Guys, sorry this combat is running a little wobbly. The Warden is a tough boss with a lot of spells, and I'm trying to juggle him, the eight of you, and other events going on that you're not aware of (yet). I apologize for any inconvenience.

If we can figure out what this insubstantial thing is, I'll use Colour spray on it. Otherwise, Jax doesn't really want to drop a mind-affecting spell on something that may not have a mind.

I was asleep, was excited to see how my awesome slide under the legs, through the color spray, around the fire sphere and into the hamstring of the wizard went. Hope we didn't scare him away!

DM I think we asked Grumblejack to stay in the library and wait in surprise for any guards because:

1. Any bluff attempt by Jax would fail if they spotted him downstairs

2. To muffle any sounds made because the fighting would be further up in the tower.

3. At the middle level we could more easily support him if needed.

4. the possibility of a surprise on the guards

Oops, sorry no hostage for you. But on the lighter side, it is a rather good axe for chopping peoples heads off.


So, the Warden. Old Human Ari 1 / Wiz (Illusionist) 4. Spells that he cast:

1 - Mage Armor, Shield, Color Spray, Magic Missile
2 - Summon Monster 2, Flaming Sphere, Hypnotic Pattern, Minor Image, Mirror Image

The Thing downstairs was a Small Air Elemental. The Thing upstairs was an illusion of a Medium Air Elemental. (Old Illusionist's trick: summon a real monster first.) It couldn't hurt you, but it could soak up a lot of attacks and distract you. Nobody who interacted with it made their Will save.


His CMD was -1, so grappling was definitely an option. Oh, well.

Almost killed me, Bref, and Morty. He was definitely tough enough. Had me real worried for the beginning of the fight.

also I think you might be right Bref might be CE

Though the chaos I think is more in his gobliness rather than the traditional CE. Making messes, etc. He does adhere to his code of law, still, and I think is probably loyal to his friends, though that remains to be seen.

I did but I thought that was a trick to throw us off lol. When the 'thong did not attack directly I thought it was an illusion but by then I forgot about the hint that he was an illusionist. I thought he was an Enchanter for a minute.

Yay critical spellcraft! Its DC 20+spell level to decipher a scroll too, lucky break.

I say we gather all the loot together in a pile first, and then decide how to distribute it? Invisibility is very useful for summoners, stealthiness, and for combat people to get into useful positions in certain fights. Or we can keep it until Cimu and Jax can copy it into their spellbooks (which they should try and find in this room..)

I am down 5hp and Morsum is at 5 hp as well. I can heal him once more if necessary. I can be healed by Rosa's channel or inflict wounds spells.

Thinking forward, Shadow Beastie definitely needs this:

Frightful Presence (Ex)

An eidolon becomes unsettling to its foes, gaining the frightful presence ability. The eidolon can activate this ability as part of an offensive action, such as a charge or attack. Opponents within 30 feet of the eidolon must make a Will save or become shaken for 3d6 rounds. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the eidolon’s HD + the eidolon’s Charisma modifier. If the eidolon has at least 4 more Hit Dice than an opponent, that opponent becomes frightened instead. Foes with more HD than the eidolon are immune to this effect. The summoner must be at least 11th level before selecting this evolution. Source: Advanced Player's Guide

I'm not the best at the additional rules, I'm curious is there a magical item or even a Feat that can turn negative channeling to positive? Feat would be too powerful but it may be in a book, I don't play Clerics so I am not entirely sure, in my other pbp I have a Cleric but it's simpler 2nd Ed rules.

There is a feat that allows neutral clerics of neutral deities to channel both positive and negative energy. In the other WotW, I think I have seen infernal healing used. It is slower, but a guaranty of 10hp healed is nice vs 1d8 + 1 to 5 for CLW.

EDIT - I thought there was a spell that made people affected by positive/negative energy as though they were undead, but cannot find it.

Rosa cast it on bref earlier, but he didn't know she did it. thought it was because he smeared blood on himself.

I envision bref and morsum have deep conversations about chewing things.

Yep heal is hard of ya evil, you can take the heal Domain if your lucky, with your bad god, or faith abstract. Then get rebuke Death, -0HP PC heals but thats not much use, infernal healing is just what Rosa uses, as its yes, 10 HP of 8 rounds or 44sconds less than Min. if ALL the party our outsiders then one feat Alignment Channel will do it but no Enlarge parsons etc as your outsiders :( But for Rosa its a heal feat so may give it her if our PCs live to level.
