Sora Crescent |
"I'm not too worried about weapons right now. These BODIES, however, miiiight want hiding! Ummm, think. Once we've gotten what we can, can we stick these things with under the rocks? Maybe they won't find them. Or maybe they'll just think they died in the cave-in. Think that'll work?" She makes ready to drag one over, just in case. She's just about ready to take off at the moment.
MiniGM |
2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 5) + 1 = 7 Reno
Reno manages to dig up some filthy cloth and leather armor from the dead goblins that will serve as a stinky, smelly, foul set of armor
1 armor 1 Load
He also finds a pouch of some kind of red liquid in a vial, it fizzes slightly and smells like strawberry
2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5) + 1 = 12 Elena
Elena digs out a drag bucket, which is a bucket with a 10 foot chain attached. Load 2, she also finds a small box filled with her tools on one of the goblins, what they were planning to do with that she can only wonder, and finally curled up next to the bucket she finds a spiked chain, it seems to shine and gleam, not letting dirt attach to it. Precise 2 handed
Nathan Croft |
"Oo- oo, Elena, that chain- yeah, that one with the bucket. For the shield? No, that one's too heavy. Just the one with the bucket. You can trade it to the ex-uard-gay. I'll bet he's all about shields. I heard he's got a mysterious liquid~"
Sora Crescent |
"Funny way to say diplomat, Nathan..." Sora's just grumbling to herself again as Nathan speaks. Her eye seems to be on the spiked chain that Elena uncovered.
Elena's not gonna get any good use out of the spiked chain, at least as far as fighting with it. That's a -1 for her to use, since it uses DEX instead of STR. As much as I would want the chain, and Sora would want a weapon that meant she had a little distance, Nox could probably use it better. If he took the chain and I took his stick, that would be an upgrade both ways. I'm assuming that thing would be reach? Maybe 2 load?
Sora Crescent |
Sorry I keep bothering you about this. I hope I'm not getting on anyone's nerves. I suppose it's easy to forget about, but it's hard to use things without their tags.
Amaranth of the Flame |

I am absolutely 100% sure that Precise means you can choose DEX or STR, so that's absolutely fine then. (Edit: And then I google and find that that's true for DnD with Finesse weapons, but not true for DW, probably just an oversight if you ask me, but alright then...)
Sora Crescent |
Sod. I went looking after you said that, and found this.
Precise: It rewards careful strikes. You use DEX to hack and slash with this weapon, not STR.
I suppose your interpretation was just too convenient. If our GM wants to handle it that way it's fine, but sometimes that wouldn't make sense. Harder swings do not equate to proper control.
Edit: Sod as in "Damn, that's not the case" not "You sod."
Edit 2: Dammit, ninja edit.
Reno Jackson |
Nathan is just wincing to himself as he pulls on the dirty cloth and leather armor. Now's no time to be squeamish about dirt and filth...ugh, it looked like the previous owner of this undershirt used his sleeve as a tissue too many times. Goblin snot. Lovely...
Shaking himself free of his sense of disgust, Reno approaches Nathan, blushing a little. "I prefer diplomat, yes. And I would use this shield, but I have nothing to trade...unless you want this armor I just put on."
After he and Nathan reach a deal, he turns to Sora. "I think you have the right idea," he says. "If more guards come and discover what we've done, the Whipmaster will torture us all to death. Come on, let's use this map we found on the dwarf and get out of here!" he points at it.
Sora Crescent |
Never say "These are your choices." Offer suggestions, sure, but never say or imply these are the bounds of capability. By virtue of an apparent challenge we'll find another way, and suddenly we'll need a replacement moon after we're done.
Reno. For all the horrible things they'd suffered down here, with map in hand he seemed just as spirited as he used to be. Though she was determined not to ask about the blush. No matter what the reason was, she wasn't sure whether she'd be comfortable with knowing.
