I let the sword pass into me, then pull it back around to strike him with the pommel/

Tom having woken up in the cathedral alone in the darkness sets to sanctify the cathedral refreshed and with newfound intensity for his faith.

Cast a Spell: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5

adding the confused penalty back to this and spells I was using pre-communing.

I should just hang this character and end his misery.

I have 2 gambits from Conwall's hits.

Once Ron realizes that Conwall is in actual danger, he charges Jakkar with Remorse flashing out towards the Elf's side..

Spend 1 gambit to change to aggressive, and 1 to get a +1 to this roll.

Hack & Slash: 2d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 + 1 = 11

Damage (pierce 2): 1d8 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + (1) = 2

Well, hopefully that at least bought you time to drink a potion.


Conwall

Jakkar goes down, but it comes at a cost, take -1 ongoing until you get that stomach wound treated. fatal blow, or do you take him alive?

Tom

The window of Conwalls room is broken, there is a patriotic/witchhunting mob in the bar, and the guard is hustling through the town. what do you do?

With her back to Hayden, she pauses and says, quietly, " If she's right, and you're protecting someone, your silence won't actually help them. This cult practices human sacrifice. " A pause. " Including children."

Tom will grab a guard and say, That is my friend's window, what happened here? If he can get more detail he will try to find Ron and Conwall.

I crush Jakkar's skull with the hilt of his sword, not stopping until his body vanishes. I then finish pulling the sword from my body and toss it to the ground. I slump into the corner, hands pushed tight against my stomach wound.

I'd...appreciate some medical assistance, if you don't mind...


Belym

The man remains silent, shoulders still heaving. you are ushered out as the guard starts moving in force toward the houses. what do you do?

Tom

The assistant mayor is being attacked. I don't know what happened to your friend, maybe he was attacked to. the guards says You should come, we might have need of a healer soon What do you do?

Conwall and Ron

What in the hells is going on? natria slams her fist on the table Were there Redcaps following you, Conwall? she says. Kenan starts wrapping bandages around your stomach heal 7 hp, remove the -1 what do you do?

I smile wanly at Kenan as he bandages my midsection and nod my head below my waste Ankle too, if it's not too much trouble. I fell out of a window...well it was more that I jumped though my landing left something to be desired.

With my wounds cared for, I push myself to my feet, a trail of blood left behind along the wall where I rested. I pick up Catastrophe, clean her off and replace her in my scabbard.

I apologize, Lady Natria. I sometimes forget that "discretion" is more than just a tavern in Little Beaux Bough. My actions in Norwich and surrounding seems to have attracted attention of a fringe group of Elven radicals. They're unlikely to have reported back so Ghostmoore is safe, for now. I don't think they'll send another group for some time.

I look to Ron. They threatened Jericho, at the very least. May have hurt her. Wouldn't have killed her, but definitely wanted to teach her a lesson about associating with me.

Ron's face tightens at the mention of Jericho. We will discuss these Redcaps at length once we depose Einora. Natria, I fear ye remain in danger. Please be careful.

Ron hands Conwall three potions he purchased earlier in the day. We should see to Belym and Tom, in case there are more.

I take the potions and shake my head We should see to our friends, but there won't be any other Redcaps. I'm frankly flattered that they felt the need to send two. I've never seen a problem the Redcaps thought a single Elf couldn't solve...

Ron can't contain his curiosity. So tell me, I assumed your people were fairly unified. These Redcaps stand against the leadership? I guess I thought you were something of an enemy of the state.

Do the Elves' items disappear? Do they literally wear distinctive red caps? If so, I want one to taunt the next one we come across. What is left behind when an Elf dies?

The faerie twinkles they poof into burn like thermite. Danyal had distinctive burn scars that marked him as an elf slayer. It got him in trouble from time to time.


Belym & Roshan

The guards fill you in on the way, the assistant mayor has been attacked. you guys arrive to find Natria slightly wounded, Conwall significantly more so, and ron is ruffling through a pile of red chainmail. what do you do?

Conwall

a few of the guards detain you, but Natria quickly explains that you defended her. the situation is calming down, for now. what do you do?

Ron

the loot is left behind, Conwall, do they have anything identifying them as Redcaps besides the enamled armour? along with the armour, you find 800 gold (Best not to consider where it came from). what do you do?

I frown, thinking of a good way to answer his question.

It's a little complicated. We elves don't have a king or queen. We have 13 great houses, each one ruling their own fiefdom within the Great Forest. The council of 13 rule on matters for all elves. Some great houses are more...progressive than others. Some of the older, more traditional houses think of humans as...embarrassing ancestral throwbacks. I'm no enemy of the state, but I may not necessarily be welcome home with open arms.

So these redcaps represent one of the 13 houses?

If the house is on fire, I wouldn't be casually talking without fixing that.

It's more that some houses are more sympathetic than others to the cause of the Redcaps, though none openly support them.

