Dungeon Master S |
Miss: 1d100 ⇒ 34
Whistle Pig takes aim in the edge of the fog and lets fly. It's hard to see, but easy to hear. The stone cracks the ogre in the skull!

Ogres: Not much
Whistle Pig: Hit

Longbow +11d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage on Hit:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Blue: 15 Blind

Vael Oakfist |
With an ogre still in his cloud...
Fort save for Blue: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Fail. It is nauseated, and will remain so 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 rounds after leaving the cloud.
Vael moves forward and quickly calls upon the spirits of heaven to displace him. Move forward 10ft, then Heaven's Leap 30ft
Dungeon Master S |
Ushyle moves out, the blinded ogre unable to capitalize on the change. Indeed, it's only "attack" is to violently vomit on the half-orc.
Vael moves as only he can!
Round 3
Vael: Ta-da!
Ushyle: Blech
Doxon: Go
Raen: Go
Ogres: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Hamilton: TBD
Blue: 15 (Nauseated, Blind)
Red: 7 (Nauseated)
Doxon Greyforge |
Doxon readies to attack Blue if it should happen to stumble into his reach.
Raen Varkath |
"Can you see anything on the other side?" Raen asks quietly of the halfling. "An odor most foul, indeed." From her pocket she fetches a thin beechwood wand, which she flicks in the direction of the nearest ogre. An enormous sponge of roiling fire springs into existence at the giant-runt's feet.
Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) = 15 DC 13 Reflex negates
Please fail. That's such good damage, it would be so disappointing if it makes the save.
Dungeon Master S |
Doxon raises his Hammer high as Raen casts a quick spell REF: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6. The flaming sphere strikes the ogre clean in the chest, knocking him down and out!
Vael watches as the ogre starts making his way towards the main courtyard. The dwarf intuitively knows that if he makes it, all hell's going to break lose...
Round 3
Vael: Ta-da!
Ushyle: Blech
Doxon: Readied
Raen: FS
Ogres: Move
Whistle Pig: Go
Hamilton: Go
Red: 7 (Nauseated)
Whistle Pig |
WP seeing a large figure moving away from the fight and takes aim at it.

damage: 1d6 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
miss chance (high you die): 1d100 ⇒ 85
Vael Oakfist |
When the ogre passes too close to Vael, he tries to make it pay.
Attack w/Longspear: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Dungeon Master S |
Whistle Pig's hard launched stone misses by the thinnest of margins while Vael stabs the ogre with a spear, just not hard enough to drop him.
Round 3
Vael: Ta-da!
Ushyle: Blech
Doxon: Readied
Raen: FS
Ogres: Move
Whistle Pig: Miss
Hamilton: Go
Red: 12 (Nauseated)

