Why not throw out the dribitoc suit thing now? It immediately raises doubts as to what the morast ppl were hunting?
On the underworld thing? What's the bet they have a bunch of coins from the Whispering Tyrant era?
Ragadolf |
Yeah, good questions.
(Did we trace the knives? I think we got side-tracked) ;P
As Edwin pointed out in-thread, I think we're hosed pacifying the crowd no matter how much we convince the judges. They want a victim.
I would prefer to give them the guilty party. :P Not Dobitoc or one of us.
<Sigh> What are the odds of our culprit actually pulling a Perry Mason (and other shows) and actually being a high-ranker in the courtroom, AND tricking him into revealing himself? :)
I'm not convinced its NOT one of the judges even (other than the guy who hired us. Makes no sense to hire competent investigators to find you out.) But if we think the others are not part of it, maybe we can convince them to help us somehow? Make a big show out it? phrasing the dramatic release of Dobitoc in such a way that the guitly party fraks out and trips up?
<sigh, again> Wishful thinking I know. (It would be awesome if we could pull it off though!) :D

Just had a thought, (I'm not cheating, I swear.) :)
1) I still think that the mastermind behind all this has the Effigy and plans to use it for some naughty-not-nice ritual of some kind. I still want to try to get off the Locate item spell to see if we can pick it up. (Maybe in the hallway once our meeting is done?) ;)
2) I just recalled (And would have to roll to see if Edwin remembers this lil tidbit of info) that Golems are usually made with a control amulet.(?) (I read that somewhere? probably pre-PFRPG) Which means that no one TRICKED Dobitoc into storming the library, they simply controlled him and made him do so. If that is true (BIG if I know) then they will still have the amulet to protect themselves against Dobitoc and possibly use him later. Dobitoc is not the most helpful of clients, but if he can describe his amulet, we could try to Locate Item on it, and THAT would also lead us to who is behind this!
Yes, I may not have much time on my hands, but I obviously still have WAY too much time to think! ;P

i think nabbing the skinsuit and putting it on a dead body or something would be the best bet.
That is BLOODY BRILLANT! After its admitted as evidence it isn't needed any more. Use that.

I second what Larissa says, I don´t think that could work. The skin-stealer use of his skins is a supernatural ability. In fact, the skin-suits are probably beginning to rot by now...
Leik Fire |
true. but...
1.) we ARE up against a bunch of slack-jawed yokels.
2.) Leik can let Dobitoc use his hat of disguise for an escape, follow him out of the city (or simply be carried in a pack), then retrieve his hat once Dobitoc is safe.
1+2=3.) even if the shoddy skinsuit+corpse charade only distracts them, it could be enough to get Dobitoc out with the metaphorical hood over his head.

I am due to fly o/seas on short notice for a project - I will have delayed posting for the next 3 days. I hope this does not equal 'No posting' and will try to put something up.
I will do my best to keep things flowing BAU but air travel will chew the next day or so.
N´Kai Sureblade |
Back after some nice vacation. Will try to carry on with the witness´ recall of the facts. Any of you diplomatic guys feel free to step up anytime before the crowd riots... ;D
Ragadolf |
Working on it.
I'm supposed to be of this week, but got a call today,...
Seems My joking is real. They really CAN'T live without me for more than a day without wigging out about something! ;P
Will try to get the ball rolling again.
We found a 'skin mask' that led us to the Chymicule works, right?
As well as those cool tools.
Also, found the prestige class 'sleepless detective'. Which sounds more like what I was looking for to begin with. Going to check it out once I get some sleep my self. :)
Leik Fire |
Leik isnt diplomatic AT ALL, so it is best he be quiet, and makes the most sense for him to lay low in case any stabbings need to happen
as for my personal life, i've got some sort of bug or something. doesnt affect my posting too much, but let's just say a certain "storm brewing down south" has got me planning my days around proximity to a bathroom. i can't figure out if it was something i ate or something going around work :(
Ragadolf |
Nice work! :)
IN other news, I owe everyone (in all my PbP's) an apology. There is a lot going on here. (Which stinks, since it's supposed to be my last few days off until July) But despite all of the distractions and 'emergencies' I think I just have a serious case of Creativity Crash. :(
So, apologies, please bear with me. I will keep posting and try to regain my PbP steam asap. :/

FYI-
I am now loading /teching/stage managing the latest youth theater show to cross my stage (Les Mis) also during university finals week.
Access to pc- Small
Time to access- Nil
Look on my face when this show is over- Priceless
Sorry in advance, will catch up when I can, but I figure this is a 2-day lighting programming show, plus the evening rehearsals.
Thanks all, Have a good week!

