, now we're gettin somewhere. I like where we're going with all this.

side note: I notice a lot of people playing tieflings on these boards, in general. curious.

Lantern Lodge

Next to drow, tieflings are my favorite, guess I like the darker aspects.

Actually you get 4HP, max of D6, -2 con mod. If you dont modify anything about HP.

BACKGROUND

History:

Reference only / Rakshasa blood / +2 dex, +2 cha, -2 wis / disguise, sense motive / 51 talk with birds

Treila's mother, Stacy, was attacked and kidnapped while travelling on business. She was later rescued but ended up with child, thus Triela was born. The family was split as to whether or not to keep the child, however, Stacy wanted to keep her (her fiance died and marriage didn't look promising at the time) so the familydecided to give Triela a chance. They had a big hand withhelping some locals start a village further away from town, and so decided to send Stacy, Triela, and Stacy's brother, Jack, to Picket to more directly deal with problems and business as they arose and to keep Triela out of sight until she proved herself worthy and capable upon reaching the age of 16.

Azten, that sounds like a fun character to play. Feel free to stat him up.

DarkLightHitomi, I love the flavor of what you are getting into, but you have added one too many traits and haven't taken a campaign trait either. The first 'dventure will be short, and you will be able to pick up another trait soon, but the whole concept is that these characters are not fully realized yet. They may have some options unavailable to start, but you will get there as you go on more 'dventures.

Also, a 9 year old who is 2'6 and 22 pounds? That's a tiny character. Literally, "Tiny". I have an 10 month old son that is 34 pounds. Humans generally hit half their height between 2 and 2 1/2 years. I've posted late at night in the past and have over looked some things, I have done the same. Just a heads up for you.

Merck, I love the concept of Galt as well. There is plenty to explore here and lots of possibilities for intrigue. I look forward to what you will come up with.

Arkus, There sure are quite a few tieflings. The problem with playing monstrous races is that the more that are played, the less special they are. I also may only pick one, to preserve the flavor of the town. Tieflings are much more prevalent in Cheliax, which is pretty far from here.

Alejandro was born into wealth and lives on his parent’s Plantation just outside of town
His father was an expert swordsman and had Alejandro begin his training at the age of 4.
His mother always educated him on how to be a “gentleman” but he had a wild nature and liked to sneak out of the house to pretend he was some daring and dashing rogue saving the damsel in distress.

When he started attended school he would frequently get into trouble causing disruptions in the class and letting his “imaginary persona” get the better of him, often being picked on by some of the older kids as well as getting in trouble with the adults.

His wooden sword is what he used to practice with but it has no combat value except as a club. The whip he stole from the family stable / carriage house when he heard about this guild and he wanted to join. Especially when he found out that *** was joining.

Also, being that the number of good applicants is increasing, I will likely give an earlier deadline of when I will close recruitment. I will give 24 hours notice to when that will happen, but this announcement is likely to happen before the weekend is over.

are you looking to have alias's at this time?

Alias's are not in any way necessary. I only need story and stats, aliases are easy to make and hard to unmake.

Just saw this opportunity and love the idea. Glad I am not too late.

Please tell me if this is too dark, and maybe a way to lighten it some. I want to play a street urchin; Unwanted or orphaned. Maybe his mom is a alcoholic, or not able to care for him for some other reason. His dad would not be around. Maybe he is homeless. He would hide this as best he could. He wants to be in the club mostly because he has no other family and sees the "dventures" as more real than the rest of the kids. The "I'm booooooooored" trait would work, but maybe it should be replaced with "chores" to scrounge for food. I can see him always being first to meetings because he is sleeping in the club house, but does not want anyone to know.

I could go with a "tough" half orc build, but would prefer to go a"sneaky" halfling approach. He would be shabbier than the other kids, and always hungry. And he would have learned to steal at a very early age.

Thoughts Oterisk? Does this fit with your idea?

