.Wayreth. |
Have not played it before, but was hoping there'd be some plot-information or help given. Ah well.
"Go in peace then, Maffei. I hope our actions have shown you that not all the people on this plane are vile kidnappers," he says with a smile.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"I like the wagons idea. Would be good if we also had a few animals to pull the wagons for us though. Moving heavy stuff around is not exactly my forte."
"We should also try to make the trip to that crypt. We ARE going up against a true dragon, and as exciting as that is, the odds are currently stacked against us. We will need to explore every opportunity to obtain every advantage we can get."
Ethendril h'Caramore |
Hmmm...reviewing the notes a bit makes me think we should try the Crypt of Tula first. While I like the idea that we would safely reach the monastery with our ruse, if we meet the dragon there we might not have some useful stuff we need to defeat it. I'm changing my vote to the Crypt. Also, re the ring of protection +2. I think Wayreth or Ethendril would both be good candidates. If you are truly planning to stay in melee rather than attack from range like you have been, you can take it. But if you are going to be skirmishing or doing ranged attacks, I think it would be better for me to take it and get my AC to 22.
.Wayreth. |
I voted for the crypt too.
And I've been waiting for this level specifically so I could start to do melee. I now get two attacks (flurry) at +8 to hit, 1d6+5 base damage and 2d6 sneak attack on top of that. Just set me up with a flank. =)
.Wayreth. |
"We could put the word out that the villeage is taking some time to put the dragon's 'tribute' together, and us few are simple farmers going to the crypt to try to retrieve some family valuables to add to the pile?' Wayreth shrugs.
"Some simple clothes, broad cloaks to cover our weapons and armor for those of us who use such things, and we should hopefully avoid appearing noteworthy at first glance."
Harlis Underbough |
Nodding Harlis agrees while checking over Daylight's gear. "The crypt would be a good idea, we can ask the town to put together a few wagons for the 'caravan' while we investigate there. Traveling at night also sounds wise."
Hotspur the Unsettled |
"I call shotgun!
Hotspur the Unsettled |
@team: Should some of us guard the rear of the wagon as well? It might be tough if we get pinned down on either side.
.Wayreth. |
I'll go beside Hotspur and behind Ethendril. Want to be near Ethendril since I think he's going to be my flanking-buddy.
Harlis Underbough |
Harlis will drive the wagon as, while he doesn't have training, he does have quite some natural talent with handling animals. Daylight trots alongside the wagons horses keeping them further settled.
Harlis is +6 handle and Daylight is now as tough as a warhorse and with 3 INT, also sentient.
Hotspur the Unsettled |
Works for me.
Ethendril h'Caramore |
With their marching order set, Ethendril looks to the others.
"Stay sharp. This will not be an easy task. We all need to contribute our best."
With that said, the paladin marches into the night.
GM Engleaktig |
Is everyone good with their current placement on the combat map?
Going once...
Going twice...
Gone!
With a scream a flame drake swoops into action. From 90 feet above, it hocks a fiery loogie at the party. (Fireball breath.)
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 5, 2, 1) = 19
Agnes Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24, 9 HP damage
Daylight Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11, 19 HP damage
Ethendril Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6, 19 HP damage
Harlis Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15, 19 HP damage
Hotspur Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24, 9 HP damage
Wayreth Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, evasion
Next breath in...: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The party is up!
Ethendril h'Caramore |
"Spread out!" Ethendril exclaims as he pulls his new longbow from his back. He readies an arrow should the enemy come into view.
Guess it's night...and I can't see this thing?
MW longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Harlis Underbough |
Draft horses are +7 reflex and average HP 19.
Harlis grimaces both from pain and knowledge that mounted on the wagon he isn't going anywhere fast. Holding the reins he calls upon the holy power of Iomedae then says "Daylight flee!"
Channel: 2d3 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 Versus DC 10 trick.
Hotspur the Unsettled |
Hotspur fires both barrels of her musket at the drake...
paperwork: Hotspur burns two grit points to up the touch range on her attack to 120'. Firing both barrels is -4 in addition to the -4 for two range increments.
Barrel 1 ranged touch: 1d20 + 8 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 4 - 4 = 5
barrel 2 ranged touch: 1d20 + 8 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 8 - 4 - 4 = 18
Damage barrel 1: 1d12 ⇒ 2
Damage barrel 2: 1d12 ⇒ 6
.Wayreth. |
Wayreth scowls. He had been hoping for a chance to try out his new techniques... He raises his crossbow and takes a shot.
"Anyone have a means of getting that thing down here?"
attack roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
damage roll: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Who?: 1d5 ⇒ 5, Wayreth
Bite+Charge: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 2 = 25, Bite+Fire: 2d6 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 5 + (6) = 14
Wayreth suffers a grievous wound.
The party is up!

Harlis spent the first round channeling. Did you intend to cast resist energy can cast after the drake's turn?
Hotspur the Unsettled |
Is it still really far away?
Yes, just want to confirm range before posting.
Harlis Underbough |
Via the picture it looks like Harlis was at the front driving the wagon with the party behind. So he would cast Resist on himself then oping off the wagon and moving towards Wayreth, hoping to reach next round.
Ethendril h'Caramore |
Ethendril moves to get a better shot at the drake. However, the paladin does not seem as skilled with the bow as he does with the blade.
He also heals some of the wounds he has suffered.
MW Longbow (+4): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
swift lay on hands, fey foundling: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10
Hotspur the Unsettled |
Hotspur reloads one barrel and fires again...
point blank ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25
damage: 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
.Wayreth. |
Wayreth moves up to Harlis and takes a full defence action.
"That thing packs a punch..."
GM Engleaktig |
Round 2 roundup:
Drake: Bite, 26 HP damage received from party
Agnes: Magic Missile
Ethendril: Bow, lay-on-hands
Harlis: Resist Energy
Hotspur: Shoot
Wayreth: Move, full-defense

Round 3:
Move Action: The drake lands between party members so that it can reach you all. This provokes an AoO from Harlis.
Standard Action: Bite:
Who?: 1d4 ⇒ 3, Harlis
bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26, Bite+Fire: 2d6 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 5 + (5) = 18
Harlis takes only 13 HP of damage, as he is able to resist the 5 HP of fire!
The drake, not realizing that Harlis didn't take all the damage, roars with an arrogant sense of triumph.
The party is up!
Ethendril h'Caramore |
Ethendril drops his bow, steps forward, and swings at the creature. In the darkness, the footing is treacherous, and his blow comes close...
MW Greatsword (adamantine)(power attack, flank): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 162d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 = 15 don't fail me again, dice!
Agnes-Emberkin |
Agnes will stay where she is, and will use her lightning lance: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 if the lightning touches she will do 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10 points of electricity damage.
The target's vision is also impaired, causing the target to treat all creatures as if they had concealment (20% miss chance) for 1 round. It can attempt a DC 14 Fortitude saving throw to negate the impaired vision.
Harlis Underbough |
Harlis faced with the huge beast that almost ripped his life from him calms himself and calls upon the embrace of Iomedae to aid his companions and protect them.
Ouch, Fire Resist saved me from being unconscious. Channel, +2 AC, +2 Attack from charge and healing.
Channel: 2d3 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
