I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

allrighty,....check y'all later!

Human Wizard 6

Alinya replies to Castiel, "I don't remember reading anything about where particular prisoners were held. I think we will need to explore everywhere. Carefully. I expect the Marauder still carries his hammer in the unlife."

Larissa, I personally think spiritual weapon is a great combat spell. It keeps going while you do other stuff, uses your Wis bonus for attacks, and is a force effect so affects non-corporeal undead. Someone among us should probably have aid and protection from energy.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

"Let's start with the south - Nevermore. Where that noise came from," Castiel suggests.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

basement

There's a hall with a door on the east; the hall ends in a portcullis, and beyond this is a large chamber with many doors on the walls, and a massive pit in the middle.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Portcullis is closed? Any obvious opening mechanism?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Not in this hall.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

I positioned everybody; feel free to modify as you see fit.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

"Maybe there's something behind that door." The girl indicates the door in the east wall of the hallway.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

There's gotta be.....something.....

M Human Cleric / 6

Sorry for making the forthcoming assumption, but I haven't been able to devote a lot of time to reading threads over the last couple of weeks, and RE-reading them is pretty much impossible, so please correct me if I'm wrong in assuming that the doors in L & M 15 are open.

"Perhaps the mechanism is in there..." Rholf's voice, still seemingly lifeless, almost mechanical, echoes slightly as he indicates door to the group's left down the hall N 17.

Your assumption is correct; I usually kinda place the opened doors to the inside of the room but these seem to not make sense that way....I just drew a note with a greater than symbol for an arrow.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

huzzah!

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Castiel moves over to open the door at N17, keeping an eye and ear out for anything not right.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

That door's open too now;

nothing too gnarley. Table, chairs, playing cards.....guardroom.

There's a winch at the south wall.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Any cunning plans? ;)

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Heh heh ...

Castiel strides over to the winch and tests his arm against it.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

It's all jacked up. Doesn't work. All....rusty looking.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Larissa follows Castiel into the guardroom. Seeing him try the winch, she moves to the door to lean out to see if the portcullis rises. With no sign of success, she comes back to the paladin and looks at the winch. "I have some oil for my lamp. Do you think it would help?"

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Couldn't hurt...

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

The metagame fact that the GM didn’t ask for a strength check leads me to believe that: “It’s good and stuck,” says Castiel, “with years of accumulated rust. Oil may help, it depends how badly the rust has corroded the mechanism.”

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

back in an hour

Yeah; you can't strength the mechanism.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

"Maybe the portcullis is rusted, too. Maybe we can break it."

M Human Cleric / 6

"Heat." Rholf says flatly from the doorway. "Heat will break it loose, if this winch is the problem." With that, he heads down to the portcullis to inspect it.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Castiel walks over with Rholf to examine the portcullis.

“Is there anything the matter Father Kastigarr?” the paladin asks quietly. “You do not seem yourself ... I apologise for my rough treatment of you when the haunt in the torture chamber clouded my mind ... or for anything that I might have done or said to offend you while I was under its influence ...”

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Castiel is doing his best to figure out the cause of Rholf’s dark mood, whether it will cause problems with team cohesion and particularly if it might be the result of some malign influence upon the cleric.

M Human Cleric / 6

Rholf locks eyes with Castiel briefly, his expression somewhat withdrawn and guarded. "There is no apology necessary, good paladin," His voice still stuck in that Ben Stein-esque (though not nasally) monotone. "I am just glad that none of us have been seriously injured during this foray. As for my mood, I apologize. Be assured that I am fully here, and that it will not distract me from this most important task."

With that, he turns his attention back to the portcullis, searching it visually for possible problems.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Rholf:

Spoiler:
you feel......a migraine coming on. Stabbing pain.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Need some sort a skill rolls, to try and diagnose/fix the portcullis or the winch.

The portcullis itsself, though rusty, still looks serviceable as a barrier.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

basement

at this point, I need positions, or at least where you are either in the hall, the winch/guard room, or the big room with the stairway.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

DM Heathy:
At last report, Larissa was at the portcullis, say M19. Having determined that it's still serving its original purpose, she will head back to Castiel to report. Feel free to place her appropriately for the timing you have in mind.

None of my knowledge skills look pertinent. Where's that crazy siege engineer when you need him?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Aww, man.....

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

I'll be back in an hour;

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

hizzzzah

M Human Cleric / 6

Rholf reaches up to his forehead, rubbing his temples gently for a few seconds, squinting. Sighing as his hand drops away from his face, he continues to squint as he looks at the portcullis.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

M18.

"Perhaps there is a way around, through one of the other wings," the paladin suggests.

M Human Cleric / 6

Sorry... L 19 for me, please.

Sorry, been side-swiped by RL & work. Not required in that order.

Edwin taps his chin thoughtfully as he looks at the winch and portcullis.

"Yes. It has obviously seen no maintainance since the unfortunate events of the fall of the prison. Let's see,... standard design winch, run through double pulleys to take up less space for maximum lifting power,... The gate itself does not appear to be rusted into the wall. We may be able to lift the portcullis off the ground with a lever. IF we can locate a timber that is not rotten and of suitable length." The bard offers.

Human Wizard 6

Alinya is leveled up at last. She has learned consecrate which might help us set up a defensible position against undead, and sun metal which can enhance someone's weapon to do 1d4 fire damage. HP 1d8 ⇒ 6.

Alinya studies the winch mechanism, trying to remember the books on engineering and architecture from the Professor's library. She's in P16. Kn (Eng): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19. Kn (Dun): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

back in a little bit; need to help with the homework....sometimes it's hard to get to all the posts in my queue.

Spoiler:
the door at J28 slowly creaks open; it's dark in there.

She's able to figure out how to get it back online.

heh heh....

It'll take 10 minutes.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

huzzzzzzah!

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

"Alright Edwin, Lady Alinya; tell us what to do."

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Castiel, Edwin, and Alinya start working on the thing.......and get a minute's worth of the task done.

(waiting for Rholfy atm)

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Larissa helps wherever she can.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

"Hold this while I ....twist this....."

M Human Cleric / 6

Rholf turns away from the portcullis, walking calmly back to the winch room, beckoning any near the portcullis to follow. Once he reaches the threshold, he remains in the hallway and whispers "One of the doors behind the portcullis moved. There will be confrontation once it's lifted. The door that moved is the right-most on the far wall." He will then cast Protection from Evil on Alinya, draw his scimitar and wait, facing the portcullis.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Anybody else want to say/do anything?....

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Larissa's eyes widen a bit, but she returns to the portcullis to hold this to someone stronger can twist that over there.