Longbow +1:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage on Hit:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Ugh that damage.
Dungeon Master S |
Ham only nicks the ogre, who is mere feet from getting out in the open!
Round 4
Vael: Go
Ushyle: Go
Doxon: Go
Raen: Go
Ogres: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Hamilton: TBD
Red: 14 (Nauseated)
Vael Oakfist |
"Oh no ye don't," Vael mutters. He touches his wooden holy symbol with one hand, makes a spinning gesture with the other, and whispers a low chant. A moment later a starknife made of force energy appears.
The spiritually-guided weapon lashes out at the fleeing ogre.
Attack w/Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Dungeon Master S |
With a well placed spell, Vael deals a telling blow to the ogre's back, but still the stubborn monster stands!
Round 4
Vael: SW
Ushyle: Go
Doxon: Go
Raen: Go
Ogres: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Hamilton: TBD
Red: 21 (Nauseated)
Raen Varkath |
Raen stands on her tip-toes and leans in front of the halfling, looking for more giant shapes beyond the fog. Spotting one, she flicks the wand again and another orb of flame appears between its lumbering legs. "Gotcha!"
Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) = 12, DC 13 negates
Fingers crossed.
Straining her mind, she mentally pushes the first orb forward, careful to avoid the squatter shape visible near the ogre.
Dungeon Master S |
REF: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Raen bounces the spell over to the ogre, burning him with a final guttural cry from the target.
The ogre falls, but the situation is tense as the stealthy assault is in danger of losing its advantage.
What now heroes?
For killing the quartet of ogres, each party member receives 535 XP.
Raen Varkath |
Raen hurriedly urges her fiery charges back towards her, where they soon dissolve into nothing.
"That was close."
Dungeon Master S |
Ham doesn't specifically know, but Tulia did say that one of the rooms beyond those double doors is a room they all avoid.
Based on the stench coming from the doors, it's full of rotting food and/or ogre latrine.
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham looks around to his companions. He quickly rushes back to fetch his scimitar, then forward to the double doors.
Quick! Let's move ahead!
Let's open those doors.
Post-Slack discussion EDIT: Ham motions for everyone to follow him. If there are no objections or slackers, he'll wave everyone inside the double doors, then bellow.
In Orcish: TORAG FOR THE ORC! DEATH TO ALL MONGREL GIANTS!
When everyone is inside, he'll close the doors and hold his nose. If there's time, Ham will quickly fire another black fletched orc arrow into the nearest ogre corpse.
Vael Oakfist |
Vael bangs his weapons together and stomps his feet as loudly as he can, adding as much realistic sound as he can to Hamilton's words. He then retreats into the next area.
Whistle Pig |
WP sees the last ogre fall, WP stows his slingstaff and draws his short sword. As he walks to the double doors, the halfling disfigures the wasted sacks of flesh as an orc would do in battle. A slash here, as slash there. If he was bigger, he'd put the corpses into suggestive poses of hot ogre on ogre action, but he knows time does not permit it. He does not linger but he is the last on through the doors before Ham, closes it.
Raen Varkath |
Raen groans and is the last to follow. Leaving the doors open a crack, she conjures the images of four orcs standing around an ogre corpse, poling it impolitely with sticks. She shapes their armor, their tribal tattoos, their war paint, their mid-day boots, and waits.
Dungeon Master S |
The party does their best to cover their tracks, and no alarm sounds as they bust through the doors.
The scent isn't as bad as Vael's spell, but close. Piles of cracked bones, discarded hides, rotten meat, and other refuse are heaped along the walls, filling the air with an overwhelming stench. To the southeast, a narrow staircase ascends in the corner of the room.
Map updated.
Vael Oakfist |
Vael positions himself in the centre of the room and keeps his giant spear at the ready. "I dinna like this place, and nae just because of tha smell."
Dungeon Master S |
Ham opens the door after not finding any reason not to. Inside is a latrine that actually smells better, like it hasn't been used in a long while. Considering the room is too small for ogres, it likely hasn't.
Hamilton Renaud |
Agreed. Something is wrong here. Can't put my finger on it.
Ham moves to the double doors and checks it out.
Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
If there's nothing wrong, Ham will quietly text the door to see if it opens.
Whistle Pig |
WP has been is worse places and doesn't notice the smell.
He heads to the double doors south of him. Checks it for traps and if clear opens the door once he gets the nod from Ham and the Half Orc.
trap?: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Dungeon Master S |
With a quiet creek, Ham opens the door. A giant table spans the entirety of this long room. A headless, fire-blackened horse torso, eviscerated from throat to navel, lies atop the table. The hollow carcass is stuffed with an even more macabre offering of charred humanoid arms, complete with crisp and curled fingers reaching in vain for salvation.
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham looks back and forth between the two rooms.
Dinner. Then this room is the garbage pile.
He quietly closes the door, and stands side by side with Whistle Pig, ready to move south.
Dungeon Master S |
