You'd have to concoct something with Mini here. You can easily make your own spells, so if you want straight damage you can always work to that effect, but combat isn't all about damage. If you had the Clock focus, you could easily slow an opponent in time, haste someone else, or just prevent an enemy from moving an inch. The Dragon might let you drive someone to recklessness if that wouldn't be considered subtlety, intimidate people, or just break things. You could probably drive someone nuts with a Mask focus.

You could do whatever you could think of, as long as it wasn't opposed for you, but it's easier to do what you're aligned with. Just use your imagination.

If straight damage was what you're after, there are plenty of better classes for that anyway.

On another note - if you want to hook in with another player, you can always message them and ask. I've already done so with Amaranth, our fire golem, and I'd be happy to do it with other people too.

I looked the mage over and I do like the casting better, but is there anything in it that makes it useful in combat other than 1d4 base damage? With a wizard there's at least magic missile, but what can a mage do?

The Black Magic move deals 1d8 damage, plus a few options. Advanced moves exist to boost that.

How on earth did I forget about that? Ah well. My point about other options still stands. If you don't want constant damage, Counterspell may not always be applicable, but it lets you deal with opposing casters.

I somehow missed that too. I think that I might actually change to mage. Thank you for pointing out the playbook.

Mage or wizard is just fine.

So sorry I spaced on this! I don't think I'll be able to play after all. Work has gotten quite busy. Thank you for thinking of me.

Hey, is there still room for yours truly? I've been looking for something new and bite-sized, and Dungeon World looks awesome.

If you think you can keep up, then I don't think there's a problem. Just don't pick a class that's already in use. The Druid, the Artificer, and seemingly the Star Mage dropped out, so don't worry about those. Pick a class, run it by Mini if it's not a base class, a Grim World class, or an Inverse World class, and put something together. Pretty sure we have the room.

should be fine.

The pace is rapid right now, it will slow down.

In general if there is combat going on I slow the pace to one action resolution post per day, unless everyone has posted.

Let me know what you wanna play

Bikke the Dwarf Fighter:
"Aye, it be true wha' tha lubbers say of me ax. Cut off a hunnerd bloaker heads! Til me cap'n kicked me arse off tha crew fer tellin' too many tales..."

Body: built
Eyes: eager
Hair: washed in sea water
Skin: tanned

Str 15, Dex 9, Con 16, Int 12, Wis 8, Cha 13

Race When you share a drink with someone, you may parley with them using CON instead of CHA

Signature Weapon: Sinister Axe (close, +2 piercing, 2 weight)
(Do I have this from start? I bet the guards took it.)

Bend Bars, Lift Gates When you use pure strength to destroy an inanimate obstacle, roll+STR. On a 10+, choose 3. On a 7-9 choose 2.

Armored You ignore the clumsy tag on any armor you wear.

That will work. I'm thinking you are probably not a slave since we are a bit in. I'll chat with you in private message

While we're at it: you have an extra option on your axe. Looks like you only picked the Sharp enhancement, so that means you have another.

"Aye, ye hav' a sharp gazer fer a lass. Bikke missed tha word 'two'. No tha first time it's happened, made a fun event in that tavern o' Demon's Buttocks where a board said, 'three drinks fer a price o' two' or somefing."

(I'll take serrated edges for a +1 damage, thanks.)

No problem. I'll point out anything else that's wrong or missing, like with Himnon. I can just tell it's going to be fun having you around.

Also, yet another person with a negative WIS! This is over half of us! NOBODY has a positive WIS!

(Thanks. And hey, gotta put that dump stat somewhere. Bikke struck more more of a funny idiot kind of guy than an attuned scar-face, otherwise I would have switched Wis and Cha.)

Oh, no, it's not a problem. I'm just wondering how on earth this happened.

Funny idiots are more...well, fun, anyway.

I tried to count/look for a "Closed" post, but I would be interested in this, if there is still room :)

I believe the cap was 8, and I think we're on 7 with Bikke. By all means, Mr Hyde, there's no problem with creating something just in case.

wait, are you in that campaign?

Nope! I wish. I just like to follow various DW campaigns. Look about, you might notice signs of my passing here or there. I hang about on here way too much, let alone with RSS keeping me updated.

Oh, yeah, I stated above about classes if you need to know. As long as you obey all the appropriate creation rules for the campaign, you'll be fine as far as that goes.

Can't see the harm in making something for fun. If you can use it, even better!

okay. wait, are you the one who isn't in my other campaign, but occasionally favorites a post? because if so, suddenly a few things make more sense.

Also, I'm interested in the Mechanic, if you will let me have made up the suit while a slave (ala tony stark in the first iron man movie), or the Lantern if not. Either way i get to play a class I've wanted to for a while!

Yuuuup. No idea if that's bad form, but I thought it'd be appreciated.

At this point, you may not even be a slave. Depends how Mini decides to handle you. Gotta say, I like the look of the Lantern too. Was tempted to choose that. I was debating Dabbler-ing a move or two from there, but I wouldn't want to step on your toes if you went that way.

Mechanic looks fun too. We have a Golem, so I wonder how you'll interact? Just know there's no competition if you decide you wanna be a Cloudwalker.

"Tch. No way that pile of scrap metal could outfly one of the Skyfolk. Clumsy thing couldn't outmanoeuvre a tree."

Let's be real here. If you're building it in the Slave Pits, it WILL be scrap metal.

mechanic...let me read up on it real quick.

but go ahead and build something up, and you may or may not be a slave at this point

as long as you can flavor it to fit in with a world of spells and swords...its ok

I like the Mech, but I think I'm going to go with the Lantern. is there an established god(dess) of light in this setting?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

There will be once you decide who it is!

Ysolde is a saint in the service of Alphine, the Lady of Sun, and Antares is My direct conduit to her will.

I am planning on playing her as a gentle character, primarily interested in soothing the hurt, and guiding the lost. what would be a good way for me to enter the campaign?

I'll send you a pm and we will figure that out!

Would you have room and inclination for a witch? I have the PDF that I could send.

On a glance it seems alright.

buildnit up and we will get you in

Here's Shyness for review, and hopefully, an introduction soon.
