Round 5
The group runs, Board has the knocked out whelpling under his arm. Baris shakes his head but follows leaving the furious mother and all but one whelpling behind. End of combat.
The group stops at the base of the switchbacks then quickly gets to the gate. They follow Bastion unless otherwise noted.
Board, 1 more fort save DC 13.
Assuming there will not be any donation. The priest beseeches the wind and the air to give speed and clarity to one of the flock, may you have luck and safe passage back. You gain the effect of aid for your first combat.
The crowd pauses, those on the fringes step back, then the scarlet witch speaks up, "He has no power here, it is just another fey ploy. He must be a fey agent, deal with him and then we can continue our business." She has much sway over the men and she bolsters them with a spell.
Theldore steps forward letting a few of the gathered host to step aside. A trail open before him until the magically influenced are before him. The others move away giving them space.
Then they begin swinging, Theldore swings back. Their weapons mostly hit his armor and are deflected, as Theldore downs a man with each swing. His magical sword glows as it fells the enemies, leaving no wounds. After a few rounds the other magically minions get into distance of his flank... Are you there? If so begin your attack. Round 1&2 you may prepare yourself, Round 3 you have one lumberjack; AC 14, 8 hp. Round 4, two more lumberjacks. Round 5&6, no new lumber jacks. Round 7, one new lumber jack. Round 8, nothing new.
Bastion The Flaming Juggernaut |
As they enter the gate Bastion claps Board on the back
"Well done man!"
Turning to the group he goes on "That goes for all of you, give me and Board a moment and we'll be back"
Bastion takes the welpling under the arm and runs with Board to the Fire Temple and hurries into Hephestia's room and hands her the welpling
"One Fire Dragon Welpling, as ordered my lady"
Garret Ironheart |
"Almost got our bacon cooked there at the last but, all's well that end's well, I suppose."
Garret returns to the Square to sit and calm his rattled nerves.
"Damn sure don't want to face a full-grown dragon any time soon. Are y'all's hands shaking, too? Too bad there wasn't any loot to pick up in all that mess."
'Hmm...I should probably also check out that Kat's Gamble that Kami-sama mentioned earlier. I assume it's a bar.'
Aien Exalmim |
Rd. 4
Aien 5. Foot steps and shoots the yellow whelpling
Rd. 5
Aien runs with the group.
That was close.
I don't ever want to do that again
Sorry for posting late
Ise'dranl |
"What kind of donation? 'Cause I don't have any money yet."
If it's only money Ise bows to the priest respectfully and thanks him after he finishes and Ise begins to walk, almost skipping, out of the Air Temple and into the town's square.
tin_man |
I'm there, but trying to push things towards the witch. I have no prep to do so I skip through Rounds 1&2. Do you want to do the rest round-by-round so the lumberjacks can get their attacks in?
Round 3
As the first Lumberjack wanders into reach James lashes out with the devouring hand, tearing at the man violently before grabbing hold. The hand shudders with anticipation as blood is spilled.
Devouring Hand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
Now back at town, Board takes a look at the mirror, a swirl of smoke surrounds him as very little changes to his appearance. A power he can feel welling up in him though, and he feels a lot more proficient with his unarmed strikes.
GM Wolf |
Round 3
The lumberman is secured in your grip and can't seem to get out.
Round 4
Now 3 lumberjacks are focused on you... One is grappled by you as the others look to be ready to strike with their axes. You get to act first
Garret you see a rather strange sight. A player with a green bar above his head. Once you get a little closer you see the green is writing, Late Arrival.
Ise'dranl |
Ise caught a little by surprise by the old man gives a jump when he starts the conversation but he quickly recovers. "Absolutly!" Ise pulls A full days worth of trail rations from his pack and hands it to the old man. "There, will that do?"
Garret Ironheart |
Garret takes notice of the, in his opinion, very out of place Title above the individual's head.
'...? The hell? That's totally MMO-like.'
