Vael moves forward, hefting the magical longspear as he advances.

Vael prepares with his new weapon and starts to close with the birds.

Their trials of the last few days has forged a mighty kinship for the others in Doxon's heart. After getting a moment to reflect on his new brothers and sister as Skreed was turned over to Kurst, Doxon realized he was free to be himself amongst them.

Seeing Hamilton go on the offensive, a wide smile spreads across Doxon's face. Battle is where legends are made. He hefts up his crossbow and readies to fire.

The group is momentarily puzzled as they hear a strange high pitched noise start coming from Doxon. Even the strange birds take a moment to consider this new warbling.

Doxon's battle yodel starts in full as he looses a bolt at the closest creature.

Bolt at Black: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9

Ushyle does not hesitate when he sees the creatures; he immediately places himself between them and his companions, taking care to ensure the reckless Hamilton has a clear avenue forward.

Double move, greataxe in hand.

Doxon's unique approach serves him well. The gryph is nearly killed with a single bolt! Unfortunately, it's only nearly killed. Ushyle closes in!

Raen follows, a grim sadness in her eye. "Regrets, denizen," she mutters quietly. A pair of white fires fly for the gryphs.

Magic Missile (Injured Gryph): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Magic Missile (Hale Gryph): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

WP thinks, "birds, hmm? this will be a lot like my hunting trips before all this started."

WP moves forward and tries a shot at the red bird from considerable range.

bullet-2 for range: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 2 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

WP smiles at the bullet rainbows to the target. A few greasy feather fly off the bird as the stone hits.

Whistle Pig's bullet connects, and of course Vaen's two missiles do, though the net result is one gryph on death's door and the other severely injured.

Both birds, panicking, fly right at the closest target, Ushyle. They bit with razor sharp beaks:

WP moves up beside Raen and let's another bullet fly at the red bird again. " these are a bitten tougher than the average game fowl

Another solid hit! more feathers hit the floor.

Whistle Pig whispers "Catch" as he hurls a stone towards the gryph, breaking its neck with a satisfying CRACK!

Assuming the bird is still alive after Ushyle's turn...

Ham drops his bow and yells a barbaric yawp as he races forward and pulls his sword from scabbard, and swinging the blade down and across from high right with both hands.

How convenient of them to come to us! the half-orc quips, studying the beast a moment before swinging his axe.

Ushyle's axe is more than enough to cut the strange avian down!

Ham cracks a grin and holds a fist out to Ushyle.

After the bonding moment, Ham retrieves his bow and sunrod and resumes his scouting, delving into the chamber.

Hamilton moves forward. As he gets deeper into the chamber he misses a string of web, the level of his neck Raise your hand to the level of your eye!. It catches his sunrod and the ranger in its grip.

Vael and Whistle Pig both shout as they catch a quartet of spiders, each the size of a halfling, making their way down to the man.

The spiders lower themselves from the ceiling, and hit the ground ready to make a meal out of the ranger.

Oh this is going to hurt...

Whistle Pig cracks a shell with his sling stone. The spider wavers, but does not fall. The halfling is confident he can kill it with one more hit like that though.

Ushyle's eyes narrow, studying Teal closely as he prepares to swing his axe.

In a flash, Vael pulls Hamilton out of immediate danger. The spiders, sensing plenty of food converge on the front line. Ushyle, Hamilton, and Whistle Pig all find fangs in their faces! NEvertheless, the spiders are foiled by armor and reflexes

Ham steps back to protect the group, drawing his blade and shield. He moves to cut down the spider threatening Whistlepig as he does.

With a host of potentially poisonous creatures converging on his friends, Vael focuses on the Spirits of Fortune, and funnels that energy into Ushyle.

Still a little disoriented, Hamilton swings and misses. Vael gives Ushyle some luck in his next swing.

Doxon hustles around the melee to flank one of the spiders with Ham. (AoO from Blue)

Then Doxon looks to baptise Agrimmosh in some spider blood.

WP targets the closest spider.

and misses horribly.

The spider tries to bite Doxon AoO: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15, but hits only armor. In return he smashes the spider into a wet mass of ochor and chitine. A sling bullet hits the ground close by kicking up dust and dirt.

Raen sees that the fight is well in hand and summons a layer of slipperiness to add to the vermin's frustration.

Raen's reliable Grease spell bubbles and oozes beneath the arachnids.

The spider directly in front of Ushyle flips to expose its underside while the other keeps its balance.

Ushyle studies Red, trying to take advantage of Raen's gift.

If that drops Red, he will five foot step due north. If not, he will stay put.

Ushyle's axe comes down on the upturned spider, splitting it in twain!

The two remaining spiders know nothing of discretion and valor, only that food is before them. The don't need to move, so they bite the closest:

Doxon sidesteps and brings down the hammer and pick on Black.

Hamilton makes a quick slash, cutting off a few legs and a pair of eyes just as Doxon joins in. The dwarf misses by a hair with the Hammer of Unmaking, but his trusty pick connects, puncturing a solid hole in the spider. The insect shudders, but doesn't fall.

WP looks over the scene in front of him. He is pleased with the improvement of the group. They are handling themselves well.
With a determined smile, the halfling launches a bullet at the closest spider.

Whistle Pig makes sure the spider won't try to bit anyone else, and cracks it's shell with a hit that does enough to put it down.

Little by little, the half-orc is learning that taking an extra moment to learn about your foe can be advantageous. Milani is trying to teach me patience. I wonder how long that will take...

Ushyle's swing isn't his greatest, but it catches just enough of the injured, and immature giant spider, to kill it!

For clearing out the rest of the vermin in the Tomb of Uskroth, each character earns 135 XP.
