I own all of the AP's to date, but have not read even half of them, including this one. Was this series of encounters from the AP? Or was this another brilliant Heathy 'They're following this trail so lets give them an encounter that will eventually get them back on track' device?:)
I believe it. But I had to ask as you intertwined it with your usual smoothness, so I could not tell.
<_< >_>
So, which way back to the (Main) plot?!? :)

It's Leik!!! j/k
that reminds me of the roaches we have here in hawaii. A week or two ago, I threw a sandal at one at such an angle that the roach should have been squished and the sandle should have slid along the tile floor. Instead the shoe just stuck there, so plentiful were the guts within the creature.

Um,... ew?
To quote another PC in another Heathy PbP;

OK, Ed has a plan. ;)
Now if this were one of my favorite novels, it would work without a hitch. But even I know better than that. ;P
In short, Ed believes (hopes against hope) that the 'BBEG' or main villain behind everything we have found is still nearby. We just have to ID him.
Ed believes that anyone who goes to ALL the effort to pull off so many various schemes will not run off and hide now that he is done, but will want to savor his moment of triumph. Most likely he will be at the trial, to witness his crowning success before using the effigy for whatever nefarious & evil thing he plans to do with it. ;)
So, we need a couple of spells (scroll, prayers or memorized) of Locate object. Ideally we cast it and find the Effigy (we have a good drawing of it to go from) in the person's possession at the trial. If not, we use the same spell to locate all of the ancient gold coins present at the trial. (Looking for someone with them that is not us, obviously) Hopefully both locates lead us to the same person. We grab him/her and reveal they have the effigy, hopefully proving our case.
Otherwise, Ed fears that the trial will be very anti-climatic, with no 'big reveal' other than the sentencing of Dobitoc. :(

Has it been so bad presenting evidence at trial that there is nothing but a guilty verdict? Whatever other stuff you've been able to get a hold off and the reveals to the court have been crappy?

Clues off the top of my head, will need to read the thread again to gather more (I had been following this gaming thread for some time before N´Kai popped up):
-Found a skin mask at the bottom of the boat in swamp village
-Cabinet of fake skins from the skinstealer creature at the alchemical works, one of them large enough to impersonate Dobitoc
-Caiman bites on the skinstealer linking it to swamp village crimes
-You guys killed the child-wraiths at the village and found Dobitoc did not abduct that little girl from her house
-Someone used the assault as cover to steal the Seasage Efiggy (Ant´s testimony, obtained by nasty means, a.k.a. fingerscrews)
Not a bad point to start making "reasonable doubts" about Dobitoc involvement, IMHO ;D

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Man, you got this. You may not get your Perry Mason moment but you got this. This is enough to create doubts.
Would have been nice to drag in a live villain but this is ok.
Larissa Brightfoot |
Larissa is not a tactically-minded individual and has no idea how to proceed in a courtroom. She knows she doubts Dobitoc's involvement in all but the theft and what to do if a zombie or a ghost makes an appearance. Other than that, she's there for moral support.
And she's leveled up.
N´Kai Sureblade |
It's tax time in Spain also :( And no, I haven't done them yet either
N'Kai has very little social skills, and Intimidating the jury does not look like a good tactic for some reason... But he is smart and could help Edwin or any other to state the case (via aid another or just whispering the right clues in the Beasts attorney's ears). I believe that we have a fair chance at "not guilty" if we play our cards right, however!
Of course, should a fight break out, the magus will be more than ready...
Ragadolf |
LOL!
Yeah, I'm looking forward to the RP fun of turning Edwin loose in the courtroom.
Should be right up there with doing a production of 'Fiddler on the Roof' in WW2 Germany. :/
(Yeah I know. But I'm tired and just couldn't think of any other comparison that wasn't TERRIBLY inappropriate for a family web site)
:P
Yeah. This'll be fun!
:D
I promise to try to post around my work schedule during the courtroom postings. Would be bad for Ed to suddenly go mute for 2 days! ;P
I'll update soon as I can. (But I HAVE to work on my taxes tonight. Seriously.) :(
N´Kai Sureblade |
Heathy, I was thinking that once all preparations for the trials have been made, Alinya, Nkai and any other willing to go along may visit the market or the local magic stores. This will allow us to replenish spell components and spend some of our ill gotten gains to purchase some spells or potions if you would allow it.
I would bot Alinya spell choices but I´d like to give Will the option of a change whenever he comes around (provided that you agree, of course).
Leik Fire |
Leik will tag along with anyone who buys stuff and he will try to get a rush rush rush order on some more outfits, if there is a tailor that will take his business. No problem with paying up front, would like to wait while the outfit is completed. He is small so should be a fast tailor job. Essentially he wants something to wear to court that isn't his current set of raggedy potato sacks sewn together. a suit, doesnt have to be a nice one in particular (but bonus points if he can get a deconstructed linen seersucker suit with a small bow tie or something similarly "court in the south").
Also, is there a place around here he could get a hold of a hat of disguise or somesuch?

N´Kai Sureblade |
Been looking into what spells would N´Kai and Alinya look for at the magic shop and who could use them, according to the tactical needs of the party and maybe Edwin´s plan
Level 1: maybe floating disk (N´Kai, to launch Leik or Aethor into combat so they can full attack every round)
Level 2 scrolls: detect thoughts (Alinya, find culprit), locate object (Alinya, search for Efiggy or gold coins), web (both, crowd control), false life (Alinya, more hp), cause fear (Alinya, crowd control)
Level 3: nondetection (Alinya, cover our tracks), clairaudience/clairvoyance (Alinya, scrying), slow (both), haste (both)
Any thoughts, Ms. Gurov?? We have 489 gp from Ant to spend, plus N´Kai has some spare cash left. We could also sell the thieves´ tools and the hand crossbow since no one seems to want them.
N´Kai Sureblade |
Also, Leik, if you find yourself a Hat of Disguise , there´s no need for you to order a new suit, since you could change your appearance at will. Just thought I´d point that out ;D

Crap has hit the fan with work. Will post as best I can for the next 48-72 hours. Please bear with me.
Oh Good.
It's not JUST me then,...;P
Catching up best I can guys.
Sorry, but my aunt (who does my taxes cause she's a genius and she loves me) is currently calling me not-nice things because I still don't have my $#!^ together.
:(
And being stuck at work 12-14 hours a day is NOT helping!
Just saying,
(Wouldn't be so bad if I weren't salary. But because I am, technically the longer I work, the LESS I actually make per hour!)
:P
Ragadolf |
yeah hopefully they start something and i can gut them
While I confess that this would be a MOST satisfying course of action, (for both my PC and his player) I rather suspect that displaying our considerable talents at murder-hobo-ry IN the court room might not help our case as much as we might hope. :P
In other news, the outright warning against magic in the courtroom (while not entirely unexpected) is going to put a serious cramp in Mr Drood's fine plan. :/
THIS is where I wish I was nearly as clever as my favorite characters. (or at least nearly as clever as their authors) So I could have foreseen this and planned a suitably clever alternate plan. Or 5. :(