Garret calls out, "Hey! Late arrival fellow, you might want to do something about the neon sign over your head. Although, I'm not sure who all can see it. Makes you a wonderful target."
Bastion The Flaming Juggernaut |
"No need for embellishments than don't offer any added benefits. For the decision on the metal to use it might be best to leave that up to you, I just want the armor as strong as possible. As for Baris' hair, how much do you need? I'm wondering whether to trade him for it or cut it while he's asleep"
Bastion laughs
"Perhaps pissing off a god would be a bad idea, until I have a guardian angel watching over me"
Bastion winks at Hephaestus
GM Wolf |
"Yes thank you me boy, let me tell you a secret that may prove useful in the days to come. Come closer that only you may hear." The old man croaks out.
Ise'dranl:
Bastion The Flaming Juggernaut |
He smiles at Hephaestus
"That will be all for now I believe, I'll look for it in the dungeon as you mentioned earlier today, I hope to join your Chosen soon lady"
With that Bastion sets out to see his team and see what crystals Baris managed to scavenge from their dragon scuffle
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
"I would like to hear you're secret old man."
Ise'dranl |
Ise gives the man a respectful bow. "Thank you, that will be very useful." Knowledge (Local): What and where is the House of Steel? Knowedge (Local)+Inspiration: 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (19) + 5 + (2) = 26
Ise turns to the Tiefling who shouted at him a few moments ago and is now looking curiously at him. "Did you say something about a neon sign? And how did you know I came in late?' I'm assuming that I can't see the green letters over my head, but that it would show up near where the HP gauge would, like in SAO. Ise, catching a glimpse of the late arrival banner, "That explains it. So, I guess it means I missed the big announcement at noon then.'
Edit: I forgot to ask, What is the Caster Level on the Aid blessing I got?
Garret Ironheart |
"Heh, big announcement, yeah. Uh, well, turns out this isn't a game at all. Our minds were transferred into these bodies in an alternate plane of existence and the only way to get back home is to defeat the final boss in the Tower. It was also mentioned that there's threats from the four cardinal directions.
So, we're stranded in an unknown world with nothing but the clothes on our backs and we have to survive and strive to grow, if we want to go home. So, the basic premise of the game remains.", Garret explains as he attempts to recall all that was said.
Extending a clawed, scaly hand in greeting, "The name's Garret, by the way. Didn't expect to see Titles like that or latecomers for that matter."
Ise'dranl |
Ise laughs jokingly. "That's a good one! Now what was the announcement really about? ... All humor drains from Ise's face. You're not joking!" Ise stands silent for a moment seemingly in thought before laughing hysterically, "Talk about raising the stakes. This game has really gotten interesting!"
Ise takes Garrets hand and gives a firm handshake, "The name's Ise'dranl, Ise for short. I didn't expect to be late, I ran into some server issues when I tried to log in and it took forever to resolve."
Scratching the back of his head sheepishly, "I don't want to be rude but, would it be alright if I joined you or your party? My abilities are not the most conducive to soloing."
GM Wolf |
Remember their AC is 14 and only have 8 hp. So with the AoOs you will likely down one jack each turn. Now if your symbiote would prefer to feed and kill them, then you might need to take extra swings on the felled foes. You likely would have to do a Will save to hold back and focus on the other threats, right?
Round 4, two more lumberjacks.
Round 5&6, no new lumber jacks.
Round 7, one new lumber jack.
Round 8, nothing new.
Board are you with Bastion? If so you would not be in the Square to hear the old man, though it is your choice.
The Caster Level for the Aid spell would be 4.
It is the most prestigious martial school in sanctuary and has the biggest courtyard in town for one building. Affiliations with gods in the fire or earth domains are looked upon with favor, especially if a chosen of such domain.
Ise'dranl, you can't see the neon green letters above your head but yes you can see it on your HUD like in SAO. It will go away soon enough.
Garret Ironheart |
"Yeah, if only it were a joke. I don't mind you joining but I'm not the leader. Well, we didn't pick a leader but whatever. Doubt the others would complain. More hands means we can accomplish greater things.", Garret says as he leans back on the bench.
