Hamilton Renaud |
Surprise Round: Hamilton holds until just after the smoke and flame from the fireball then he moves into the room and takes a forward position next to Ushyle.
Delay until after Raen, then step and attack
Flaming Scimitar +1:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage on Hit:1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (4) = 7
Dungeon Master S |
Hamilton slides in front of Whistle Pig and lets the dire wolf have it.
The wolves react quickly, trying to take down the party's front line:
Blue versus Ushyle: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for DMG: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 and it tries to trip him: CMB: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14, but can't get the half-orc down.
Red versus Hamilton: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 but gets only armor.

Ushyle charges Red!
Using previous roll, to his is 22 (20 plus 2 for charge), then the bodyguard should still be flatfooted, so 31 damage.
Dungeon Master S |
Ushyle rushes in, but the bodyguard is ready. Her combat trained reflexes kick in and she swings for the half-orc, "Your blood is THIN!" AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 for DMG: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) + 5 = 13. Her ability to dodge most of the attack is uncanny.

A trio of Varisians slips into the room behind Hamilton. Tucked against the wall and her back against stone, Raen grasps her rod of lesser extend and also begins to weave a complex spell...
Begin full-round cast using standard action.
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham steps forward and slashes out at the wolf
Flaming Scimitar +1:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
But it's clumsy and easily dodged by the creature.
Dungeon Master S |
Hamilton's swing lacks its usual skill, and Raen's words spill forth, preparing to level the playing field.
The wolf chomps down on Hamilton's thigh, ATK: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21, but an't find purchase.
The bodyguard to the ranger's right immediately closes distance and tries to bring her greataxe down on Ushyle ATK: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 for DMG: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) + 5 = 15 the half-orc's blood sprays everywhere from the hit. The other guard laughs at the turn of events and forgoes the easy hit in order to drag Ushyle sideways Reposition: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20. She then squeezes herself between him and the wall.
Grenseldek gives a disgusting bellow laugh as she closes in too. Her handaxe turns just a bit, knowing just where to strike something with human blood: ATK: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 16 - 2 = 30 for DMG: 1d8 + 9 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 - 2 = 12 her sobbing seems to get in the way of her attacks.

Damage: 2d6 + 5 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 5 + 2 + (4) = 14
Vael Oakfist |
Vael completes his casting. His call is to the spirit of Earth, who grants him 1d3 ⇒ 3 elemental guardians.
The shaman points at the respective foes, and the earth elementals begin to slam at the enemies with their stone fists.
EE (Blue) Attack on Giant (Red): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Damage on Giant (Red): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Seeing the punishment Ushyle has received from the giants, Vael calls upon the Heavens to leap the half-orc to safety. With a swirl of starlight, Ushyle reappears behind him.
TL;DR - Finish SNA III, 3 earth elementals attack, then Heaven's Leap on Ushyle
Dungeon Master S |
Whistle Pig lands a sling bullet with a loud crack! The shot nearly knocks the giant orc down, but it fights on despite the blood pouring from its forehead.
Doxon goes for broke, knowing that Ushyle's life is in the balance. Both body guards swing at the dwarf:
Red AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Black AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Truly Torag is with Doxon! The dwarf's swing is powerful and it should be a fatal blow, but the giant fights on to the very end.
Vael's aid pounds their fists uselessly, but he does get Ushyle out in the nick of time... for now.

