Dungeon Master S |
Raen digs deep!
Grey: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Teal: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
The orc with the double axe drops to the ground, unconscious. The other shields his eyes.
Blue: Tries yet again to break free, while bleeding out STR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6, and still cannot.
Teal moves forward and swings his Falchion at Raen ATK: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12, but the Varisian is too quick!
Purple: Finally out of the vines, the healthiest orc manages a swing with his Falchion at Hamilton: ATK: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 scoring a hit for DMG: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 = 9
Round 7
Vael: Bleed out
Hamilton: Arrow
Orcs: TBD
Ushyle: Dying
Whistle Pig: Go
Doxon: Stable

Whistle Pig |
WP sees two targets and two friends in trouble. He makes a split second decision and goes to Raen's foe. WP places a bullet in the cup of his sling. Extends his right and does a shot quick underhand circle as he releases the knot with this left hand. The bullet is away with a <CRACK!>
bullet to Teal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
The bullet is true and strikes the Orc on his left cheek bone.
damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

ROUND 8
Ham takes the blow, grits his teeth, and ripostes...
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage on Hit: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Vs. Our Purple Friend.
Ham looks over at Applejack and gives the command to...
Kill
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Applejack, still new to the relationship, just stares at Hamilton and calmly eats grass whilst orcs cut up his party.
Vael Oakfist |
Stabilize: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Although nobody can tell without looking, his wound has stopped bleeding... for now.
Raen Varkath |
Raen holds up her pointless crossbow in a defensive fashion, reaching furtively to her belt with left hand for a potion.
Standard Action: Total Defense. Move Action: Draw a potion (provokes). AC 20.
Dungeon Master S |
Raen tries desperately to get a potion out, but the orc harrying her dies, so she does so without worry.
Hamilton straight up kills the orc closing with him. All that remain are the dying and the unconscious. It is a simple matter to finish them both.
And, after the longest hardest fight of their lives, the heroes catch their breath and tend to their wounds.
For surviving an attack on all sides by a dozen orcs, each member of the party receives 300 XP.
Dungeon Master S |
Survivors surround you as you tend to your wounds. Most mourn for the dead. Some reach out to give thanks. Others scrounge for weapons with which to take revenge.
You barely notice as rewards are thrust into your hands. At your feet people have laid some potions held for an emergency:
Additionally, some of the orc's gear is of exceptional quality:
Raen Varkath |
Raen dives immediately for Ushyle with the potion, who is in a vast pool of blood.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
She then turns her attention to Vael, working quickly to find his wand and poke him with it.
UMD DC 20, Mod is +5: 1d20 ⇒ 20 damn
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Dungeon Master S |
I'll give you guys time to heal yourselves up, divvy treasure, USE treasure, and then we can advance to the tower, where the orcish war drum sounds...
Vael Oakfist |
Where we start...
Ushlye: -9/22
Doxon: -3/19
Vael: 2/17
Whistle Pig: 11/11
Hamilton: 13/22
Raen 10/19
Once revived, Vael looks around. Bewildered for a moment, he realizes the fight is over... for the moment. Seeing the Varisian woman above him, he says, "Thank ye. Too close, that."
He takes the wand, then takes the potions from the townsfolk. Immediately he puts their potions to use.
CLW potion on Ushyle: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW potion on Ushyle: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW potion on Ushyle: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
CLW potion on Doxon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Seeing that there's still a lot of healing to do, he starts expending charges from his wand.
Wand of CLW charge on Doxon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wand of CLW charge on Doxon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Wand of CLW charge on Doxon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wand of CLW charge on Ushlye: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Wand of CLW charge on Ushlye: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wand of CLW charge on Ushlye: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Wand of CLW charge on Vael: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
On the 7th usage, the wand becomes inert. "Drat."
He pulls out a vial with a red liquid in it from his backpack and drinks it. CLW potion on Vael: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Feeling a bit better, but knowing there's more combat to come, Vael turns to Raen and says, "Ye've got more potions. I'll be needin' one. Drink one yerself." He them administers to Hamilton.
CLW potion on Hamilton: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Where we end off...
Ushlye: 19/22
Doxon: 17/19
Vael: 16/17
Whistle Pig: 11/11
Hamilton: 20/22
Raen 10/19
Dungeon Master S |
Thank you for that. Otherwise that could have been all day looking at random posts here and there.
Vael Oakfist |
After tending to the wounds, Vael looks around. He sees many Trunauan people, weapons in hand, heading to fight. Others flee back to safety. For those nearby, Vael speaks. He paces back and forth as he says,"We've got a desperate fight on our hands, no doubt about it. But we've already shown that we're better than our enemies. And the people expect better."
"There are orc who bang their war drums, rallying them. They try to make us fearful. But we're not afraid. We're angry that they dare to invade our lands, our homes. So let's kick them out. What say you?" Vael punctuates his question by walking up to Hamilton and banging his warhammer against the militia man's shield, the loud sound ringing out harshly.
Vael is riled up and ready to go.
Ushyle |
The half-orc's eyes flutter open as he coughs up some of the tangy taste of the potion Raen just poured down his throat. Looking about, the battle appears over, and somehow the group emerged victorious.
With a slight groan, Ushyle sits up, waving off Raen's help with a more-gruff-than-it-should-be I'm fine. Thinking better of it, he turns back to the Varisian and manages a slight smile. Thank you, Raen, he says, softer in tone. I owe you.
He glances about, seeing his companions ministering to the other wounded and shakes his head. I am sorry, friends, that my strength failed you here. By Milani's grace, I have been given another chance to make this right. I beg forgiveness from you all.
He looks about for his greataxe, only to find it broken in the mud near the house where he fell. The shock lasts only a moment, before he grimly shakes it off and pulls out the well-made greataxe he found on the now-dead orc. Time to see how this one works, I suppose, he thinks to himself.
Dungeon Master S |
Vael's speech is countered by an increase in the intensity of the drum beat from the tower. It is ordinary music no longer, it is the raging song of an orcish skald!
The tower is about 25' across. It has a ground floor, a middle level and the roof. Upon the roof stands your most intense foe KAGAK OF THE ROLLING THUNDER!.
For the moment you can see a trio of orcs inside on the ground floor.
Doxon Greyforge |
Doxon sits up sputtering to see Vael standing over him. He takes a quick look around.
Looks like I missed the party. Then with a closer look, he can see the blood and exhaustion on his friends.
Hearing Ushyle's words, Doxon expresses his own contrition. I'm sorry too, lads. I misjudged the situation and shouldn't have rushed in on my own. I didn't doubt your expertise beforehand, and owing to the fact that I'm still alive and the orcs aren't, I can't help but consider myself in the company of some of the best. You all have my eternal gratitude and I'll do my best to prove I'm worthy to stand with you.
Whistle Pig |
Whistle Pig Sees the enemies collapse. He quickly assists Raen in tending to the wounded. He gives Vael a quick once over and gives him a heart felt smile. "I'm glad you made it back to us. We have free ale for life! I would hate to have to drink it alone"
He has the urge to poke a bit of fun at the two bigger fighters for falling down, but after seeing he looks on Doxon's and Ushyle's faces, he thinks better of it.
Dungeon Master S |
Ham doesn't recognize this orc by name, but his kind is known. His music can inspire a rage that dramatically increases his allies strength and bloodlust. He can likely cast spells akin to a bard as well.
I included the name, because it's bad ass.