Did nobody follow me to the square?
"Just finished capturing a dragon whelp for the Tank's god-quest. Mother showed up at the last, nearly became dinner for our trouble. Next, I think we're planning to do a delivery to an outpost in the plains."
Aien Exalmim |
Aien also comes up and offers his hand to Ise'drandl for shaking.
Do I have green letters above my head too?
He looks straight up.
I wonder how it did that.. I mean transport us into another "reality".
He ponders, before he says:
Aha!
10 bucks it was the Super Hadron Collider!
Garret Ironheart |
Garret thinks for a moment before he says, "Well, from what I've seen so far we can definitely conclude that magic exists here. I mean look at me, I was human until a short while ago. And I came face to face with the goddess of death when I first, well, arrived.
So, it's possible there was some kind of bleed through the boundaries between this plane and ours. Someone on our side found it and decided to play around with it. Whether that's good or bad for our world is irrelevant at this point, in my opinion. I'm more concerned about surviving the day and finding a way to pay for a room tonight."
He looks down at the shabby, muzzle-loaded pistol, "Definitely need to get funds for more effective equipment as well."
Ise'dranl |
Ise shakes Aien's hand and chuckles at him. "No words above your head." Ise joins Garret on the bench, his eyes going wide at the mention of dragons. "You guys are gutsy going after dragons, even just whelps, on the first day. A nice delivery mission sounds a good start to our adventures together."
Noticing Garret's pistol and Aien's musket, "So I guess you two focus on ranged damage dealing? What do the others in the party do? I know you mentioned a tank, are there any players of the rogue-ish persuasion?"
Garret Ironheart |
"Right, me and Aien here are gunners. Bastion is the Tank, Board is a melee damage dealer. Miss Darkling was recommended as a healer but she's also a musical buffer. Lord Baris is the god of monkery and speed, his words. And Delman, I think his name was, is some kind of mage, I think. Beyond that, I don't know if anyone has rogue abilities or not.", Garret says as he looks down, listing off the group.
"Right now we're waiting for Bastion to return from delivering the unconscious whelp for his quest, no idea what he's getting in return."
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
Baris is walking around in the square. Up on the short wall he balances waiting for all the boys to come back.
Jellena Darkling |
Jellena has been Garret's shadow since back from the Fire Gate. She raises an eyebrow at the new addition but shrugs. She shakes her head at Aien.
Delman Fredrel Vortani III |
Delman seemed to slip away as soon as the group got into town.
Bastion The Flaming Juggernaut |
Bastion heads to the square where they were all going to meet. He turns to Baris
"My god! Your hair is getting WAY too long, come here, let me give you a haircut"
Jellena Darkling |
"I like being silent as death." She simply says leaning against a wall. You should check out the link for her description in her profile... lots of skin showing.
"Delman, he popped his head into one of the stores near the fire gate. Are you going to tell the new boy about 'our situation'." She says not really seeming like she cares.
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
Baris shakes his head animatedly and yells at Bastion, "HELL NO! Hephaestus and I don't get along, who knows what she would do with my hair. Board, keep him away from me. You try anything and you will have a headache like you would never believe."
Garret Ironheart |
"Understandable. It's the quiet ones you gotta keep your eyes on.", he says winking.
"I was quite similar before coming here. I figure that communication is gonna be extremely important for survival, so I'm trying to suppress my urge to go crawl in a hole and hide from everyone."
"Situation?", Garret looks a tad puzzled.
"Ah, if you're referring to this bein' an absolute life or death scenario.", he says with his arms spread wide.
"Yes, I did. Unless, you mean something else?"
Jellena Darkling |
She nods and amiably says, "Yes about the life or death scenario. Did you also tell him about the mirror? Do you know about the mirror, do you have a mirror in your equipment?"
Yes you will have a mirror.
Ise'dranl |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
A small smile crosses Ise's face.
