Congratulations fellow young'ins. I'm reviewing profiles and seeing where Fred'ick might fit in with everyone's lives. Y'know aside from founding the guild together.
I imagine that he knows Arkus through his father. It seems reasonable that Fred'ick's Da would see the local blacksmith on occasion for arrows and trapping supplies. It also seems likely that his Da had a drinking buddy. Perhaps the same guy?

Tomid reporting in. Thanks for the chance to play Oterisk.
One question - What are our ages? I was guessing as young as 5 or 6 but no older that 9 or 10.
Since the town has a population of 100 I am sure everyone knows everyone. Does that 100 count everyone, or just adults or maybe only men? Can we get a rough breakdown on who's who in the town?
Maybe something like:
Men - 50
Women-30
kids- 20
Seems like too many kids. And we may have more men if the lumber workers are counted as part of the town.
Just thinking out loud we should have the following NPCs and their families:
Storekeep
Smith
Butcher
Innkeeper
Farmers?
Lumber Miller? Maybe the lumber is hauled away to be milled though
Lumberjacks - Not sure if the lumberers are actually part of the town or out in the woods at lumber camps.
And since there is a vacant house, maybe the town is shriking some? Or is there some other reason a house is vacant?

I can guarantee you that in a small village recently founded with not a whole lot of entertainment, there will be plenty of kids in there. In that time, the more hands available, even if they were small hands, were useful, especially amongst the farms. Also with kids gaining responsibility at a far earlier age than we have in our modern culture.
Figure that any family with less than three children is a tragedy, especially with the amount of people being killed in revolutions in this country. It is possible that there could be as many as twice the amount of kids that you theorize. Feel free to work out what your parents do, and we can fill in the gaps in what is needed from there.
Tomid |
OK. Will do. Still need to know about our actual ages.
Tomid lives with his mother. His father is not around, and certainly did not move with them to Picket. They have a single room at the (or one of the) Inn(s) where his mother works. He is an only child. The represent 2 of the few halflings in the area.

Most of the kids in the guild will be between the ages of 8-12, because usually after puberty starts they are expected to work full time.
Also, it seems as if there is a shrine to Erastil in the woods. There may be a small temple of some kind in the town as well. I was actually thinking that the Inn/Tavern could also be a temple to Cayden Cailean, but I could be persuaded against this if other people had ideas.

Arkus's mom has healing/first aid skills of some sort, so I imagine she's somewhere between herbalist, cleric, adept, or just a commoner who took ranks in heal. Pop's a blacksmith for the town, so he's always poundin out horseshoes, nails, fittings, tools, that sort of thing, occasionally working on a sword and shield he one day hope Arkus will be strong enough to wield. Oh yeah, and arrows too, good point.
Side note: PFSRD/PRD really needs an easier way to look up the deities. I'm more familiar with 3.5 pantheon than this one, and its like 3 pages deep to get to the listing unless I wiki it or something.
As for where everyone fits in, well, that I'm not sure about. haven't had to think like a kid in about 20 years or so, lol. I can adapt to established ideas though. Throw em out there and I'll see where I can squeeze in.

Jerrie,
Based on your background maybe you and Tomid are good friends. Likely, since you have no chores he would always try to get you to help out cleaning the main room at the Inn so he could be done with his chores sooner. Tomid is too short to reach the tree branches you climb. He always needs a boost up. :)
Tomid |
We are both stealthy. Tomid is different too. He is tiny, and that stands out way more than silver hair and dental work. He likely does not think anything about your differences, or thinks they are cool.
Tomid |
Jerrie, your nickname needs to be something to do with silver or silver coins, but not too direct as to give it away. What is the name of the local silver piece? You know, sometimes gold pieces are Lions or Imperials or whatever. The local Silver piece will be called something.
Nice build Jaeryll. "Want some help with your chores? I was here first Jerrie. I am helping Jaeryll today, not you!" :P
Fred'ick |
Hooray! The troublemakers found each other. This is going to lead to some splendid 'dventures.
I think in a country like Galt there are a ton of different coins. The government is always in flux, neh?
Maybe the coin is a reminder to those in authority, with a guillotine or headsman’s axe? We could call Jerrie “Blade”?
We could just call Jaeryll “Boss”. She’s likely the one that talked us into this whole ‘Dventurer’s Gild thing, after all.

I was going to start the gameplay thread this morning which would have started to answer some of your questions, but I have a migrane and it hurts to look at the white screen while I type. This doesn't usually happen, but I will get it started tomorrow.
The gild hall is an abandoned house which I figured would have been a one room building made of wood with a loft. It would have been a logger's house who had an unfortunate accident.
Many of you are going to be brand new to the gild, the kids who are older than you had kept you from joining because what they were doing was too "dangerous", but whether or not it was, is subject to rumor. But now many of them have moved on, and there is one more fellow by the name of Gerad who invited you all together and intends to pass off the gild to you. Any 'dventures you would have had would not have been associated with the gild.

My mother had a stroke we think. Her short term memory is not working. I am making arrangements to take a bit of her responsibility at our family business. What this means for you is that I won't be updating this thread for a while, possibly a couple of weeks until we can find out the extent of her injuries. I will likely be able to check on the boards ever day or two, but I can't put in the time for this right now since my workload just tripled (I was part time, she was full time).
I'm sorry to do this to you after we just started, but there really isn't anything I can do for it. I will let you know how she is doing when we get something conclusive.
Oterisk |
Thanks for the well wishing everyone. I hope it's just what they say and not anything more serious. I did have to pick up one shift, but other than that my schedule hasn't changed a whole lot. I will definitely be keeping up with this for a few 'dventures and we will see where we go from there.
It's okay Jerrie, feel free to interject yourself wherever you want. There hasn't been much going on that your character needed to be involved in yet. If you continue to have problems though, I know some other people who wouldn't mind jumping in on this.

Well, I have some bad news. Mom's condition was caused by stress, and so some of her workload is being placed on me. I don't have time to post nearly as much anymore, now working two jobs at about 60-70 hours a week between them. And posting while at work with the new responsibilities is less of an option than it was for me a month ago. And because both of my jobs get hectic during the holiday season, this isn't going to get better for a couple months. I don't have time to be learning new map making skill sets or even checking the board every day.
I am going to have to drop this campaign. I would also be dropping some of the ones that I play in if I had more than one that was posting regularly right now. I sincerely apologize, but it is just the way it will have to be. I appreciate all your hard work and enthusiasm.

No hard feelings; life comes first. work and family aren't to be ignored just for fun and games. I'll keep a bookmark here and check in for good news periodically, but I'm not too bummed about it. the good thing about PBP games is that there's no rush. when you have time again, so will we.
Take care of business and get life sorted out; the game will still exist when you return. I for one, will happily welcome you back at the first opportunity. Till then, hang in there, buddy.
