Takahiro: Current
Ascalar: Mirror Image: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Baddies: Move and attack
Aeris: Shoot
Baldwyn: Go!
Zannah: Miss
Takkit: Go!
Hiro: Go! and AoO
1 Round
Lightning: 28
Ascalar:
Hiro Yanyeeku |
Hiro forgoes the attack of opportunity since his weapons are not ready. Instead he brings to bear his arcane abilities, calling for his natural elemental forces, "氷のような火災、真で目指します。霜の光線が行う必要があります。"
As his incantation ends, a blue glow encompasses his hand for but a moment before the icy blue beam shoots out from his pointing finger.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 2 = 22
Damage: 1d3 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
"Just peckin' on the surface! He says noting how ineffective his attack was.
Takkit Shinrou |
Takkit five foot steps into the room, and fires an arrow charged with his arcane power.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Baldwyn Doucas |
Baldwyn moves in, likely taking a smack as he closes. If it has 15 ft reach, which seems likely, it gets an AoO as I close to 10. He swings with force, trying to give it somethin' to focus on.
Vital Strike + Power Attack!: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
1d12 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
Sure hope this adamantine don't conduct a shock well...
Dungeon Master S |
Hiro's attack doesn't seem to faze the elemental at all! Takkit's does a little bit more, but not much. The elemental lashes out at Baldwyn AoO: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 for DMG: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4) + 5 = 13 and Elec: 1d8 ⇒ 2. Unfortunately, it causes Baldwyn's swing to go just a touch wide.
Round 2
Takahiro: Current
Ascalar: TBD
Baddies: TBD
Aeris: TBD
Baldwyn: TBD
Zannah: TBD
Takkit: TBD
Hiro: TBD
1 Round
Lightning: 28
Ascalar:
Dungeon Master S |
Takahiro gives himself some succor and Blesses the party. Meanwhile Ascalar panics and drops a fireball in the room! The spell hits Takahiro and Baldwyn. It's accompanied by a plainly sarcastic, "Oops, did I hit you guys?" REF DC 18 for half of Fire: 7d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 3, 2, 6, 6) = 30 REF: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26. Still, it does harm the elemental.
Meanwhile the machine's panel ticks and tocks. A random bolt of Lightning strikes out Random: 1d8 ⇒ 3 at the lightning elemental Elec: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5) = 13. , which seems to heal rather than harm it. Simultaneously the elemental bursts a pair of slams forward:
Baldwyn: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 MISS
Takahiro: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 Slam: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 5) + 5 = 14 Elec: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Round 2
1 Takahiro: Heal and Bless
2 Ascalar: Fireball!
3 Baddies: Slam
4 Aeris: Go
5 Baldwyn: Go
6 Zannah: Go
7 Takkit: Go
8 Hiro: Go
1d4 ⇒ 2
Lightning: 30
Ascalar:
Aeris Calistrel |
Aeris looses another volley of deadly arrows at the lightning creature, then gives Ascalar a fierce look and says, "You could be next, if you zap any of us again."
Longbow, Rapid Shot, Manyshot, PBS, Deadly Aim, Bless, Divine Favor: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 + 3 = 21
Longbow damage, Divine Favor: 1d8 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 3 = 12
Longbow damage, Divine Favor: 1d8 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 3 = 16
Longbow, PBS, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Bless, Divine Favor: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 1 + 3 = 25
Longbow damage, Divine Favor: 1d8 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 3 = 16
Takahiro |
26/59HP
Saved for half. DR stops the elec damage
Reflex 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Fair warning, Takahiro will be breaking combat to kill Ascalar, not sure why we left him fully armed and equipped at the back of the party. Not taking his spell component pouch at the very least seems to have been a bad call.
Hiro Yanyeeku |
You will of course have to deal with all of his images again. I believe he cast Mirror Image on round 1.
Hiro looks at the big ball of electricity again and shrugs. He then turns his gaze to the altar and the codex, perhaps there is something he can do here. "I wonder if completing the ritual will get rid of that ball of lightning."