Hamilton: Go
Raen: Go

Doxon: TBD
Whistle Pig: Hit
Grenseldek: 20

Black: 20
Yellow: 20
Raen Varkath |
Raen's complex weave concludes just moments after Vael's -- bringing forth a rockier, bulkier elemental than the trio the dwarf summoned, and studded with amethyst gemstones. The Varisian gasps audibly as her attention is drawn to Ushyle's body slumping against the floor, but in a moment it's gone.
No matter. She's seen Vael's trick enough times to know that Ushyle is in safe hands. Her focus returns to the melee in front, and she gravels out a command to her charge.
The spiky, rumbling shape smashes into the grievously wounded half-giant to its left.
Slam @ Red Guard: 1d20 + 8 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 1 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 3 + 1 = 13
Raen herself tries to finish off the wolf with sheer arcane force and slides further along the wall.
Magic Missile @ Yellow Wolf: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) + 3 = 12
Elemental: AC 17, HP 17/17.
Dungeon Master S |
Raen's magic solidifies into additional allies as a massive battle rages in the Fort.
The first elemental breaks the neck of the giant orc. Her body slumps motionlessly to the floor. Her death sets into motion new wails of agony and anguish from the others, far beyond the norm for such foul creatures. Raen's other spell slams into the wolf, and despite its force, is not enough to fell it.

Dungeon Master S |
Hamilton locks eyes with Grenseldek. The flame of his scimitar reflects in his determined eyes. Without breaking contact the blade slashes. With a heavy thud, and a lifeless thump, the wolf's head and body falls, one by one.
The giant's wails intensify, and the sound turns the ranger's mouth ever so subtly upward, into a grim smile.

Ushyle sputters and drools heartblood. The rivulets pool run down his muscles and pool on the floor. The blood begins to twist and swirl. It dries and soaks into his body. In a singular moment, discrete and surreal, the blood tattoos itself into his flesh. Ushyle's sword arm becomes decorated in bloody rose blossoms. The metamorphisis doesn't stop with his skin. Gorum's Thorn also changes. The anvil becoming a pistol, the iconic hilt becoming petals. The trappings of the Lord in Iron vanish, and are remade with those of The Everbloom.
The remaining guard grits through the tears and swings her axe at Hamilton ATK: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9, but the ranger continues to have none of it.
Grenseldek, wrought with her own melancholy, continues to fight. she hacks at the elementals blocking her way. Twice she swings at the one bearing flecks of amethyst

His request granted, positive energy flows through the shaman and into Ushyle. The air briefly smells of barley. Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5) + 5 = 12
He watches his patient nervously, hoping that his magic was enough.
Doxon Greyforge |
Doxon lets out a mighty bellow as his muscles grow and expand, his armor flexing under the new girth.

Doxon, wading through the battle he was made to win, breaks the neck of the second bodyguard. He wastes no time, vaulting off her falling body and ramming the pick into Grenseldek's eye. The half-orc's eyes open, and he squints as the fuzzy shapes begin to turn familiar. He can still hear the melodic words in his ears — in his head — when he blacked out.
As he tries to move, Gorum's Thorn swings in front of him and he notes with surprise the change to the pommel, the sword, and the arm that holds the blade as he struggles to his feet. How...
He knows the answer, but cannot wrap his mind around it. And there is little time to ponder it while Grenseldek still stands. He grips the blade, still astonishingly comfortable his hands, and moves behind the halfling, looking for an opening.
Raen Varkath |
Raen can't suppress a brief surge of elation when the pick's point pops the princess's pupil. The giant refuses to fall, however, and the relieved moment soon fades. She watches Hamilton raise his sword, ready for the next blow, and succumbs again to trepidation...
Wait! A sudden memory floods back to her. A paper in her hands, filled with terrible power. She drops her pack and digs frantically through it, shoving cooking implements and potions aside until her fingers close on the sought scrap of parchment.
She lifts it and turns to face the giantess chieftain. Concentrating hard, she weaves from the scroll's instructions.
Caster Level DC 8: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 SUCCESS
A vast, looming shadow instantly springs from her being and lunges at Grenseldek. Raen does not know the terror's true form, but she imagines that it looks something like this mysterious Storm Tyrant, come to take more than just a hand.
DC 16 Will save please.
Dungeon Master S |
Ushyle regrips Milani's Thorn and returns to the battle!
Raen's spell weaves a deadly magic Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 "Foolish magic is NOTHING! I was prepared for the Tyrant himself!"
The giantess skips over the obvious target in Doxon, and opts for the human ranger:

He sidesteps the swing that was meant for his head, and points the flaming blade at Grendelsek.
