Rholf Kastigarr |
Rholf is grimacing, squinting quite badly, and sighing somewhat raggedly from time to time... "I... Uh..." His voice falters momentarily. "My... head..." For the first time since the encounter with the haunt, the timbre of Rholf's voice changes, tinged with pain now, sweat beginning to bead on skin growing paler by the moment. "It may... be wise to... I may... not be..." He winces "much help."
Rholf Kastigarr |
Rholf momentarily falters, leaning almost completely against the wall, his hands shaking and sweat now dripping from his nose and chin. "My head..." His voice is strained and hollow. "It hurts sometimes... Never... this... bad... Everything is... out of focus..."
Castiel of Fangwood |
"I fear you may be under the influence of another haunt," says Castiel grimly. "Not so much as to take you over completely as the last one did I, but it is trying to attack your mind."
The paladin looks to Larissa. "Miss Brightfoot, if you would be so kind as to check the Father for signs of head injury as Lady Alinya suggests ... We should rule nothing out."
Larissa Brightfoot |
Looking concerned, Larissa helps Father Kastigarr to a seated position in a chair she retrieves if she's seen one in the last room or hall. "Of course!"
Heal 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Yeah, Heal is Larissa's primary skill. Sadly, that doesn't prevent me from rolling in the lower 25%.
Edwin Drood |
Sorry, still busy running back and forth. Haven't updated Edwin yet. (Time, and I've never actually played a bard before. Trying to figure out a spell list that's going to be useful in an undead-filled series is turning out to be quite a challenge. ;P
"Hm? Oh yes. Quite." Edwin replies nonchalantly to the whispered warnings.
"Would you be so kind as to put a little more oil here please? Thank you." He says, deftly passing the tip of his ghost touch arrowhead under the oil as it is poured on the winch.
"Ah. Excellent." he says with a small smirk, glancing at both the winch and the arrowhead.
He works a minor magic with a practiced wiggle of his fingers, and then begins cleaning off the winch parts with brief gusts of air and magic elbow grease.
Cast Prestidigitation. Using it to clean the mechanism, AND ready to use it to light the arrow before I fire it! :)

I put Rholf in the room in the corner;
Larissa knows what to do!
She touches some pressure points in Rholf's palm, then gives his temples a massage, and the gnarly pukey headache subsides......
EDWIN casts prestidigitation, and before you all know it,.......
the job of fixing the crank is done.
What now?.....what.......is your next move?.......
Castiel of Fangwood |
“Excellent work Miss Brightfoot!” exclaims Castiel, watching Rholf with his Iomedae granted second sight. “Your ministrations appear to have dispelled the darkness in Father Kastigarr’s mind. Indeed you have a healing touch.”
“Now ... let us prepare for danger. Who will stay in this room to work the winch while the rest of us prepare to enter ‘Nevermore’?”
Rholf Kastigarr |
Rholf's color returns, he stops sweating, and soon enough he stands up easily. It also appears that his dark mood has dissolved with the headache, as he says almost cheerily "My thanks, Miss Brightfoot. I feel much better." Hefting his shield and scimitar lightly, he asks "Shall we?"
Edwin Drood |
Nighty-night! (Indeed!)
"As loathe as I am to not be towards the front, and therefore miss the most essential clues before they are accidentally obliterated by our passage, I do feel that our encounters have proven that my, shall we say 'undead-smiting abilities' are better served from the rear of teh party. With my bow. I shall operate the winch, and assist as needed. If needed."
Lady Alinya Gurov |
"Oh! Give me just a few seconds, please. I have a scroll..." Alinya rummages through her belongings and produces a scroll, holding it up triumphantly. She adds, sotto voce, "Might help to tell us what we face."
Cast detect undead from scroll. Within 2 rounds it will show the number of undead auras in the area and the strength of the strongest undead aura present.
Larissa Brightfoot |

"The Ladies have granted me an ability like that, but I haven't used it here. It wouldn't help if we both used it, would it?" Detect Undead is one of the spells that Larissa has from her mystery.
dungeonmaster heathy |
Okay; in the winch room, no undead, and no evil.
second round, I need positions, and I don't need exact "cone coordinates" but just a general idea (ie compass direction) where you're pointing the detect spell to tell what you see undead/evil wise, I need who's on the winch, and when they pop it open.
Then,......more stuff will be revealed........perhaps........
Huzzah!
dungeonmaster heathy |
Sorry. At L19 as the portcullis is opened, facing straight forward (south) towards the opening portcullis to look and detect.
You sense evil; lingering in the room, and evil located behind the door at L28, not the door at J 28 but it lingers there though. Evil has "been" there at some time.
It's 1 evil aura behind the door in there, and an evil aura in the room with the pit. I think both are moderate.
dungeonmaster heathy |
I believe Edwin is working the winch and everyone else is by the portcullis waiting for action, if that helps.
Alinya detects the same thing; it's undead behind the door, and a "haunt" of some sort in the room with the pit.
I'll put people in the hall, and it's your go.
This is the end of round two of the spells.
dungeonmaster heathy |
“Can the winch be locked securely in place Edwin?” calls Castiel.
More quietly to his nearby companions he says, “Evil lies ahead,” nodding towards the chamber ahead in general and the door at J28.
"Uh, why,.....indubitably, my good stalwart," or something to that effect to let you know the answer is "yes," is what I surmise he will say.
dungeonmaster heathy |
Rholf and Castiel:
evil manifests!
You each see an "R" and a "C" (and no cola) appear, in blood, the R on the west wall, and the C on the east wall.
Roll a will save, d.c. 16.
if you fail,
