Hans Olafsson |
"Right. Well, there's plenty of stuff up here, but nothing hostile/dangerous. It looks like his heir is going to be getting a pretty sizable inheritance!"
Hans turns to look at the others.
"Shall we head downstairs?"
Ting Tang |
lots of nice shinies, would be fun to come back at night and look at the stars
ting nods his head and leaves the third floor on his way to the basement ?

Ting has a last lookaround in the room and on his way back to the stairway corner of the eye he sees a creature sitting on the southwest portion of the 1-foot-wide ledge which runs around the edge of the dome. It looks like an obese infant, but with leathery skin mottled with spots of grime, curling ram's horns, sharp blackened teeth, and black eyes with no pupils. It has four leathery bat wings, but is simply sitting on the dome's ledge and watches you.
Ting Tang |
ting stops for a moment, blinks his eyes, lifts his goggles and takes another look, not wearing them, blinks his eyes again then puts his goggles back in place
well that's not normal
ting standing in place calls to his friends
"Oy, Hans, Felicitas, you's bloody well should eye balls 'is. wroight"

Hans scratches his head for a little while, before realisation dawns.
"I think it wants someone to sit in the chair..."
He turns to Ting Tang.
"Is it safe? For some reason, I don't automatically trust mute, demonic-looking babies, that are resident in mage-crafted death-traps..."
Ting Tang |

what in blazes?
Ting overly distracted by the creature looks from Hans to the chair to Felicitas back to the creature back to the chair, he shrugs his shoulders and answers
"I can't wroightly say gov'n'r, It looks safe, but 'at don't mean it is, I say's we just meander on our ways or kill tha thing on premise, wroight."
Ting Tang |
Ok, no reason not to, not in hurry

Ting toddles over to the chair and carefully looks it over from top to bottom, this time being meticulous.

GM Baerlie |
Ting tries to disable the trap on the shocking chair, but the creature does not like that and hisses when it sees Ting tinkering at the chair. It attacks.

In addition to 50 rare star charts that focus on strangely empty-looking swaths of the night sky, lying on the tables are an exquisite platinum astrolabe, six rare astronomy tomes of aged Taldan pedigree, and two expensive handheld telescopes. In all, this stargazing gear is worth 5,000 gp.
After dealing with Lodo Ting leads the way to the basement. The spiral staircase leads down to a small room which is connected to two other rooms. These rooms are cluttered with dozens of stacked crates and chests containing only mundane household supplies - nothing of particular value is kept here. The southernmost room has a door to the west.
Ting Tang |
"of course yer Bisectorness, I's would love ta check tha door, wroight" Ting nods and proceeds to the door leading to the west, check the door for traps and locks he opens the door and looks inside.

Ting checks the door for possible threats, but it's unlocked and opens easily. Behind the door is a room which seems to be some kind of lab. Six stone slabs sit on the floor of this chamber. Ueaped upon each are metal tools, gears, springs, and other parts for the construction of mechanical creations.

Ting searches the room and detects a secret door to the east. The door is not trapped, but squeaks horribly on its hinges when opened.

Felicitas has a look at the mechanics in the lab, but can't tell what it is or what it does. Ting continues through the secret door, down the hallway to the open gate. The room behind is bare, except for a conjuration circle of silvery metal inlaid in the stone floor and a small, rickety table on which sits a thin journal. Trapped inside the magic circle is a small creature.
Ting Tang |
magic circles and creatures, even I know not to mess with this seeing the contents of the room, Ting is very careful as he stays out of reach of the circle, he carefully inspects the room, "I's'l get tha book off of tha table wroight." attempting to retrieve the Journal.

"I'm an accuser devil, my name is Chirit. This wizard summoned me and trapped me in this circle and left me alone. He did not show up for days now. Please release me back to hell!" the creature answers.
Felicitas knows that the creature is indeed an accuser devil, but can't tell anything about it.
The journal is a summoning journal.

ting hands the book to Felicitas, "I's'l wager half o' whatever 'at thing tells is a lie, wroight. Can we just leave it wroight 'air till we figur out what ta do wit it?"
Hans Olafsson |
Hans raises an eyebrow.
"The last small flying thing that we encountered in here attacked us. That did not end well for it. If we release you, and you do not immediately go back to Hell, we will destroy you."
Assuming that he has the creature's word that it will immediately return to Hell upon being released...
Hans breaks the summoning circle.
...and will be totally unsurprised if it attacks, but Devils are *usually* true to their word, so I could be pleasantly surprised!
Ting Tang |
hearing that Hans intends to break the circle, Ting places himself on the other side of the creature so he can quickly flank, in case it decides to stay on the mortal plain. Having his bastard sword already drawn ting starts contemplating his choice of weapons. let's see, evil little outsider, do I need holy water and coldiron or is it acid and darkwood. Or is it virgin olive oil and oregano. I wish I had paid better attention in those classes. oh well, I got two swords, may as well use them Not really knowing what to fight evil outsiders with he also draws his sawtooth sabre, nodding to Hans and announces " 'ese'll have ta do's wroight."

Ting follows the hallway south and around the corner, but he does not spot any traps. The hallway ends in front of a door. After a minute checking the door he declares it safe.

Reading through that journal, and making notes here and there Felicitas gives little grunts and aahs before closing it again. "Well fellas, time is wasting. But at least it was well worth reading... in a very unique way."
Ting Tang |
ting works his way down the end of the hall, and after inspecting the door decides it safe to go in, As he opens the door he tells Felicitas []"You's'l have ta tell us tha story wroight?"[/b] He then opens the door and looks inside.

Ting opens the door. The walls of this room are covered with arcane symbols. In the northern chamber, a wooden table sits against the eastern wall, with several items laid atop it. A bright light shines forth from an opening in the south wall. The light ends before a single small cell enclosed by a gate ofbright metal etched with strange sigils. Within the cell is an amorphous cloud of shadow, a shape thats difficult to fix one's eyes on.
Ting Tang |
we have something here, I have no idea what it is, but we have something Ting taking in the features of the room, his eyes finally setting on the 'amorphous cloud.' He turns his head back over his shoulder and says to Hans and Felicitas Oy, we has somt'in here, I gots no clue as ta what it is, but we's gots somt'in, wroight" Leaving whatever is in the cell to the others to sort out Ting begins to inspect the contents of the room.
hhmmm, maybe we will try something different and he will take 20 (30) on perception for the room. Is there a knowledge check we can roll to see if we recognize the 'shadow'?