Ise chuckles, a little confused, at Bastion's interactions with Baris but remains focused on the conversation at hand.
Keeping his eyes on Jellana but trying not to stare or blush at her unique outfit, "I saw the mirror in my pack but Garret didn't tell me about it. Is it some sort of appearance changer?"
Garret Ironheart |
"I mentioned before I was human a short while ago. Seems that's essentially a...well, for lack of a better term, Character Reset item. You can almost completely rebuild yourself to better suit your desires, from what I can remember of the experience.', Garret says struggling to find his words.
"All I did was change my race and clothes a bit, nothing fancy."
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
I was in the square with my master or otherwise simply occupied with the mirror.
Defensively standing in front of Baris, "Don't you worry, Master Baris...I'll protect you hair... Tank verses striker...who would win?"
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
"Perhaps the better question is who strikes harder since you both seem rather defensible. Anyways shall we head out to the plains and get this quest over with?" Baris says as he begins pulling packs out of his backpack. Each package seems to be half the size of his backpack, though he pulls out eight packages.
Garret Ironheart |
"Why are you guys willing to fight over hair? Rather, didn't Lord Baris say he would give you some for an orange crystal? For that matter, what do you need his hair for anyways?"
Garret picks up one of the packages and stuffs it into his bag.
"Thanks for holding on to this for me, Lord Baris.", he says as he shoulders his now laden pack.
"Geh, omoi...a-ahem, I mean, heavy.", obviously strained under the load.
"Suppose, we oughta get this show on the road, eh? Good thing, I got a map when I picked up this request."
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
Each package is about 50 pounds. 7/8 left to pick up.
Baris keeps Board in between him and Bastion and mutters, "I did make the deal with you Bastion and Hephaestus is not one of my nemesis. You come up with I suggested and you got your lock of hair."
Ise'dranl |
Ise jumps up, walks over to the packages, "spits" on his hands rubs them together and picks up a package with a groan. Through tensed teeth "It's not that heavy." Ise quickly puts it in his pack. "I'm ready to go!"
Aien Exalmim |
Obviously the Super Hadron Collider! Why didn't I think of this earlier!
Aien then notices everyone around him, talking.
Yes, I was totally listening.
He picks up a package and falls over. He gets up.
I did it...
He drags his bag with the package inside to Garret.
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
Each package is about 50 pounds. 5/8 left to pick up.
Baris asks, "So are we heading South, South East or East? I don't remember what the guy said, I just picked up the packages. I can go check just let me know." He still keeps a watchful eye on Bastion doing his best to keep his distance or Board nearby.
Garret Ironheart |
"Okay, yup, looks like a couple of us need extradimensional pockets or we need to improve our strength.", Garret says as he chuckles at Aien and Ise.
"Personally, I'd like to get my hands on that Vault Pack I remember reading about. Hard to say if it actually exists here though. Hope it does.", he says while scratching his chin.
"Uhh, the request sheet doesn't say and it looks like I forgot to have 'em mark the location on the map.", looking at said articles.
Jellena Darkling |
Jellena goes over to the packages bends over slowly to show even more cleavage. She then stands up and asks, "So which of you burly men want to carry my package?"
She thanks Garret and gives him a peck of a kiss on his cheek.
Then she asks, "Garret why don't you elaborate on what you know or think you know about the quest. Perhaps some of us know of something associated with it. That might be better for us all to do before our current quest."
Garret Ironheart |
Noticing a second sheet stuck to the back of the map, "Oh, they gave me the directions, too. Why didn't I look at this before?", Garret facepalms.
Watching Jellena, trying to hide his line of sight, "I-i-i'll take that, Miss Darkling.", he says as he adds the pack to his load.
Quite obvious that he's overloaded, but he refuses to complain.
GM Wolf |
All outposts could use resupplying. Head North or South along the river to any of the outposts. The other option would be out to the East in the plains is an outpost. If you are interested in creating a new outpost please let us know about any strategic or economic value of such an outpost.
