I lined us up at the hallway in approximately the order Diri proposed, only change I made was to put Zinkyudo last, with Valandil in front of him, since Val had asked not to go last. Zink has a 40' move speed, Point Blank Master and reasonably high Acrobatics, so he can get into position pretty easily and can actually be in melee with his bow (and threaten with unarmed strike), so I'm okay with being in back and hustling to get into the fight when it starts.
Sarsczek |
If someone wouldn't mind moving in to flank with me when possible that would be great since I have 2d6 sneak attack and potentially 3 attacks.
Sarsczek |
Hmm, I should see about getting a cheap polearm for Diri just to threaten with while staying out of AoO range. Also, Diri, since you are a Wis based caster, do you want to borrow the Crown of Swords for the remainder of the scenario? That way if you end up joining the frontline you can give things a reason to hit me instead of you.
Diri Lizzenbettolze |
If they're attacking me, that's good. I'm a pile of armor with a gnome tucked away somewhere (and can negate a bit of damage by healing it back). If enemies waste actions on me, we're winning.
I do my best to get close, but slow speed doesn't always allow the luxury.
Diri Lizzenbettolze |
Sorry Valandil: Couldn't find a space to channel that didn't without undoing some our progress. And if she does that again, it wouldn't matter if I did...
Valandil Anwamanë |
No issues. Taking out the fire-breather is a very efficient way to prevent damage.
Lets hope that wasn't the real Taska!
Diri Lizzenbettolze |
Yeah, I started typing that post before all of the archers went (and waffled a bit between channeling and fireballing); I certainly did not intend to kill her outright.
Zinkyudo |
Okay, DMS, things have confused me again:
I understood the ratfolk on the stage to be the false ratfolk, which is who I was targeting. It looks on the map like Diri's fireball roasted the person by the pillar, so my arrow at the one on the stage should still be valid. So the retcon confused me.
Sarsczek is on the map next to the enemy on the stage, even though he said he was attacking the one by the pillar, which has caused me further confusion.
Diri said she was targeting "Tseka" which I read to mean the faker, which should be the one on the stage - but the other one seems to have died. Unless her fireball was meant to get both of them, in which case a good portion of the party would be in it also.
So who's who and who's dead?
I'll hold off on my retcon until I understand what's going on.
EDIT: of course, that took me so long to write that my retcon has been voided, but I'm still unclear what happened.
EDIT 2: perhaps I've just misunderstood which pillar you meant, and the first one was on the stage and then moved off? Anyway, everyone else seems to get it, so let's roll with it. As long as our target isn't dead because I was confused.
Tametomo Buruzuai |
Yeah. On the stage was a disguised ratfolk who now is better known as "rosted tian girl on the floor".
The ratfolk hidden, at which you finally aimed because the other one was already dead, is the real Tseka and is now trying to escape our army of archers. And Sarsczek and his mighty claws and fangs.

Do any of you have a chronicle for Serpent's Rise that references MARNARIUS? You do not need it on this character, but if you played him in ANY game under your PFS number.

I do not.

Nope.

No :)
Valandil Anwamanë |
Harsh. You need the actual right Serpent's Rise character to get the benefit?
Sad face :-(
Sarsczek |
It's not a huge benefit. You get access to a unique piece of gear which represents the character in question. I actually got the one for Zurnzal, and while its cool, I'm not sure I'll actually use it anyways despite the boon falling on a pretty optimal character for it.
Dungeon Master S |
It is specific, but th egood news is, the player needs it, not the character, so at least the boon affects all of them.

Thanks a lot for GMing, this was a great scenario, great party, and great GM. I've definitely learned a few things that I'll want to do in my future PbP games that I'm GMing, and I hope to play with all of you again soon. Maybe even with a sleightly more serious character. I hope you all enjoyed Sarsczek!

I did enjoy Sarsczek. He certainly made his presence felt. I see he enjoys a taste for success.
And thanks for running the game Chris, much appreciated and very enjoyable.

I found Sarsczek quite entertaining, though I had to constantly check the spelling of his name.
See you all around - anyone going to PaizoCon? My son and I will be there for our fourth year in a row.
Sarsczek |
No PaizoCon for me, but if anyone is in the Los Angeles area that is going to Strategicon this weekend let me know!
Sarsczek's name has a bit of a story to it as well. The idea is that originally it was an animal sound (Pronounced like a long hissing Ssz punctuated in a hard 't' and chattering sound like t'chik) that eventually was made more palatable to the human tongue by the adventurers who found him (spelled Sarsczek, pronounced as Sarz-check) and eventually pronounced as easily as possible (sar-zek) as he became more and more accustomed to having to use a name. I had a ton of fun playing him in the Merchant's Wake, Blakros Matrimony, and Hellknight's Feast.
Every time I make a character they somehow end up being a skill-monkey a couple levels in... Sarsczek was originally supposed to be a big dumb fighter that played like a Bestiary entry, but roleplay led him to be a big fan of the Scarab Sages. His next level is going to be Living Monolith.

I mentally said "sars check" throughout.
No Paizo con for me. Someday. Gencon though!

No PaizoCon for me, either. I shall be at GenCon, Tier 1ing it up.
Tametomo Buruzuai |
No PaizoCon or GenCon for me. They're both too far away as I live in Switzerland. But if you guys want to travel in Europe this summer, you might want to give GardenCon a try! It's in Geneva and there are always some tables in English. :)

I don't think we have cons in New Zealand :-(
Well, we have one or two, but not anything like the rest of the world.
