Rholf channels to heal anybody who's not feeling all that great, then goes upstairs to pray and prepare...
Channel positive energy:
"Indeed." Edwin says cryptically to all of the previous comments.
"Well. They say there are 'none so blind as those who will not see'. Or possibly 'Con man delude thyself'. Either way,..." He shrugs.
"It seems patently obvious to even the most unobservant that we shall not change their presumably collective minds with a few, fine flowery words. We shall have to either acquiesce to their request. OR, stage a highly anticipated, risky and daring rescue. They obviously already know about how 'Ant' is being questioned. So they obviously have inside information. And they obviously believe they hold all the cards. Which begs the question,..."
Edwin looks up from where he has been picking at his own food as his mind raced.
"WHY are they so interested in getting 'Ant' back so badly? If he is indeed merely a lowly employee of a Scarnzi or similar group, he can hardly be worth the effort to force us to retrieve him for them. I believe that most organizations would simply deny he ever existed, or silence him to make certain he did not spill any secrets. What makes 'Ant' so special?"
Ed gives a small, tightly grim smile.
"I do believe that we may inadvertently have picked up more than simple employee. No wonder he was so, adamant, about refusing to talk to us."
One of the guards shows up, shortly thereafter.
"Yeah; just here to give you a report. He's a tough egg to crack, that one. He told us the guy's name was Mr. Fisch. Mr. Fisch was headed for The Furrows.
Then maybe Carrion Hill.
It's a long long ways from here."
"Thank you sir. Your efforts are most appreciated." Edwin tells the man sincerely, giving him the patented 'Gold Piece Handshake'.
"I do hope that Mr Ant was not,... unduly injured? It seems that his friends have taken an interest in his safe return. Perhaps it might be wise to take extra safety precautions while he remains in your care?" Edwin suggests to the guard.
Once the guard has left (after any other PC comments) Edwin looks pensive.
"Unfortunately, I'm afraid that this newest bit of information is not as useful as we'd hoped. Both the Furrows and Carrion Hill are at least half of Ustalav away. Far too distant to question this 'Mr. Fisch' and return in time to do Dobitoc any good." Edwin states with that look that says he is filing that bit of information away for future reference.
"So now we have 3 things to contend with. Finding the mysterious mastermind behind all of these terrible attacks (Which may or may not be the elusive Mr Fisch) which have been blamed on Dobitoc, presenting said villain at the trial and freeing Dobitoc, and the safe return of our own Leik. And of course, time is running short for all of us."
Edwin smiles.
"So, shall we finish breakfast?"

Soooo - we've gotten what we want? Do we let Ant go at this point?, the elf asks. Hes no friend of mine and I barely know your crew but it seems the right thing here is to get him back.
"I agree with you. Goodbye and good riddance, I say"
"We let him go, I think. And when he comes back - because I think he will come back - well, I'm not healing him this time."
The guard nods;
a few hours later The Ant is breathing free air.
A few hours after that, another scrungy messenger rides up and says Leik has been deposited at The Pond Rat.
"I guess The Pont Rat it is, then. Shall we??"
N´Kai will wait for everyone to be ready before heading to the street.
You guys get there. It's quiet. What do you do?
Put an arrow to my bow and search for cover... this smells of an ambush.
Spread out... this is a good way to hit us all with a spell.
Larissa's eyes narrow at the thought, but she doesn't move yet.
N´Kai gives voice to his fears:
"Let´s just be careful. Maybe these guys like to play by the rules and Leik is safe and sound waiting inside. But if I wanted to set up a trap for a party of troublesome adventurers, I´d do it in a place like this. I am wondering if some of us should wait outside, so that we have some forewarning if Ant holds grudges and this is really an ambush."
N´Kai scans the place for any sign of danger or mob lookouts.
Larissa's eyes narrow at the thought, but she doesn't move yet.

You don't appreciate any untoward or ambushy type behavior.
It's quiet.
It's just a trashy little tavern. Two stories.
"I´d say some of us enter the tavern to check if the´ve got Leik in there. Meanwhile Aethor plus Edwin or even myself could cover the alleys with bows and stay alert."
"Duuuuuuude. You have any skunky?"
"If we are dividing our forces, even temporarily, we need to divide our healers. I will feel more comfortable knowing the better fighters are coming to rescue me than I will knowing that I must rescue them. Based on that, I think Father Kastigarr should remain with those watching while I enter the bar. Alinya, care to join me?"
"I may as well go inside with you, since Edwin probably can fire a bow at least as well as I do, and I feel more at home within melee combat anyway" .
N´Kai falls in line with Larissa and possibly Alinya.
"Duuuuuuude. You have any skunky?"
"No! Go away! This could be dangerous!"

If he's not all sheets to the wind, he's a damn good actor.
Rholf simply nods at the impromptu plan being hatched, and leans against a wall across the street, trying his best to look relaxed while his shield and hammer are at the ready, and the flames continually rising from the top of his head whip silently in the breeze, then fan out along the wall when the wind lulls. It forms an odd sort of crown, visually.
Aethdorduil tries to find some shadows lurk in and attempts to stay statue still therein

N´Kai will enter, since he is the one that suggested splitting up.
N'kai opens the door. There's an old bartender at the bar, and Leik is lying still on a table nearby. Nobody else in the place.
The old grognard looks at N'kai and whomever else is present and says, in a surly tone, "can you get him the hell out of here, before he starts burning stuff?"
"Thank you, sir. Please accept this as a token of our steem for taking care of our friend and to repay any incovenience he has caused." N´Kai leaves 10 gp on the bar and approaches to the table.
"Can you hear me, Leik? Are you hurt??"
"Not sure if it´s safe to move him. Would any of you who is more schooled in the healing arts, care to examine our fire-loving friend??" he says after a minute.
The girl hurries over to their friend, quickly working to assess his injuries, but making sure to look for nasty surprises his captors might have left.
Seeing Leik being treated, N´Kai carefully examines both the main room of the inn and the inkeeper.
Leik sees 4 of everybody. He rolls off the table and thuds to the ground. His daggers look like ice cream scoops. His equipment looks like it's covered with squirming worms. He feels like vomiting, but it's just dry heaves.
Leik is at 0 hp.
She used the heal skill.....it's all good.
Leik has a bad headache.....

"Lady Brighfoot, if you can heal Leik, then we should move out as soon as we can and rejoin our friends outside. I can also administer him one of the potions I am carrying."
Edwin casts his own keen eyes over the establishment, and the man staggering therefrom. Nodding his acceptance to the plan he unslings his bow and casually leans against a corner of the building, watching the Pond Rat intently. As if he can mentally convince it to give up it's secrets to him,...
