And now deep thoughts by Roakar: If Hestram was ahead of us wouldn't this sphinx be dead? It seems to not care about good vs bad, just Decemverate vs not. So it probably wouldn't have let Hestram by without the same actions we face now. Maybe he sneaked by but I find it hard to believe that the decemverate would have a guardian that was bypassed by invisibility or a dim door. BAH! Confusion!

Just as an addition to my previous thought: I don't think there is a damn thing we can do about it. Adril freed the prisoners so we know he is here. I guess we have to follow through and find Shemis. It's the only way we can guarantee Shemis's safety.

"Let's move on.."

MAP TEMPLATES | Social Combat | War for the Crown | Campaign Tracker |

The stairs are shrouded in some kind of strange darkness. Atop the stairs, the unnatural shadow disperses, emptying like a river of gray swirling fog into a tremendous, circular atrium. The fog collects along the perimeter of the room, hovering no more than a foot above the ground. The remainder of the floor is exposed. Its surface appears slick and glass-like. Light from below penetrates the translucent surface, giving off a faint, eerie glow. The walls, too, appear made of the same, glassy substance. They climb almost twenty feet, then curve inward into a shadowy metal dome. Pinholes of light twinkle on the surface of the dome ceiling, giving it the appearances of the night sky. A shifting array of scenes twist and dance across the surface of the murky windows, depicting scores of people and places in dozens of realms throughout Golarion.

The smoky gray floor is almost transparent, but no amount of looking through it provides any insight into what forms may be below. The walls, however, clearly display scenes of Pathfinders throughout Golarion, completing missions in Irrisen and the Mwangi Expanse, resting in Lodges from Magnimar to Goka, and some sitting amid stacks of books in the great libraries of the world. You see agents you know, Grimnir Foehammer, Roary Flamebearer, Saint Germaine, Soth-Loren, Angrid Luin, Devonalia Crystalwind, Korvan, and Darius Marel. One scene even depicts you, now, as you move about this very chamber.

A lone figure stands in the center of the floor staring into the walls. The face is covered with an ivory mask, featureless except for pale, pupil-less white orbs lined with jade where eyes should be. Its surface is inlaid with complex patterns of runes and upon its left cheek rest three, blood-red, crystalline tears. Dozens of silver rings pierce the perimeter of the mask, and it is hooded with a bristling mane of peacock feathers. The figure wears a gown of peacock feathers, porcupine quills and shimmering plates of scintillating opalescent abalone.

Roakar sees no immediate threat and so opens his big dumb mouth.

"So this is what it's like to be a God looking down on the world. Oh look there's me. Oh right...are you Shemis?"

MAP TEMPLATES | Social Combat | War for the Crown | Campaign Tracker |

Without moving her gaze from the wall she speaks, "“Well Adril, you have found me at last. I see you have once again manipulated the members of the Society into performing your dirty work. I congratulate you on your ingenuity. Well played. Now that you’re here, you may as well reveal yourself to your pawns."

After Roos speaks, Shemis falls silent. Seconds later, all the eraminho stones about your heads fade to a dull gray color and fall to the floor. Ether spills from the stones and within moments, materializes in the form of Adril Hestram... FOUR Adril Hestram's. One sports a toothy grin and speaks “And so it begins, Shemis… Endgame.” Adril offers no further information or explanation, but simply draws his massive earthbreaker and launches into battle, heading straight for Shemis.

And thus does Fate unwind, as it must...

Osric explodes into action shooting arrow after arrow. Only his opening barrage punctures the full plate. Still, the telltale flash of holy damage alerts the ranger to the certainty of what lurks in his target's heart. The damage is severe though, and Darius is confident in his ability to take the man down.

Darius has a similar experience, but as he expends his arcane power the blade cuts beyond the simple edge of the blade. The man drops to the ground in a pool of blood.

As he dies, he changes. He becomes grayish and seems almost unfinished, with a narrow head and a sinister, noseless face.

Roakar continues in his bloody conquest of all things Adril. Dragging bits of doppelganger, still attached to the spikes of his hammer, across the floors as he charges.

"I...Don't....like....being....USED!"

Roakar attacks Adril (red) first and will switch to black when red dies. Add 2 to hit on black for flanking.

They are magic, but do not overcome any other kind of DR.

Darius gives and takes. The one in front of him is grievously injured, but still fighting! Roakar turns on the man, connecting twice. His blows clearly hurt, but Adril takes the punishment in stride!

"You've been used your whole career Roakar! I will end that!"

Osric steps up and slows his pace a hair. He takes less rapid shots, hoping to gain more hits as he switches targets to red.

All of Osric's attacks fall short. Adril practically spits his retort. "You need practice BOY. "

Shemis seems ...shocked. "I did not see this." She does little else.

Roos, calling on years of practice and use finds an opening in Adril's armor. His rapier scores a telling blow! This time, Adril has no remark, just spray of frothy blood.

Black Adril moves to flack Darius and swings thrice:

Swing down: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Across: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Swing up: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

All missing! Instead of the easy flank, Red Adril takes to the air and flies up to get next to Shemis, his boots sporting miniature wings.

The quick swing at the flying Adril breaks a leg, but he will not be stopped so easily.

Roakar then turns his attention closer and plasters the man... another Doppleganger

Which means...

It's down to this.
