I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Rholf; Alinya are up.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Edwin looks briefly surprised, then smiles at the others with his usual self-confident smirk.

"Well, don't just stand there. HIT the blasted thing!"

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

heh heh......right on.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Huzzaaaaah!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

niiiiitey nite!!!!

Human Wizard 6

Alinya casts again and this time the conjured hand glows an icy blue. It leaves a tracery of frost where it touches the crocodile's hide. Cast chill touch. Touch attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13, damage 1d6 ⇒ 6, DC 16 Fort or lose 1 Strength. 3 uses remaining.

Encouraged by his prior success, along with Edwin's expert use of that whip, Rholf attempts to lay some more smack down on the massive animal.

+1 Warhammer Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Before turn: Castiel's hp 24/43

Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Larissa, concerned about keeping the warriors on their feet, asks Sarenrae's blessing on the paladin, also.

Cure Light Wounds 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 4 = 8

After turn: Castiel's hp 32/43

The croc wiggles to get away; he's hurt by it.....

Castiel misses; Larissa heals him though.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The gator tugs loose of Edwin's whip........he's free, and backs up into the drink.

Castiel, Rholf, and Alinya get an aoo.

Then it's the group's attack.
When the MAIN attack happens, the gator is in the water at its current position, however,, the AOO happens when it's still on land.

Let me know if that's confusing.

So, for example,.....Castiel could hit it once with the AOO, and to hit it again on the new round at 5 feet, he'd have to step into the water......

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

And, it's NOT an evil act to attack a retreating alligator.

It's called........hunting.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Castiel's AOO 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Confirm 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Critical Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Dead gator.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

end of combat. 850 exp each.

Link Boy

"HOOOOEEE! BOAH! THET GO BE SUM GATOR TO FEAST! HEP ME! HEP ME HAWWUM UP TUH LAND, BOAHS!!!"

The lone guide rows back, and gushes with ebullience. He ropes the dead gator, and starts hauling it more like on to shore.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Huzzah!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

And,......yet again,......another bard doing a minor bit of gamechanging. With a bullwhip, but......it's a bard.
Theorycrafting ftw!!!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

HUZZZZAH!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

niiiitey nite...

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Castiel staggers over to a tree stump and collapses onto it. He takes a deep breath and says a quiet prayer to The Inheritor before leaning to look at the damage to his leg. "Miss Brightfoot, my thanks to you and your goddess for keeping me upright while we fought that, that... 'gator'."

Larissa blushes and looks away, making a show of checking the others for wounds. "Does anyone require aid?" She makes a point of checking with the locals that accompanied the party, as well.

Glad that worked! I was about to feel very worthless until that grapple/whip roll! :)

I tell you what though, I like the Detective abilities and all, but I'm REALLY starting to miss that Bard song/boost in battle! ;P

Edwin calmly wraps up his whip.

"Well, THAT was fun." He says with a hint of a smile.

He joins teh others in checking to make sure that everyone is alright.

He currently has a 2nd lvl cure spell if we need to use it! ;)

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Cool. I'm debating the channel energy option - I could not use it without including the 'gator before. I think I'd prefer you held onto that cure spell if there's another combat before we rest.

No worries, as Bard I'm a spontaneous caster, so as long as I have a 2nd lvl spell slot unused it's always available! :)

"Now. Before any OTHER uninvited guests arrive, let's examine the area shall we?" Edwin says politley. He walks around and starts checking out the undergrowth, being wary of more 'gators. All the while chatting about how tightly interwoven the ecosystem is, and pointing out the various flora & Fauna,...

IOW, he's using his bard ability to give everyone a +2 on ANY/all skill use/non-combat checks. Lasts for one hour. :)

"Well done, everyone. That was a fearsome creature, and a good team effort," Alinya says. She starts to help the others investigate the boneyard, starting off with an inspection of the large wooden box. The spectral hand hovers behind her for another minute before dissipating into a patch of faintly green slime.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Castiel gestures from where he sits, "Thank you, Brother Rholf. Before the winged beast came upon us, I saw an old campsite over there."

Castiel's hp 39/43
Castiel's remaining LoH 2/6

With a sigh, he stands, gingerly testing his leg and marveling at the wonders of divine healing before moving to aid Alinya in her searches.

Everyone remember your +2 bonuses to ALL skill checks, etc (non-combat) ;)

The gravestones are extremely basic; nothing too occult or religious about them. A log, sometimes an actual stone, with initials rudely carved in them. Some neat, some rather lowbrow jobs.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

For perception checks, I don't need an actual square on the map, but a general location like "the camp," or.......the copse of trees at NO 5-6."

Do you mean G-I 16?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

HUZZAH!!!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

back in an hour or two maybe.....kids back in school; busy dad and all.

Edwin first searches where the Manticore jumped out, suspecting it might be the beasts lair.

Afterwords, he will try to figure out if the gator that jumped them was the same one that was supposed to have jumped Dubioc.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Edwin finds a nest.

There's three large eggs, volleyball sized.

And a corpse. Looks dwarven.
Dressed in a colorful patchwork coat.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Huzzzah!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

On cursory examination, there's no way to tell if this was the gator that attacked the Beast of Lepidstadt.

Link Boy

"Thet mighta been the same gator as ate on the Beast. Can't tell; it wuz dark thet night....."

Ah, THAT explains the reason that the manticore attacked so viciously. He was a mommy." Edwin says with a straight face.

"Hm,... I wonder if manticore's would make good watch-creatures,...?" He wonders aloud, gazing at the eggs. Then he shrugs and begins inspecting the dwarven corpse.

Doing the Sherlock thing on the corpse,...Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The coat has numerous pockets.

Find:
an oil of keen edge,
a 30 gp silver flask of brandy
a felt purse with 50 platinum and 100 gold
a +1 short sword
and
a wand of ghost sound 30 charges.

He's been dead a shorter time than the incident where the villagers chased the Beast here.....he's only a few days' dead. A week at most.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Huzzah!!!

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

"Really? How can you tell... Oh! Those are eggs?"

Larissa looks at the corpse to see if the cause of death is the obvious, or something else that the manticore just took advantage of.

Heal check 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23

"I'll bet there are people that would buy the eggs and train the young."

Human Wizard 6

@Heathy: Yep, I meant Alinya is looking at G-I 16. I can't remember how you described it.

"I wonder what an 'gator' skin that big would fetch?" Alinya wonders absently, as she bends to inspect something in the undergrowth. "Not that I'm proposing to do anything with it myself," she hastens to clarify.

"A dwarf. With a partially used wand of ghost sound. Very curious indeed."

Heal check 1d20 + 13

There's a massive set of double puncture wounds on the forehead and the back of the skull, and the corpse had a broken neck.

It appears to be a boat, lying on its side. It's camouflaged with some branches.
