Helane's spell nearly kills another. Between Nemrok's castigation and the damage they're taking, they flee.

"FREAKS!" they shout as they go. The corpse left behind has some coin and a potion of CLW, but otherwise nothing of note.

J. is visibly shaken after, and takes a few moments to collect herself. “Ummm I guess I should tell you, considering who you are and where we are going. I’ve been keeping him a secret for far too long in any case.”

She looks at each of you individually,= before speaking again “Grishan, can you come out, please. These people would like to meet you.”

A green-tinted apparition that resembles an emaciated 14-year-old boy with sunken cheeks and hollow eyes literally steps out of J. He is "wearing" a school uniform consisting of a blouse covered by a vest. His legs end just below the knees, trailing off into nothingness and he floats above the ground. He introduces himself, "Hi. My name is Grishan. I want to start by thanking you for saving J all those years ago. Like J. I was trapped in the necropolis, and I stayed with her, even after I died. When she sleeps I can't come out, which is why I didn't meet you then."

This Grishan speaks in a calm voice that sounds as if it is traveling from some distance away.

Knowledge Arcana DC 15:

J is a rare type of person known as a spiritualist. Grisham is a phantom with whom she has a symbiotic relationship. This means she can cast magic with only the power of her mind and will. Apparently though, she doesn't know this.

He continues, "I admit that it was I who has been pushing J. to sneak out of her home to visit the Precipice Quarter. Through our personal link, I simply *know* that there is something in the Drownyard that J. needs to see or experience in order to understand both herself and her powers. I also admit that I have my own reasons for wanting to go to the Precipice Quarter... You see my brother asked me to spy on his friends and their families. I hid a collected packet of intelligence that I gathered in a place called the Arboretum Arcanis, and I never got the chance to place it in the secret dead drop."

The phantom lowers his head a bit."Please, PLEASE take us to the Arboretum and allow me to accomplish, my short life’s greatest unfulfilled mission."

J. adds, "For me?"

She appraises the green boy and nods her head as she considers what they've told her.

"Well, we were headed there anyway, I don't see why this changes anything. Grisham, what family are you from that you were tasked with spying on the others? It's been almost twenty years, do you expect this information to still be relevant?"

The past years changed Peter a lot. Now he is a silent man, who just watch and listen, its tongue is no longer as sharp as before, the smile on his face disappeared, now he is just a cold blooded warrior.

The vision o J. filled him with some hope, the age catched him, but his heart still beat, even for a while.

And in the same way that has remained since he arrived, he remained silent when he cut off the head of that miscreant who dared threaten his protected.

Peter was preparing to hit the phantom with its falchion, when his buddies starts to talk to it.

"Talk. Fast.", the ranger whispers...

Sorry for my vanishment, guys. Now I'm back to kill play!

The Arboretum Arcanis was once a haven of exotic trees, bushes, and flowers from all over Golarion. The enigmatic wizard Beldrin built the Arboretum in ages past, covering it with a crystal dome that let through light while keeping everything inside safe. Inside the dome, each greenhouse had its own magical temperature and moisture controls, and was watered by artificial clouds that rained only at night. The earthquake of 4698 AR cracked the crystal dome...

Knowledge (History) or (Local) DC 14:

These days, the artificial clouds crackle with soundless, purple lightning and emit a slow drizzle of acidic water from time to time.

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 18:
This liquid eventually corrupts all living things it touches, but the corruption takes days to take hold.

Standing in front of the building, Grisham has a flash of memory "It's in here. I know it."

"Let's just keep it to Grisham. I was a student too. Maybe he was just training me for ... I don't know."

J looks in, "This place doesn't look very inviting..."

Indeed, when you step inside, it looks even worse. The foyer of the Arboretum Arcanis is in shambles. Debris and dead or dying plant matter cover the mosaic-tiled floor. A gnarled black thorn tree still clings to life in a giant masonry planter. Two massive skylights in the ceiling afford a view of low-hanging, purple and black clouds above; the crystal dome is completely obscured. Piles of rubble obscure most of what once may have been doorways, but a door to the west is free from debris.

As you take in the scene, one of the roots separates from the large plant. It looks like a short, gnarled, gnome-like figure with a beard of green mold, an oversized, misshapen and bulbous head, and long, branched fingers. On his back he has numerous small sack-like growths about the size of a child’s fist.

Knowledge (Nature) DC 15:

It's a mandragora, an evil plant creature capable of screaming loud enough to make you vomit. Ask an additional question for every 5 you beat the DC.

"Greatings" it says in perfect Taldane, "Welcome to what's left of the Arboretum. I am Majordomo Pip. If you wish to explore, you first pay a small fee for the privilege of visiting the garden. You must each grant me a small portion of your blood... for ongoing research. In exchange, Pip promise to lead you to the Master Gardener, who will undoubtedly be able to help you with all of your reasons for being here, whatever they may be."

He looks on expectantly.

"If I wait on the men to open the door I'll be waiting here all day!" Helane says to J. with a smile as she opens the door to the next room.

Helane opens the door.

A collapsed sign near the door lists the exhibit that was on display in this gallery at the time of the earthquake: “Flowering Shrubs of Eastern Taldor”. Plants once grew in the large, ceramic planters that still hug the southern wall. Dozens of branches clinging to decaying leaves emerge from the wooden door to the north. To the east, a room with healthy trees and shrubs is visible through a glass door set in a wrought iron frame.

"Hmmm. I don't suppose any of you folks have any experience identifying plants. Those potted things look interesting, but nuggets if I can tell one herb from another."

Renn, too preoccupied with espousing the finer points of the Society and the Sovereign Court to J, glances to the healthy looking trees for the briefest of moments.

"Yes, a bunch of plants seem to be doing well after all this time, it's not really..."

Renn stops for a moment.

Wait? Is that typical?

Nemrok responds to Silgil My knowledge of plants is very limited to the one found in gardens.
May be Lady Helane has a though on this ? But when something seems healthy when everything else seem not is generaly not a good sign.

The species are not uncommon around Taldor. There isn't any hint as to what keeps them fresh here.

Peter confirms that there's nothing on either door.

East.

Dozens of healthy plants with vibrant and colorful leaves, fruit, and flowers emerge from the decay in this small greenhouse, spilling out of the pots and berths that once contained them. The plants look truly wonderful. As if on cue, the Majordomo appears through some roots, "These plants have remained unsullied, well some of them. Allow me to point some out. Those two walnuts will harden your skin for a short time. The mature leaf on that ivy will let you climb the walls. Those two cherries will shrink you to halfling size, and two watermelons will do the opposite, but only on the first bite. Don't eat the rest. They're corrupted."

Following Peter's orders, Seiran goes. lol
Once in and hearing the majordomo,
"Walnuts hardens skin, cherries shrink and watermelons enlarge?" Seiran asks amused at the implications of what the majordomo is saying.
"So we can take them?"