He examines the codex and observes the machine's ticks and tocks looking for something that might explain why so much energy is being released; operating the switches and levers he tries to maintain a sense of control. Over the din and confusion he shouts at Ascalar, "You may have just sealed your coffin, friend! I recommend taking better aim if you choose to unleash any further destruction!"
Not sure if there is anything I can really do to control the machine. I'd like to stop the random lighting bolts and possibly dissipate some of the charge in the air.
Dungeon Master S |
Aeris launches a trio of arrows that drive deep into the heart of the elemental. Clearly they are still doing damage. The erstwhile "ally" simply laughs at Aeris's retort. Hiro takes a crack at the ritual DD: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30. It's as complicated a set up as he's ever seen, but he's confident that he's stopped the lightning arcs! It looks like the machine is already sliding back to it's old configuration, but the kitsuni is confident this fight will be over by then, for good or ill.
Round 2
1 Takahiro: Heal and Bless
2 Ascalar: Fireball!
3 Baddies: Slam
4 Aeris: Arrows of death
5 Baldwyn: Go
6 Zannah: Go
7 Takkit: Go
8 Hiro: Disable the lightning
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Lightning: 59
Ascalar: (5 targets)
Zannah |
Zannah will try to throw some more acid arrows: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 ranged touch and if it hits does
2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 acid damage for this round and 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 acid damage for next.
Dungeon Master S |
Zannah's arrow hits....barely. The acid sizzles and crackles within the storm. The elemental is clearly weakening.
Round 2
1 Takahiro: Heal and Bless
2 Ascalar: Fireball!
3 Baddies: Slam
4 Aeris: Arrows of death
5 Baldwyn: Go
6 Zannah: Acid Arrow
7 Takkit: Go
8 Hiro: Disable the lightning
Alter: 6 Rounds
Lightning: 63
Ascalar: (5 targets)
Takkit Shinrou |
Takkit fires another arrow at the elemental while yipping at Ascalar.
I think you've sealed your fate, friend!
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Dungeon Master S |
Sadly Takkit's arrow doesn't have the punch necessary to hurt the elemental.
Baldwyn to finish the round!
Still possible to finish before Gen Con, but I'd rather have fun than rush you guys. Just giving you a heads up that I'm gone before sunrise Wednesday until the following Monday afternoon.
Baldwyn Doucas |
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 15 damage
Baldwyn makes it a point to count that as a hostile act by that bastard. We save his gorram life and he still shoots us in the back?
Still, he strikes the elemental.
Hammer! +PA: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 12 + 1 = 29
1d12 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Iterative: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12
1d12 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
Dungeon Master S |
Baldwyn's anger at Ascalar is channeled into a massive strike against the elemental. In a poof of ozone, the thing is obliterated. Hiro can see the knobs and gears whirling at the elemental's demise, and you think the ritual to realign the tapestry is well underway. You'd be able to finish it... were it not for the traitor.
Baldwyn, you can take a move action as the first attack killed it.
Takahiro starts round 3, then Ascalar the enemy.
Alter: 6 Rounds
Ascalar: (5 targets)
Takkit Shinrou |
Takkit sheathes his bow, and turns to face Ascalar, his daggers sliding into his hands
Now you've done it... We spared you, and you attacked us?
The kitsune almost sounds mournful over what's about to happen.
Dungeon Master S |
The sorcerer simply snears and adds, "Pathfinder scum! Better to die in here and take you with me!"
Takkit Shinrou |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Takahiro, you make me happy.
Dungeon Master S |
His sneer only widens as he slides away from Takahiro slightly. He locks eyes with the man, turning away only for a split second to cast another spell and drop a fireball on everyone else. Everyone (not Takahiro) make a reflex DC 18 for half of Fireball: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 5, 6, 3, 3) = 33
Good guys are up!
Takahiro: Moved
Ascalar: Fireball again!
Aeris: Go
Baldwyn: Go
Zannah: Go
Takkit: Go
Hiro: Go
Baldwyn Doucas |
Hold up!
AoO for casting!: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
1d12 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25
Come on, finding the right image!
Reflex if the spell is not disrupted: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
35/84 HP
Baldwyn focuses on laying out the blighter as his beard singes away. "It took my two days to grow this thing!"