Height and Weight from Babies to Teens. I know that for modern day human, but I figure it could help anyway.

Skorn- Alcoholic mom would be the best route, possibly abused. In a small town with good aligned people in it, it is more likely that someone would take care of the little guy if they could. But if his mom is around, it would make it more difficult, especially if she is possessive and refuses help. We don't have anyone associated with a tavern, and it is possible that she works for or owns the local tavern/inn for easy access to alcohol. You could learn to steal from the patrons, or from the kitchen for scraps. A local man or a traveler could give you some tips on how to do it better if he has pity on you or is a thief himself. Something like that could fit very well in the town.

Azten, that's a great resource. Thanks for looking it up for us.

Not a problem, I've used it before for two other child characters. They were both in a more adult game though, so this should be a nice change of pace. :)

Equipment: Clothes, small sharp rock

Traits: “I’m boooooooooooooooooored!”: Your parents don’t require you to do chores.

Tiefling Racial Features: Bluff and Stealth are class skills for you. You get a -1 to diplomacy and have darkvision 30’

Description:
Jerrie's got very little in the way of physical fiendish heritage. Silver eyes and matching teeth unnerve people the rare times he smiles, glinting strangely in the light-even when there isn't any. His innate grasp of the Abyssal language is a pretty big hint too.

Personality:
Jerrie's quite when he can be, and has a weird sense of right and wrong. Why can only the grown ups punish people when they do something wrong? That's not fair, and he knows it.

If he feels he can trust someone though, they've gained a loyal(and sometimes very vocal) friend.

Friends, Family, and General Background:
The Yrrum family decided to leave Isarn a few months after Jerrie was born and it was becoming obvious he wasn't human. Human teeth don't look like silver after all, and their first word isn't usually დედა either.

Hoping the people of the village would be a bit more understanding, the family moved there. Jerrie's father became a logger fairly easy, and his mother helps out at the general store now that he can look after himself.

Of course, since he hasn't been given any chores and the 'Dventurer's Gild can take up so much of his time, Jerrie's been going around town and watching people. Some of them do things that are bad and wrong, but they never got punished. He tried to tell his parents, but he just thought he was making up terrible stories because he was bored. That was when Jerrie decided he would punish the bad people of this town in whatever way he could. How hard could it be?

Of course, his brand of justice has him labled as a no-good trouble-maker now, and it doesn't help that he doesn't explain just why he does what he does, not even to his fellow Gild members.

When he isn't punishing people, Jerrie likes to go climb trees the loggers have left standing. It's nice up there, listening to the wind going through the leaves and forgetting everything else for a little while.

Skorn - Tacked on to all of the above, with a mom like that, She's likely let you run off if you whined enough. "I’m boooooooooooooooooored!" would probably work spelndidly in that situation.

I'd like to submit Maverick for your consideration. I went with the Warrior class for a more well rounded character. Go Fort Save and Hit Points!

I'll make an Alias immediately if selected. Let me know if there is anything missing, I think I got everything correct but his stat block looks kind of small. It could just be the layout I used though.

Background: Maverick is the son of the local Blacksmith. Maverick's chores involve labor much harder than what the other kids might be accustomed to including moving iron around for his father and shoeing horses. This has led to Maverick growing up to be a strong, well rounded individual. He suffers a little bit socially and is often dirty from being covered in ash and soot but is well mannered, brave and articulate beyond his years. Maverick's life goal is to study Smithing with the Dwarves in the Northern Mountains (after all, they make the best stuff!) and then continue the family business in his later years.

I was curious if there was any way you might consider bending the rules to allow the Adept class? Perhaps by limiting the spell selection to Light & Cure Light Wounds I could create a second submission to fill the "Healer" role for the party?

Also wondering if you use maps for your adventures? I like maps.

Actually in my backstory I wrote that my Mother and Father own the/one of the tavern(es). (Didn't know how many would be in town.) I'm about to PM my stats and Background over to you.

