Edwin Drood |
Sounds good to me! :)
And Edwin, his body at last catching up with his brain, FINALLY sets thought to action and tosses the flask of Alchemists fire over the top of the crenelations.
Can we use the above roll? that was a good roll. I hate to waste it. ;P
As Edwin tosses the flask with a gentle 'plop' as it lands above, his invisibility fades about the same time as the volatile liquid in the flask ignites with a roar.
Presuming that tossing flask is still an attack, and would cancel my Invis/Vanish. :)
"Liek my fine Arthropod! If you would be so kind as to blind our erstwhile attackers? I grow weary of their perfectly adequate archery skills!" He calls,...
Leik Fire |
After the fire detonates, Leik will manipulate the blaze. DC 14 will save
Fireworks: The fire is turned into a blinding display of fireworks; a flashing, fiery, momentary burst of glowing, colored aerial lights. This effect causes creatures within 120 feet of the fire source to become blinded for 1d4+1 rounds (Will negates, DC 10 + ½ class level + Charisma modifier). These creatures must have line of sight to the fire to be affected. Power resistance can prevent blindness.
Trying the above, for realsies this time
blind: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

"Whoops! How undignified!" Comes Edwin's disembodied voice. It is tinged with disdain. Whether for the grease or his failure to pay attention to it is unclear. Because. You know. Invisible.
:)"Excellent plan N'Kai. And one I shall be happy to implement once I have extricated myself from this,... ah, yes. Thank you." Edwin continues in more mollified tones as the Grease area vanishes.
Edwin prepares to follow N'Kai's excellent advice. 'Couldn't have done better myself. I'm obviously rubbing off on him.' Edwin congratulates himself as he pulls out a flask of Alchemical fire.
This is for NEXT turn, I think? ;)
Still invisible, Stepping to the side if need be for a clear shot, Edwin gently tosses the bag of flammable Alchemicals in a gentle arc intended to take it up and over the edge of the gatehouse crenelations.
Toss the bag! d20+7
"Yes! All yours Liek my good arthropod!"
Alchemist's fire damage is 1d6 ⇒ 4
dungeonmaster heathy |
Also, Larissa's scimitar hits troll number 1d4 ⇒ 2 she never specified.
Leik's pyrotechnic thing goes off. It snuffs out the alchemist's fire when it does.
Fireworks shoot out of the gate tower like a roman candle.
Rholfy's turn.
N´Kai Sureblade |
Thanks, Heathy!! N'Kai´s plan would have had no sense otherwise...
How high are the gatehouse walls, BTW? What about the gate: is it wooden or metallic??
Also guys, let´s try and focus the attacks on one of the trolls, so as to bring at least one down, shall we?? ;D
dungeonmaster heathy |
nope. didn't see that. I just knew Edwin wasn't invisible any more.
so, Edwin gets hit, 12 hp damage with a rock, because he threw some s@&& at them and that's an attack. And they're mad, french trolls, like outta MP Holy Grail, and spit in your ganaral dirrecshon, and throw a cow at yall and...and.....
j/k.
But Edwin gets hit. That part aint no joke.
Edwin Drood |
Edwin makes a sound of surprise. It was NOT a suppressed squeal or cry of alarm. Honest. And them promptly pulls out a small pouch of tools, including the shiny magical file they had found earlier, and begins fiddling with the door,...
Disable Device (Open door) with +10 from skill, and +5 from magic file: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
"Ah,..." This sound is MUCH more of a self-satisfied, almost smug sound.
dungeonmaster heathy |
The stairs on the right go upwards in this room. There's not a whole lot interesting upon casual perusing. The ceiling is 25 feet up.
Intersexion of wx 12 13 is a portcullis; it is down; it leads out to a bridge, which ends at a door that enters the next tower over across the bridge over the waterfalls.
There's two really ugly skinned dogs, resting on the bridge.
There's no guardrail on the bridge either, except for about a 9 inch rise at the edges that are probably more use for tripping people than anything else really.

Ahhh the same safety contractors that did the 'Death Star' must have gotten the contract here as well.
Evil overlords really believe in natural selection for minions.

