Rusigari Rashiska |
"And I am Rusigari Rashiska, pleased to meet you Ms. Solaris."
"You seem to be a student of the arcane arts as well, miss. Do your magical senses tell you anything your physical ones do not? Though they seem far superior to mine, in truth. I had not even noticed teh markings on these columns until you pointed them out." he says with a grin.
Tarlane |
We will move over to the game thread once everything is sort of fixed and established, but I am looking for us to have established our team and got all the introductions and the like out of the way before we move forward. This is our chance to get to know each other and make sure you are ready to be a functional group.
Looking around and brushing clear some of the moss on the stones to better see the signs upon them, it seems that each of the starsigns are represented. The sign of the specter would be upon the stone that Selene was initially standing before(if further investigation is given, you will find that you each were before the stone that held your own star sign when you awoke.).
Rusigari Rashiska |
"Hm, come look at this Selene. See that strange purple hue? If I had to hazard a guess I would say these stones themselves were at the very least the tool used to bring us here. They positively GLOW with that color, indicative of some sort of Conjuration magic. As weird as it may sound...perhaps we were actually Summoned here. For what purpose though, I have no idea."
Selene Solaris |
Selene takes the advice and casts Detect Magic.. "Ooh! Now that's some powerful conjuration magic.. My favorite school to be precise.. This could very well explain how we got here.. Teleportation and Summoning spells are standard in the school.." Thinking a bit, her brow furrows.. "I don't suppose you all have a tattoo similar to this?" Pulling her sleeve up she reveals a long, wispy marking that starts at her wrist and travels up her arm, shoulder and ending on the side of her face.. She has the Spectre sign..
Rusigari Rashiska |
Rusigari starts pulling up his sleeves and pant's legs, even pulling his shirt up to look.
"I don't seem to have one that I can tell. Is it on my back?" he turns around and pulls up his shirt.
"If not, there's only a few more places I can think of where it could be. And quite honestly I don't feel comfortable flaunting my *clears throat*...assets in mixed company."
Meanwhile the tattoo glows brightly upon his forehead. I should probably copy-pasta that description from the other thread to my profile.
Rusigari Rashiska |
"My forehead? That thing? That'll be hard to cover up."
"So, the Spectre. It seems very fitting, though I don't quite know why yet. Well met, Spectral Sister!"
If it's not too late, I kinda had another idea for a slightly different direction for the character. Somewhat more lighthearted and less rigid, perhaps TN or CN in Alignment, as far from the norm for Rakshasa as possible. Mildly comedic since I think this game could benefit from some occasional levity, but definitely not into the "Plucky Comic Relief" direction. Still wants to be a full Rakshasa again (later, anyway), but for two reasons: His head is filled with all the stories of the cunning, power, and nobility of the Rakshasa, which he wants, and he wants to prove that you can have all that without the rigid control and cruelty of the race. If it's too late to change though I understand.
Tarlane |
Not too late at all, Rusigari. Until we move over to the actual game thread, I'm using this as a chance to balance out characters and sort out this kind of thing. I'm glad you two have hit it off, hopefully some of the others will chime in and have finished up their characters and then we'll kick it off.
Alexander BadAxe |
Alexander looks over himself. "I don't see anything"
You don't see any tatoo ether it must be in a not often seen place
Tenoch Itzcoatl |
Tenoch had used Detect Evil earlier (the last RP post before the pause). Any result from that?
Tenoch blinks to refocus his eyes on the conversation about tattoos. He then looks down at himself but, covered as he is, does not see anything. "I don't...," he begins but pauses as some kind of inspiration flashes through his eyes. The constellation of the Firedrake... I have it... How do I know this? He then unbuckles his armor and peels it and the underpadding off of his chest, revealing a large tattoo of the Firedrake over his heart (left pec). "It seems I have one as well," He touches it with one hand before covering it and rebuckling his armor.
Selene Solaris |
To Alex.. "Well 3 of us here have these markings.. It stands to reason you and Sir Halfling here also have one of them.. These markings match the stone here, so its obvious to me that we are some sort of chosen or something.."
Tenoch Itzcoatl |
"Matches the stone?" Tenoch asks as he sees Selene standing next to one of the stones, demonstrating the similarity of its markings with those of her own. He then looks around at the other stones to find one with the same design that he had revealed on his chest. "So it seems," he says, approaching it. This symbol is the same as the one on my chest... What does this mean? He then reaches out a tentative hand to brush it against the stone, reaching up to the symbol there.
Selene Solaris |
"I think we're all in agreement we were probably summoned here, but until today I've never met anyone else with a constellation marking.. This would indicate that we are special in some sort of way i think.."
Rusigari Rashiska |
"Special? Special how, I wonder."
"Hrm...well, I don't think we're going to figure it out standing around here, no matter how interesting these stones are. Perhaps we should leave this circle and try to figure out where we are in the GRAND scheme."
Tarlane |
Ach, I missed it Tenoch, sorry.
It looks like we are getting close to moving forward. I'm going to send off a couple more PMs to clear up some last issues and then I'll get our game play thread up.
Alexander BadAxe |
Alexander takes out his badaxe.
"If these stones are part of the game summoning us here then there is an obvious solution"
Alexander yells and smashes into the column next to him.
enter rage for the attack
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
damage: 1d12 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19 I hope I calculated that right +7 str two handed weapon power attacking
well going by the hardness and hp of stone it would seem I only chop about an inch. Look forward to getting an adamantium BadAxe
Selene Solaris |
Shocked at Alex's actions.. "Um i dont think thats the right thing to do Sir Barbarian.. Those stones are magical, therefore your apt to break your axe than to damage them.. I don't think there are diabolical forces at work here.."