Yeah, if the house is on fire, we're putting the house out then chatting.

Kenan approaches you So you're the famous James Jervis Strong, glad to meet you he extends his hand warmly. what do you do?

Tom

You arrive quickly, and find Conwall wounded, and Natria and someone (presumable her husband) somewhat battered. the guard is forming a perimiter. what do you do?

Ron uses an old soldier technique to drop Kenan to the floor.

Ron hands Remorse to Conwall, removes his right gauntlet, and shakes Kenan's hand. The pleasure is mine. I'm sorry to bring trouble down upon your house, but I would recommend precautions. Elves are not to be trifled with.

Tom waltzes into he home to address any wounds. When he sees the boys he says, By Iisac's path, you two!Let me sleep the entire day in that cathedral only t' walk back t' the town with you two on a bit of a spree. Is that an elf? Conwall, I thought they didn't come down to these lesser lands...

Cast a Spell: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 1) + 2 = 9 -> attract unwanted attention.
Cure Wounds: 1d8 ⇒ 2

As Tom's magic has gotten stronger his hands have begun to radiant a gentle warmth felt a good six inches before his hands make contact to cure a wound. Touching Conwall's stomach the healing knits things together faster as well, and probably hurts as the actual wound closes and leaves it tender.

I finished removing that taint from the cathedral. It needs more work t' be fully restored, but it should at least not become profane without the cult retaking the land - hopefully it means no undead too. It's always hard to say if those will try to return from beyond on their own.

Belym waits outside, since Tom's tone implies any immediate crisis is past, and she doesn't want to further annoy the guard captain by interfering with his men unnecessarily.

The sallow youth walks past you, and commands James, Elf, I need you both to come with me, I want to be entirely sure that all the elves, present company excluded, are gone he says before walking up the stairs. what do you do?

Tom

Your spell heals Conwall well enough. Kenan seems to be examining your scars. what do you do?

Ron takes a long look at the guardsman and retrieves Remorse from Conwall. He leans in to Conwall and whispers to him. Ready yourself. Something is here is not what it appears.

Ron & Conwall

as you watch, he guard moves quickly, and it is soon clear that they are not investigating, but setting up a perimeter. covering exits, and getting in flanking position. They mean to kill you. A shreik echoes from downstairs, and the guards draw their blades in unison. What do you do?

Roshan, Belym, and Tom

as you all get inside, a large guard move in front of the door. Another draws his sword as they all move in towards you guys, and the happy couple. one of them slashes Natria, she goes down onto the ground, perhaps dead. The rest turn their blades on you guys, what do you do?

Can you set the scene a little bit? Where am I and Ron? Where are Roshan, Belym and Tom? Did I see someone slash Natria or was she the one who shrieked? How many town guard are in the room with me? What floor are we on?

More questions: How many guards were in the group that were with Roshan and Belym? What's the house made of - especially the floor?


Oh right, sorry, caught me slacking a little

Conwall and Ron stand in the large, single room upstairs. there is a stairwell, guarded by two men, and a window blocked by two more. the remaining seven guards have formed a circle around you, near the centre of the room. The only feature of the room is a large bed, and a table to the right of it.

Tom, Roshan, Belym, Kenan, and Natria are downstairs, in the largest room. There is one exit, blocked by two men, and three windows with a blocker each, the remaining assailants (10 of them) arrange themselve around you, but are symied by the table and chairs, and the shelves on the western wall.

I put numbers in my post, and the walls and floors are wooden. And I was Natria who shrieked. Any more questions?

I leap backwards, over the heads of the guards who have formed a circle around me. defy danger dex: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12
Upon landing, I kick hard and try to kick one of the guards flanking the stairs down the stairs
hack and slash: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2) + 2 = 9

I didn't go upstairs and I don't think Conwall did either. The guard said come upstairs, started walking upstairs, and I retrieved my weapon and stood prepared. Whoever drew that blade on Natria would have been on a spit before he knew what happened. Basically, I'm not sure that Natria being killed was justified without giving Conwall or I a chance to intervene.

Totally having a "that guy" moment, but from my perspective it went: 1) Save ex-girlfriend. 2) discern and call out ambush, 3) warp away from ex-girlfriend, 4) ex-girlfriend dies to ambush.

Cast a Spell (Hold Person): 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5) + 2 = 11->empower for two targets, attract attention.

Tom sees the fix is in, and he understands the problem immediately. Getting the jump on the guards at the door, he paralyzed them both immediately, Belym! Take the lady, go! Give her a potion as soon as possible! Roshan, guard the door and execute those men! They feel us trapped, but they do not understand they cannot bind our divine wrath! No surrender, no survivors!

Tom draws his sword and readies for these chumps.

We had a lot of unresolved 6's (not naming names, but it was totally me). Killing her outright might not be justified, but we can make moves for Ron to kill Kenan and do anything possible to save Natria.