LOL! Too true. It really is NOT hard to find good minions. It IS hard to find good minions who are also dextrous, apparently. ;P
"Ah-hah!" Edwin remarks in his infuriatingly non-explanational way.
"After you! Please do not feed the animals,..." The detective says dryly.
Larissa Brightfoot |
Apparently #2 has taken a wee bit of damage from my scimitar if we want to focus on one. We need to deal some fire or acid damage to 'turn off' its regeneration for a round, right? It would seem that Leik is the most logical choice to initiate attacks against a particular target. Sadly, Larissa has not much to offer - Searing Light is not a fire effect, that I can tell, and her other spells are not terribly offensive other than the scimitar.
Edwin Drood |
Heh, that's quite alright my lady! Between our inflammable insectoid and our unflappable detective, we have enough FIREpower to burn this place down! (I really need to finish updating my PC page. Edwin bought a lot of Alchemical items. A. Lot.) ;)
If our stalwart warriors (notice how I politely did NOT refer them as meat shields?) ;P can knock them down, I think Leik and I can keep them down. I hope. :)
N´Kai Sureblade |
"I´ll take point and give those fraggers something flaming to chew on. Leik and any other capable of holding his own in melee come upstairs with me. The rest keep them occupied with missile fire" comes N'Kai voice from somewhere near the gate.
Then the still-invisible elf is on the move, entering the gatehouse and crouching near the bottom of the stairs, futher protecting himself with a shield of invisible force.
Swift action to enhance N'Kai scimitar to +1 keen flaming for 1 minute (5/6 AP remaining), move action to Y20, standard action to cast Shield on himself

Someone bot me for a day or two please
I will NOT kill the bot'ted PC. I will NOT kill the bot'ted PC,... ;)
Waved forward by the gesticulating Edwin,...
Aethor hustles, dashing to the entrance with his companions to join them in returning the Trolls hospitality,...
Aethor does a run(/double move?) to get under the entrance. He ends up (approx) X 19, lining up with Rholf and N'Kai for the assault up the stairs. He would prefer to use his bow, but realizes that it is going to get crowded up there very soon, and pulls out his fancy curved blade as he runs. :)
Larissa Brightfoot |
Larissa's spiritual weapon continues its assault on the troll while she casts another spell through the illusion, aiming at the same creature.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Searing Light ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 3d8 ⇒ (6, 3, 6) = 15
No on the searing light, I'm sure, but the scimitar threatened a crit.
confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
dungeonmaster heathy |
Rholf and Larissa's scimitars hit troll 2 and Rholfy moves up to W20.
Aethor runs up as well.
Their turn....
A trap door opens in your ceiling, at mn 18-19 on the roof map. The stairs don't seem to lead to "this" particular trap door, the door to the stairs is in the square with the "st" in them i.e. Y 17.
Something gnarly comes pouring down on you guys. Hot boiling tar.
Aethor, Rholf, Leik, N'kai roll a dc 15 reflex for half damage.
I guess that for Leik, it's considered "fire damage," so f!@$ it; whatever his resistance is to that is in effect. He still has tar all over him though.
Edwin's behind Rholfy and Leik and so doesn't get in the blast radius.
3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6) = 15 damage from cauldron of boiling tar.
Then, one throws a rock at Aethor, but misses.
Group's attack!!!
N´Kai Sureblade |
Ref save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
N'Kai will come up and slowly move to P16 and then attack troll4, his invisibility dispelling when he strikes the beast.
+1 keen flaming scimitar: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
damage: 1d6 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (1) = 12
Swift action to recall shocking grasp using 1 AP point. 4/6 left

Ref Save: 1d20+3
Rholf hadn't planned on going up the stairs, as he can't lose sight of his spiritual weapon and it still be useful against the troll. If anything, he'd move back to stand with Larissa. Sorry if I wasn't clear about my whereabouts.
Duly noted.
I need people to say exactly where they're moving from here on out.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
dungeonmaster heathy |
[dice=Ref save] 1d20+8
N'Kai will come up and slowly move to P16 and then attack troll4, his invisibility dispelling when he strikes the beast.
[dice=+1 keen flaming scimitar] 1d20+11
[dice=damage] 1d6+6+1d6Swift action to recall shocking grasp using 1 AP point. 4/6 left
** spoiler omitted **
Nkai gets to Y16/P16.
He's at the top of the stair.
There's a trapdoor. It is not open. He has to open it first.
Now, at MN 18-19, there's another trap door. One could missile troll 2 or 3 from Nkai's position, but could not melee either of them.

Got it Heathy. And perfectly reasonable. (I apologize for being one of the most frequent particpators in the 'move me as close as you can' category) ;)
Question, Can Ed use the reach on his whip to try and snag one of trolls through the newly opened trapdoor? (I'm imagining the trolls face if it gets yanked down in the middle of a group of adventurers.) :)
I know I would have to move to a position to do so, I guess it would be a Trip attack?