I would like to introduce Tomid for your consideration. Tomid stands just under 2 feet tall and the few times he stands still enough to tell, you can note, through considerable dirt and grime, green eyes under a mop of flame red hair. Tomid's mother works at a local Inn, and Tomid can often be found there pilfering items from the kitchen.

I made Tomid 7 years old, but can adjust that based on what you had in mind. In place of his one trait, he has the expert class. I think I built him correctly, but please take a look. While he has no gear with a cost, I did equip him for now with a few weapons that are free. Oh, and rocks. He seems to like rock.

Doo dee doo, cleaning up the profile some. Adding a little flavor.

Hey Edward, my character's father works with horses. Could he be the stable master (or head groom to be historically accurate) on the Mondragon Plantation?

I ask because it would be a little hilarious if 'The Dragon' had a long suffering lackey/servant/squire to drag around.

There, I updated Cash's background to reflect their... friendship.

Azten- Interesting write up, it seems solid.

DougFungus- I almost did allow the adept, but I want this to be a really low powered game. Also, I haven't decided how long each adventure would be and what you will be dealing with. I am pretty sure that the first bit will not need healing spells, and we will work it out from there. I will allow options for people who want to be spellcasters some day.

Also, I am working on a rudimentary map system that I borrowed from another GM. It won't be pretty, but it should do the trick.

Tomid- Good, I was hoping someone would try a halfling. Also, there are a few free weapons, so that is a good choice. Also, I think there are lots of TV shows and movies that fit into this trope.

DLH- Very good, thank you.

Harark-

Spoiler:
I can't tell you that, it would ruin the surprise! (also, we are pretty far from any lakes, so it might be tough to get a pirate ship here.)

@ cash that was great.
I will need to update soon but it is like way late for me and I am tired and I had little bit o' rum so everything is like awesome right now.

Oterisk wrote:

: All characters will get one trait. Trait rules still apply: you cannot pick more than one trait from any category. Traits that don’t really apply to children will be frowned upon. Also, no Rich Parents or other trait that gives you any kind of money.

Campaign Traits: These traits are available to anyone, providing you have a trait available. Everyone must take one of these (campaign traits) or if you are feeling clever, make up another one that fits your character subject to my approval of course.

This is a friendly reminder and a last warning. Bold emphasis and parentheses were added since original post for clarity.

I feel silly for completely missing that but it is fixed now

Lantern Lodge

Yeah I missed the second one. Does that mean that selecting a different class isn't a "campaign " trait? It is campaign specific so I would guess yes but figure I should ask, since I didn't consider it before.

I have to jump in here and say "me too." For some reason I was thinking that IF you took a trait you had to take a campaign trait. I was thinking that if I took a class level other than commoner then I would have no traits and so did not end up with a campaign trait.

Fixed it.

So I had to rebuild as a human. Same story. No longer tiny which might have been fun, but with Tiny my stealth was just too high. I think this will work better with the game.

Lantern Lodge

OMG! The commoner gets perception as a class skill but only half the core PC classes get the same?!

DLH--I suppose, technically yes. Sigh. And here I was all geeked out about the silly quotes I had come up with for the campaign traits that I expected everyone to take or make up their own. Tell you what: Make up a silly little quote and add a sentence or two of flavor text explaining how you got the other NPC class and we will call it good.

Edit: That goes for you too, Tomid

Lantern Lodge

How about,

"I know, I know, 'I must always stand up straight.'" You start with the Aristocrat class. In addition you have six hours of tutoring and practice instead of chores.

Your family is one of wealth or station. You are taught, and expected, to act accordingly.

There we go. I feel better about that already.

Although, now that I took out some of the main structural problems that people had, this is going to make it much harder to make a choice of who is in and who isn't.

A little over 16 hours until recruitment ends...

Looks like I only used my Feat on achieving the Warrior Class and still have a Trait available. Ill take "I gots a popped blister, wanna see?!” since it fits in well with my background.