Hamilton Renaud |
Hamilton points to the top of the tower.
We need top silence that. That drummer's tempo is fueling the Orc's fervor and strength. It's a form of magical enhancement. Likely, he's also a spell caster. Enchantment and Enhancement magicks, like some of the bardic colleges teach. Or so I've heard. Never met one.
Raen Varkath |
"Think nothing of it," Raen pants to Ushyle. Blood and mud have ruined her clothes to a splotchy, riddled brown. Once the fallen have been returned to consciousness, Raen slumps back in the mud, temporarily exhausted. Then the pain returns in her side, and her hand comes away from its cautious assessment slick with warm blood. She fumbles around for a potion and swallows it with a grimace.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
She notes a second potion and considers it, but puts it away. "Let's not do that again," she mutters, getting to her feet and looking up at the captured tower. She nods to Hamilton. "Silence will be a sweet sound indeed."
Whistle Pig |
While everyone is healing, WP goes about the task of ending the life of any unconscious/non-dead orcs. He takes a moment to inspect the tattoos and clan symbols each one has. He wants to make sure he can recognize the clan again. IF anyone asks him what he's doing, his response "I don't want these fools hurting anyone again."
Raen Varkath |
Raen doesn't question it.
"I'm ready when you are," she says. "That drum isn't going to shut up on its own."
Dungeon Master S |
Tactical map is a bit crowded at the moment, but this is easier that updating links for a custom one. Assume it's open around the tower. Place yourselves by the door, and then someone do something heroic!
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham positions himself by the door with the Potion of Shield of Faith.
Get in position, he says, drinking the potion and drawing steel. I'm going in.
As soon as pogs are placed, It's Ham-Er Time! OMG I THINK I FOUND A NEW CATCHPHRASE!!!
Dungeon Master S |
Hamilton kicks in the door with strength bolstered by the anger from the last battle. The door slams into the wall behind it, cracking a bit with the force. The orcs are caught off guard this time!

He replies to the orc's attack with another chop of his own.

dmg: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
His mind awash with images and memories, his vision has blurred a bit — the attack fails to connect. The half-orc staggers back a five-foot step, trying to clear his head.
Whistle Pig |
Whistle Pig sees the orc drop and disappear behind Ham and another orc.
He curse and thinks to himself, "that was an open shot!" He takes a quick step to get a better view of what is in the room. He thinks to himself, "this would be easier if the door were wider..." He sighs and again curses the cover and lets a bullet fly at the orc in front of Ham.
