I have a character in that scenario right now. I have ended up grappling Gastidem seeing through all his lies. We learned early what was going on. A Monk's sense motive, and a wizards knowledges are a hard combo to beat.

Or, if you prefer (and the player is willing), defer the Acrobatics to Dex. We just need to get someone on the other side of the caster to hem him in.
