Jeji stabs at the animal, but she lacks to the strength to do much harm. Perrik steps to Drahlneep's side and with a touch calls upon divine power to mend many of his wounds. Pained by its wounds, the striped wolf-thing is unable to get another taste of Drahlneep.

Just die, damn you! He stabs as hard as he can with the bloody weapon.
Spear: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage if hit: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Wow, two max damages in a row. I'm going to fail my next ten saving throws now, aren't I? :P
Draco Voodoo |
Jeji delivers the killing blow! Though to be honest, the whiskered weirdo was probably dead already after Drahlneep drove his spear through it.
All is quiet once again except the moisture dripping from stalactites into the slowly flowing subterranean stream. Just as you wonder what has happened to Vornop. The pale kobold swims from the tunnel into the cave. He drags himself up onto the slick stone shore and you notice shreds of netting on him, but no artifact. He looks ashamed as he tells his tale:
Vornop was just getting ready to follow when a human and ROBOT approached. They seemed friendly at first and said that they knew the kobolds, but as soon as they got close enough. The robot caught Vornop in a net and tossed him into the pool. It would have been the end of the kobold if he hadn't had the potion of water breathing. He somehow managed to drink it underwater and eventually cut himself free of the net, but by the time he reached the surface, the man and ROBOT were gone with the Power Relay!
Drahlneep |
"Thank you, Perrik. Vornop's story just reinforces my opinion that humans should never be trusted. They're evil schemers with no respect for others!" Says Drahlneep as he stabs the Orc and his pet in the heart, just for good measure.
Jeji the Unstable |
Jeji silently cursed herself for trusting the human. She knew better, but once again she was too afraid to follow her instincts. Still, none of her brethren had perished yet. "We move on. We find something to use against the human and his pet, and we take our revenge. Be ready. This place is dangerous, and there are likely more of these" she says as she kicks the dead canine one last time for good measure. "Reep, see if the dead big one has anything worth taking."
Draco Voodoo |
Reep finds that besides the rudimentary armor and weapons, the surface orc has 2 silver disks, 10 gold coins and a brown card like the more monochrome ones they've discovered earlier. Surface orcs he notes have become slightly less robust with smaller tusks from living in the overworld. Their jaws are less heavy and foreheads higher almost resembling humans. The kobolds have heard that they are actually the result of humans mating with orcs, but they can hardly believe such a disgusting thing. Kobolds never sully their bloodline. The purer the blood, the closer to DRAGON!
Vornop takes a better look at the animal. "I've seen one of these before." He looks to Perrik. "In Meyanda's caravan, there were animals kept in crates. I saw them feeding them once and a head just like this one popped out to grab the meat. This orc must have been one of her followers!"
Draco Voodoo |
Loot secured, the newly merged kobold warbands move through the tunnels to the big cavern where their allies, the Hidden Ones, dwell. Not seeing anyone, the kobolds call out, but there is still no response from the secretive people. Finally, several form are seen by the great pit to the lower Underdark.
Investigation reveals the body of the leader, Sef and two other Hidden Ones lying near the edge. They are hacked and chewed upon. Of the others including young Leupel, nothing is found except perhaps a length of broken rope that dangles over the edge of the seemingly bottomless pit.
Drahlneep |
"Be on guard. I'm not sure one orc and his pet did all of this alone."
"I don't know. That...creature...was tough." Drahlneep responds before moving to watch the side of the cavern which leads to the mysterious metal cave.
Draco Voodoo |
The sides of the pit are rough and using rope, it is quite safe to descend. However, it soon becomes obvious that there will not be near enough rope to reach the bottom. Calling out again, all that is heard is the echo. The kobolds recall that Sef said the Hidden Ones came from Nar-Voth. If any escaped, they probably returned to their homeland never to return.
Draco Voodoo |
The kobolds press on with what is more likely to be a mission of revenge than rescue. The newcomers follow them through the strange metal caves to the great desert cave now horribly lit by two great red suns. The trail across the barren place is wider now and many more large boots have churned the sand. Several sets of claws mark from the whiskered wolf animals are seen as well.
The desert ends in the steep cliff that circles the place, broken by the reassuring darkness of another metal cave.

Are there doors to the south?
Jeji looks around, but is uncertain about approaching too closely to the southern wall which backs a pair of dark couches spattered with the rusty mold and fungus that clings to the wall. The old blood pooled around the doors to the north bears scuff marks and fresh tracks that Perrik notes since last time you passed. There remains a small unexplored door behind the desks with the weird pictures and the doors at the east end of the chamber.
Draco Voodoo |
The far door opens at a touch and a putrid stink comes out of the chamber beyond. The stench of mold and decay fills this open, dark chamber, no doubt created by the thick blanket of fungal matter coating the floor. Several chairs sit before work tables containing unusual tools and equipment, while a row of doors line the curved southern wall.
Drahlneep |
"Smells like old death," Drahlneep mutters. He looks around before entering the room, trying to take note of the fungi. "It doesn't seem like the softskins would have rotted this fast, and everything else here has been ancient. Could something else actually be alive in here?"
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Survival (looking for tracks/signs of life): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Draco Voodoo |
Drahlneep spots light trails worn into the otherwise moldy floor that lead between the doors. Obviously something small and possibly bipedal has been moving through the room and into the adjacent chambers. He also casts a suspicious eye on a pair of tall fern-like plants growing amongst the fungus in the dark.
Jeji the Unstable |
With the door open and the stench rolling out, Jeji entered the room. She slowly moved towards the chairs. Looking about cautiously, she examined the tools on the table, but her attention was too piqued. She picked one up and began turning it over and over, observing every detail.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Drahlneep |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Drahlneep detects the smell and instantly flies into an adrenaline fueled fury.
I'm after the baddies, but will hit my rage as soon as combat starts using my savage intuition power.
Draco Voodoo |
CLosest to the foul smelling plants, Jeji takes the full effect and is sickened. The tall weed in the northwest corner of the room whips one of its three leaves at the small kobold, but narrowly misses. Before the alchemist can retreat, all three long red-green leaves flick out and one hits the kobold. the leaf is covered in spines that cut Jeji and a moment later she feels a horrible burning pain from the wound!Jeji-4 slash, nauseated and fort DC 12 Another plant from the opposite corner drags its turnip like bulb forward with long roots.
Reep loads his musket and Vornop charges into battle, but is bogged down by the thick mildew.