Trip!: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31
AoO if successful: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage: 1d12 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Iterative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 +4 if he got knocked prone!
Damage: 1d12 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Dungeon Master S |
5 is real: 1d5 ⇒ 5 Baldwyn hits! Concentration: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 and Ascalar loses the spell! NO FIREBALL! The polearm master continues to show his skill 5 is real: 1d5 ⇒ 3, and destroys an image. 4 is real: 1d4 ⇒ 3 and destroys another image!
Copies (including real) 3
Ascalar: 25
Takkit Shinrou |
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Takkit nimbly dodges all of the mage's damage, and lunges forward, slashing with his dagger.
You should've just came back with us!
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Sneak Attack: 4d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 8, 3) = 18
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
Since Baldwyn threatens with reach, I'm flanking from here, right?
Dungeon Master S |
No,reflex save needed. Baldwyn hit the real one. Yes, you're flanking. 3 is real: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Dungeon Master S |
No,reflex save needed. Baldwyn hit the real one. Yes, you're flanking. 3 is real: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Takkit scores a direct hit! The wizard drops from the wound!
Out of initiative.

with the sorcerer down, there is naught to do except what the Society sent you here to do, realign the Tapestry. Someone make a single d20 roll. Add 1 for anyone who can cast spells. Add 3 for the crushed statue. You get ONE shot at this. First person to post is the official roll, but anyone with any legal re-rolls available can and should use them here. ..

Takahiro |
GM I hope I interpreted this correctly!
Spellcasters:
Takahiro +1
Zana +1
Hiro +1
Aeris +1
Bal (No)
Tak(No)
Crush +3
Roll 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 4 = 20
/Have a 3 star re-roll if required.
Takkit Shinrou |
Nope, Takkit can cast light. Bam!
Dungeon Master S |
Aeris was already counted as +1. Ummm.... Someone use their stars...
Dungeon Master S |
BOOM!
With teamwork and grit the team, so trusted by Society Leadership proves they are worthy of that trust with a resounding success. The Pathfinder Society can now use the Hao Jin Tapestry to freely travel between Absalom and Varisia and can create additional entry and exit points throughout the Material Plane.
With the ritual completed, you can return to the Lantern Lodge through the entrance portals. Before you are even congratulated for a job well done, Aram Zey and Amara Li send a contingent of well-armed Pathfinders into the tapestry to secure the shrine and guard it from future Aspis Consortium harassment. You are heralded as heroes for providing the Society with safe method of traveling between Absalom and Varisia, and for changing the tapestry’s very nature to the extent that Aram Zey and other members of the Spells branch of the Pathfinder Society can create new entry and exit points between the Hao Jin Tapestry and points throughout the Material Plane, allowing for near limitless potential for quickly traveling the world to conduct Pathfinder business. Your resounding success truly increases your fame and clout within Skyreach.
Well done everyone! I'll have everything wrapped up today. Feel free to post your day job rolls. I trust everyone to fill in the results. Chronicle links will be sent by PM later.

Takahiro, go ahead and use that reroll. I think we need it.
Hiro continues to monitor the machine.
Takahiro |
Takahiro farewells his new friends, wondering when destiny and fate will draw them back together again.
Finding a good place to set up, he returns to his tatami mat and returns to playing the flute - relaxing tunes and melodies from Tian temples - and preaching the peaceful ways of Shizuru. A small copper bowl is left out for alms.
Aeris Calistrel |
Yes, posted over in discussion thread a bit ago that Aeris is on slow track.
Aeris is very pleased that they've managed to figure out the mechanism - and deal with the treachery of the Aspis agent in their midst. "One day, perhaps, I'll venture into the tapestry without ugly surprises," he muses, "but today is not that day."
Great playing with you all!
Baldwyn Doucas |
Replace Day Job with Treasure Map boon, marking off second square.
Baldwyn spends the rest of the time in the Tapestry, as well as a good amount of time after the mission, grumbling and muttering about those "ruttin' casters" and the "corruptin' magicks" and how he promises to never touch a spellbook or somatic components. Nope, just a wand and potions for him.