Tarlane |
The sudden swing by the orc strikes the stone with a heavy metallic clang and rebounds hard in his hand, nearly jarring out of his grip. For the power behind the blow, there doesn't seem to be any obvious marks left on the stone. Whatever magic infuses them clearly makes them much more solid than simple granite.
Tenoch Itzcoatl |
Tenoch looks incredulously at Alexander's actions. What an... "Why would you do that?" he asks shaking his head. "These aren't trees. Since when do axes cut through giant stones?"
He sighs, turning to the others, "I was not able to sense any evil within these stones, but there seems to be some remnants from the past of an powerful foulness outside of them. No longer there, mind you, but it was powerful enough to leave a trace."
"Given that this power did not leave its trace here, and that this area does still offer the feeling of... I don't know, safety and warmth... why do we not wait here until whoever called us here, comes forward? Perhaps they will have the answers. Unless such a thing could happen without an intelligence directing it?" he asks turning to Selene, who seemed to have knowledge of this kind of magic.
Sumak DeVir |
Stil trying to supress a laught well we can hope or the summoning just activated during a special condition by it self. A preordained alignement for example. Nether the less we are here. The good question is what to do next ? Explore each on our own or stay as a group? he replied
Selene Solaris |
"That is what i suggest we do Tenoch.. We weren't brought here to just be left wondering why i don't think.. Eventually we will figure out why we are here.. Or eventually someone/something will tell us why we're here.."
Tarlane |
I've spoken to Alexander and he agrees that we are looking for different things in the campaign and will be stepping out. I've sent a PM to imirtle to give him an invite towards the game, so hopefully I will hear back from him shortly. As soon as he gets a character whipped up I'll get us in and moving and will deal with working out the bugs of his character as I can.
imimrtl |
I'm here! Working on a character concept now. It looks like you all need a skilled character but I will make whatever you all think you need. Super excited to game with each of you! Let me know what you think as far as group dynamic goes. Thank you Tarlane for the opportunity.
Selene Solaris |
A Ranger wouldnt be horrible either.. Urban or Trapper would give us a disabler as well.. But a bard would be alright and could disable too though.. As could my summoned critters for that matter lol.. With 2 melee and 2 casters already you can really play whatever you feel like..
Tenoch Itzcoatl |
Play whatever you feel like playing. If some concept inspires you, then do it.
Otherwise for advice... Some kind of skill monkey makes sense. Both Rynjin/Rusigari and Selene's ideas are sound. Feel free to look at our characters if you want to shore up some skill weaknesses in the party (although some skills can be good to have two or more trained in it). Some kind of ranged combattant (or switch hitter) may be useful too since melee may start to get crowded with ACs and summons. But again, play what you feel like.
imimrtl |
Ok so I decided to go with a Grimspawn Tiefling Alchemist specializing in bombs for some ranged damage. He also will be a decent skill monkey as well. I am going for a root canal now and will finish up my character tonight in my drug induced haze lol. Thank you all for the input and can't wait to get started.
Rynjin |
Blood of Fiends changed all that. The Feat is only needed for the "roll on the table for a random benefit" thingamajig now if I remember right. I'm positive it's not needed to take the variant heritages now though, there was a thread about it a while back.
Tenoch Itzcoatl |
Do you have two versions of the character? I see two sets of stats with only very slight differences.
Tarlane |
Alright, I'm back up and running. I'm going to catch up on posts and then I'll give your character a proper combing through Saradel. I suppose we are still early enough to allow for a little handwaving here... Feel free to post yourself in Saradel, perhaps you are a bit more of a heavy sleeper than the others. Or the loss of one allowed the goddess enough power to return another. You guys can try and figure that one out ICly.
I realize the last delay was on my part, but I think we've held back long enough. Hopefully Saradel will be able to get a post in before I finish going through their character, but we'll be ready to move forward into the game thread then.
While the blow to the stone didn't seem to have any sort of physical effect on the stone monolith and nothing occurs long enough for a round of jokes, there apparently was some result in the attack. The fog still surrounding the island surges forward around the stone that was struck, like water rushing through a crack in a dam. Its able to make it just far enough to surround Alexander before smashing against some sort of invisible barrier. It pools thickly enough that even the massive orc cannot be seen through it and then slowly retreats back, pushed back inch by inch until it is back outside the stones once more leaving nothing behind.
Saradel Starflower |
A soft snore is heard when the fog pulls back and a comely woman with long black hair is arrayed out on the ground. She is arrayed with a variety of clinking bottles and flasks and is wearing red leather armor. Her shapely hands end in graceful, but wickedly sharp, looking nails. A long thin tail twitches back and forth, almost like a snake looking back at you. It proceeds to prod the woman, who snorts and wakes drowsily muttering I swear if you have woken me up for anything less than me being transported to a far off land in my sleep...I will cut you off! Looking around and at all of you staring at her she says ...well I guess that answers that...
Standing up you see that she is tall and thin. Her tail seems to move of it's own volition, looking around and poking at things.
As a point of reference, I am playing this character as very attractive...but weird. She mutters to herself a lot, has full conversations with her tail, doesn't understand peoples need for personal space...that kind of thing.
Rusigari Rashiska |
Rusigari clears his throat loudly "Uh...huh. Yes, well, that settles that. Nobody touch the monoliths."
"Though it seems we received someone in exchange." he looks at her appreciatively "And WHO might YOU be?" he says as he wildly waggles his eyebrows "suggestively".
This will be short lived as far as "flirting" goes, I try to avoid it except for comedic purposes.