She shakes her head clear. "Actually, yeah, it WOULD be better to get moving. We have a little too much on us now to pass off. Which way do we wanna go? Do we check out Nathan's unfounded claims of a way out in the Whipmaster's place, or slip through...the...killing pits..." The way the colour drains from her face at the thought speaks volumes about her preferences, even as she currently stands frozen in place and pale as a ghost, unable to state them as horrific scenarios come to mind.
Nathan Croft |
Nathan raises an eyebrow, as well as his nose as he takes a half-step back from Reno's armor. Evidently, the thin sheen of sweat and his shameless posture continue to make up for Nathan's lack of social graces for some. "No, uh, thanks. I'm sure you'll make better use of it than I would. Just, ah, keep out front and try not to die." He hands the shield over with a tip of his hat.
When the consensus of the room tips toward leaving, Nathan returns what's left of his rope to his belt. He may have time later to splice the ends. Then, he hops back onto the support beams and begins to head toward the whipmaster with his knife in his teeth.
Let me know if part of the way is blocked by somone either watching the ceiling, or any place where the ceiling is too low to hide effectively.
Kara the Silvertongue |
loot: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 1) + 1 = 5
Kara joins the others in searching the bodies, but she keeps re-adjusting her rapidly shrinking bodice too much to concentrate on the task at hand. "With the bodies, we could, Idunno, put them over near the rocks, an' make it look like an accident?
Unless anyone has any special talents they've been keeping under wraps? Like, um, I guess if someone could eat them all? Or animate them? Ugh, no, animating dead bodies would just be icky. Don't do that."
She sticks out her tongue at such a distasteful idea.
Sora Crescent |
As far as I know, Wayfarer (the handaxe) is the only one anyone actually has in hand. That would be held by Nox. If nobody else (and by that I mean Nox) wants the magic spiked chain, then I am sooo nabbing that thing.
Reno Jackson |
Reno also makes sure to grab the tunnel hammer, holding it in a grip that favors the strength of his left hand over his right, and strapping the shield to his back for later.
"Well, now I'm armed and armored...pfeh..." he scoffs a little as he looks down at himself. He didn't normally like to think of himself as vain, but looking as shabby as he did right now didn't sit right with him. The memory of being at the elevated position of Drazhu's diplomat still sat fresh in his mind.
Sora Crescent |
"Dammit Nathan! Can you not just wait a damn moment? Ughhh. Let's go after him." Sora carefully coils the chain around an arm, and takes wing up to the support beams, gliding after him from beam to beam. That pervert wasn't screwing things up for everyone that didn't resort to flirting their problems away. Flirting was NOT the word that belonged there, but she did not need the reminder.
MiniGM |
The motley crew moves up toward the whipmasters lair, immediately upon entering the well built stone room, with lanterns lit all around. Inside are three orcs, who seem to be wearing some armor some of you recognize...and the whipmaster who stands with his whip, and wearing leather armor covered in spikes and studs
What are you doing meat? Now is not the time. Get back to your task masters. He orders, though his grin suggests that he is hoping you don't listen
Sora Crescent |
Oh god, not him. Of course he's out here. Just our luck. But...is there nobody else here? I have a baaaad feeling about this.
Sora starts glancing about the room rapidly. Her senses always picked up at times like these.
Invoking this:
When you spend a moment surveying an area, ask the GM two of the following questions. The GM must answer truthfully.
• Where's my best way in, out, or through?
• Is there a trap or ambush here, and if so, where?
• What here is the biggest threat to me?
• What can I see that no one else can?
So - Is there a trap or ambush here, and if so, where? What can I see that no one else can?
And while I'm at it, what does the Whipmaster look like?
MiniGM |
No trap, other than they are already armed and armored.