Opting to leave this room alone, the party heads to the southern door where:
Whistle Pig: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Hamilton: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
both men hear what sounds like an executioner's axe falling repeatedly on a neck...
Dungeon Master S |
Carcasses of various humanoids and animals lie in haphazard piles in this room. Alternating between eating his own fingers and chopping human and horse corpses with a massive cleaver, a fat hill giant works. It appears that he doesn't know you're there despite your lack of stealth!
Map updated. Entire party has surprise, so I'll roll it. If you don't attack, ignore the roll.
Enemy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Raen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Hamilton Renaud |
Ham steps in, pulling his scimitar on the move, and before the Giant can act, he steps in and slices at it's back.
Surprise... Activate Flaming Scimitar
Round 1
Flaming Scimitar +1:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage on Hit:1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (2) = 6
Whistle Pig |
The sight of "The Butcher" throws the Halfling godsmacked for a moment. All he can think of he the hill giant's voice from that day in the mountains "where did you go Lunch? I smell you... I know you are here somewhere."
WP snaps back to reality but with a crazed look in his eyes with a voice that sounds more like a cornered dog than a halfling, "We will not be lunch!!" and launches into action.
Surprise round:
attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
damage: 1d6 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
1st round:
attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
damage: 1d6 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Vael Oakfist |
SURPRISE:
Vael moves in behind Hamilton, now able to reach the giant with his spear.
ROUND 1:
Vael stabs at the creature with his spear.
Attack w/Spear: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
He then steps back 5ft to stay out of it's reach.
Ushyle |
Ushyle furrows his brow at the sight. This needs to be fast and quiet, he thinks to himself. Aloud, he barks, Anyone have a silence spell? while he takes in the full measure of the giant humanoid. Studied target in surprise round.
In a flash he darts to the far side of the giant, Gorum's Thorn in hand!
Power Attack/Furious Focus, studied target, flat-footed: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 1 = 19
Gorum's Thorn, Power Attack, studied target, flat-footed: 2d6 + 12 + 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 12 + (3, 3, 2) = 26
Dungeon Master S |
Despite his speed and fire, Hamilton catches the butcher on his cleaver, which accidentally protects the giant. Whistle Pig opens with a bullet that breaks the giant's nose! Ushyle's swing catches him on the otherside, and DEEP. Blood oozes freely, but the more observant of you note that there are crimson rose petals in the blood.
Even Vael gets in on the action with a spear to the hough!
Whistle Pig follows it up with ANOTHER crack in the nose. The giant's bloody, gnawed hand comes up to stem the flow to no avail.
Surprise Round:
Raen: Go
Doxon: Go
Round 1:
Ushlye: Hit
Hamilton: Miss
Whistle Pig: Hit
Raen: Go
Doxon: Go
Vael: Hit
Giant: TBD
Butcher: 68
Doxon Greyforge |
Seeing the horror of the giant cook, Doxon calls on Torag's Blessing. Agrimmosh begins glowing a vibrant yellow-gold. He then rushes in next to Ham and swings Agrimmosh into the foe.
Agrimmosh: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 5 + (2) = 12
Raen Varkath |
Raen cautiously peers around the corner and nearly disgorges the contents of her stomach on the spot. She immediately shuts her eyes, and while that doesn't help the smell or the noise, she is able to escape momentarily to the mountains.
Returning, she finds a stony servant waiting patiently where she'd intended it. She commands it to join her fellow Trunauans in ending this profanity.
Slam @ Butcher: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 3 = 15
If the giant survives:
The only clean way is fire. Raen flicks the wand again, bringing the rebirth of true flame to the macabre kitchen.
Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13, DC 13 Reflex negates
Surprise: 5 foot and begin cast, Round I: finish cast, standard action to wand. Elemental: AC 17, HP 17/17.
Dungeon Master S |
With magic and power, Raen's elemental slams the giant. REF: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10 and in a moment the fires consume the beast.
Doxon rushes in just in time to hit a dying giant...
For killing the butcher, each party member gains 535 XP.
Raen Varkath |
"We are burning this place to the ground when we are done," Raen says quietly. She tries not to look at the giant's fingers.
She manages a weak nod to the elemental before it returns home.
Dungeon Master S |
That's weird, even for a hill giant.
Raen Varkath |
Know Local: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Raen keeps the thought tucked in her mind, and tries not to pay it any attention.
But it calls attention to itself anyway. Steeling herself against the sight, the Varisian calls on her magic to see the strings. Detect Magic on giant/area.
Whistle Pig |
know local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
"I told you we wouldn't be lunch you dung filled piece of trash!" WP says as he kicked the corpse in the head. Regaining his composure,"let's see if the piece of filth has anything useful on it."
take 10 on the corpse and the room:perception: 10 + 11 = 21