Ok, working a decent post in my head. Need to make sure I have the script right.
-Dobitoc accused of killing swamp locals.
We discovered Someone is disguise must have done it. They may also have been killed by a really big gator and maybe the manticore. Found skin mask and specialty tools.
-Dobitoc accused of killing children in other village.
Discovered undead infestation was the cause.
Did we find any other clues to the big picture here? (Ancient coins?)
-Skin mask and tools led us to Chymicule works.
Discovered many versions of flesh golems in various stages of experimentation. Also met Mr Skin-Stealer. Found his Dobitoc Suit. Fairly obvious to the most unobservant that something bigger is going on. :)
Argh,, what am I forgetting here?
Do we want to mention following the ancient coin trail to the crime bosses? Probably not, since we met vampires and didn't really find what we were hoping for. (And the fact that we would be confessing to participating in the burning of a building. Even if it was in a fight for our lives against vamps!) ;P
Let me know what you think, I'm planning more of a 'let's cut to the chase' type presentation, and laying it all out for the jury. Both for the dramatic reveal, and to help speed up a possibly longer PbP court case.
:)
Ed's gonna be really ticked if we don't end up finding the mastermind. His ego can't take that kind of failure. :)
But he will settle for outwitting the lokel yokels and rescuing Dobitoc if he must. ;)

Maybe we should ask around to locate the maker of the knives

There was something about the beast being unable to climb the wall to Elsa´s bedroom

Maybe it´s just Vorkstag and Gryme using the beast to cover up their crimes and someone else using the Beast´s rampage to cover the theft of the Effigy
Larissa Brightfoot |
I suspect that last is the right of it. The Effigy thief took advantage of the boogeyman reputation, gave it a face, and set it up for capture. When a bunch of nosy nellies started poking around, they started paying off thugs with ancient coin to scare us away.
I doubt the conspirators had anything to do with the wraith's hunting in the village.
Ragadolf |
Right, DObitoc could not have kidnapped Elsa without breaking through the wall or window. He could not have fit otherwise. :)
Probably the closest 'guess' of all Pixie/Larissa. It does fit.
Ed's gonna be perturbed if there was no BBEG behind everything. I've decided he's a conspiracy theorist of the first order. Well, maybe the second order. (He's still more Sherlock than The Question)
;P
Ragadolf |
Dangit, I'm sorry for the constant delay guys.
It is not fair to you all, who have already been more than patient.
But unfortunately the work just, keeps, coming.
Example, last night strike of Les Mis included the reset for ballet/dance shows for the next 4 days. But of course I did not get everything done and now I have guys calling in sick today. :/
I really do have some good (or at least entertaining) Edwin lines and delivery planned for the trial, and I hope to get a decent post up soon. But if you want to say that Ed vanished following some clue (real or imaginary) and continue I will not be upset.
Thank you for your patience, I WILL deliver a decent post soon! I swear!
Ragadolf |
OK, I'm back!
Well, briefly at least. :)
I should be able to post for the next few days. No promises once we get to Friday and the weekend though. :P
OK, presuming that we are all agreed, I will attempt to make an Edwin-worthy post for the trial. Something to propel us ahead and lay our all of our investigations on the table. Since we know that they are pretty much going to throw Dobitoc to the wolves (or the fire, actually) Ed will give one last heartfelt entreaty for the court (and the people) to not look for a scapegoat but to release Dobitoc.
Presuming it will fail (Mobs are notoriously single minded) we should proceed with our plan to rescue Dobitoc. :)
Any last thoughts before I embarrass myself, I mean make a grand speech and then fail miserably on the roll?
;P
Ragadolf |
Alright,
spent a lot of time skimming through past pages, trying to remember all that we have done.
Mixed results. I think I skimmed too fast. :P
We investigated the Swamp village, and found the wraith in the other village. And we investigated the Library.
What did we find at the place that burned down? They accused the beast of burning it.