You can see that there are some deep cracks running down the center of the floor, and that two of the orcs is hiding something behind his back
The whipmaster is an incredibly buff orc, he is missing an eye, and the one he has almost glows with a red fire...not really...but you all have started to think that it does, , he has one broken tusk, and as far as orcs go...he is really ugly
MiniGM |
so where are you trying to get to? Sorry. I don't understand. The glow that was there before the quake is gone, and that said you could never see where it was coming from. Are you trying to make a portal to somewhere in the room with the whipmaster, in the room we started in, or something else completely?
Sora Crescent |
Pretty sure he's using Fold Space, and just writing in something different. If he still wants to go to where the glow was, he's going to have a fun time getting line of sight through the cave-in.
Edit: Ninja'd. By two people.
MiniGM |
Nox creates a portal as the others leave into the whipmasters room that lets him cross the rubble into the Killing pit room
He(?) steps out of the portal onto a slippery ledge. All around the room are thick webs, there is a dark forbidding in the room, the smell of death is everywhere.
What do you do?
Sora Crescent |
Man, we've already split the party. Nathan and me headed for the Whipmaster on the beams. Nathan wanted to know if at any point the ceiling was too low to be above everyone's field of view, or if anyone was watching the ceiling, along the lines of No One Looks Up. Basically, if he would be seen up there while he was moving for whatever reason. And now we have Nox going for the Killing Pits. That leaves Reno, Kara, and Elena headed in an undetermined direction, with Amaranth yet to be introduced.
If me and Nathan are the only one's headed to the Whipmaster, then things may stand to be different there. If we're high enough, they won't even have seen us. Otherwise, Nathan probably stopped us before we could be seen.
Amaranth of the Flame |
Amaranth turns in surprise as the Whipmaster adresses the group. She tries to figure out what's going on, and is cautious in any movements, though the whirling flames remain to roar.
Discern Realities: 2d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 5) - 1 = 8
Hoping for a What Happened here recently? if I do get more I'd like to know What here is not what it appears to be? and What should I be on the lookout for?
I am going to avoid conflict between these parties, as it would result in a conflict in my current directives. For now consider me to have 'a Bond' with the Whipmaster, so he may order me to kill.
Sora Crescent |
I was under the impression there were support beams up high that we were hopping between. If that's not the case, that's fine.
Also, Amaranth? I know some of the others haven't done it, but can you list the bonds you DO have in your profile? Considering how important it is to your class, it's worth you doing it at least.
Nathan Croft |
Are the orcs watching the ceiling? Is the tunnel ceiling super low? Is this going to be a stealthable encounter?
If he gets a chance, Nathan will try to stay out of sight and work his way as close to a target as possible without being spotted. where is that, and what obstacle(s) lie between Nathan and kidnapping these targets 1 by 1 for my party to murder?
Sora Crescent |
Of course. Ah well. This can be worked with.
He was going to do something crazy again. She knew. She had to at least do damage control. She starts whispering, trying to look like she was talking to herself. "Nathan, before you move - the ground's cracked really badly, and those two orcs are hiding something. If it seems like the facts are at all related, you really need to take them down. We do not want covering in rocks. And if not, can you take out the Whipmaster first? Please? If you can get rid of him, I bet Am- the fire girl won't be so helpful to them. Trust me."
Sora knew she wouldn't be able to take them in an out and out fight. There were more of them, and they'd happily increase their numbers. Nathan needed a distraction. It seemed like it was up to her to provide it. "Nathan, you better be grateful for this."
She took a deep breath, and tried to look as flustered and panicky as possible. The more vulnerable she looked, the more afraid she acted, the better. "There's something back there! There was a huge glow, we couldn't see, then the tunnels collapsed. Everyone else is gone! I can't find them! I can't hear them! Now what do we do?!"
She didn't know what was worst about this. That she was helping Nathan, that she was forced to act like this, or the possibility that they might try and take advantage of her and she might have to deal with it. All she could hope was that she pulled their attention and that NATHAN DID HIS JOB FOR ONCE. Maybe Ammy would help? Hopefully?
