Hey peeps, just want to you to know, no need to metagame why I haven't PM'd you recently. That's actually just me suddenly having some RL interference. Nothing major, but I have a had a couple seem to express concern about Taraz possibly cutting them out. Promise it's just me not responding as quick as usual. For the most part, at least. :P
I'm not going to be available to make updates July 4 - July 8 because I'm going to be away at A Music Festival. I'll have my phone with me to check on things but there is a strong chance I'll be having too much fun to post anything substantial. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anybody too much.
Woo-hoo! When the GMs away, players will...er, roleplay?
Lol, no offense meant Doug, but I am pretty sure we can RP for 4-5 days without supervision, heh heh. Maybe plan on closing a vote on 7/3? So the days you're gone is aftermath and setting up the next vote?
that festival looks great, Billy Bragg was essential college tunes, I still play 'Life with the Lions' and 'The Great Leap Forward' on a regular basis in my iTunes cycle
That's how it worked in the last game with Sutra, she would have only the first rounds results. As she died in the second (although Ryuko simultaneously gave me the results with her death, as it was more dramatic)
Yes, that's accurate. At the end of round 3/beginning of round 4 the detective got his/her results, so currently they have had the chance to make 3 investigations and the baners have each had time to complete 1.
Personally, I think a couple of things could be changed for the next game. Although with the first two blood-less rounds I think we had a great deal of co-incidences.
Everyone will see that when the round summary is posted. The lessons learned from this game could certainly be used to tweak the next, but the level of coincidence in this one may make it unique.
Any thoughts on the next game? I'm sort of interested in running one, based on a bunch of artificial intelligences competing for resources in a virtual reality...
This round is going to end in about 2 hours. Get your votes and PMs in right away.

Professor, if you'd like to have the next game I'll pass the torch on to you. Running a game is quite the experience but also requires a substantial amount of work. I wouldn't be opposed to running another in the future, but for now somebody else can take over if they want it.
Great, I'll start putting together a draft of the fluff for my game and the roles/rules I'll be using so we have plenty of time for discussion and inputs.
Ooh, a defrag routine AI, but Noir fluff, so its job to clean up the Frags in the style of a jaded, semi-corrupt beat cop. You can't spend all your time in the Frags without becoming a bit fragged yourself, right?
do we get to know if the assassin had a special role, such as the stalker or head assassin, or is it always just listed as simply an assassin for the lynchings?
Even though the round 4 has just finished there is controversy started up about a ruling I have made.
As GM it is my duty to remain Neutral to all matters and therefore since a ruling cant be met in private I will open it for a public vote.
The issue is that I closed the round without receiving a PM from Taraz with his decisions to Protect and Investigate. Post process, after I typed the results and were ready to send them I received Taraz's PM. I informed him before the rounds results were posted that it was too late, since the round had already closed I could not factor in his decisions and he died as a result.
I'm going to ask everybody to vote weather this was a fair ruling and weather or not we may need a retcon for the results of round 4.
Taraz, you may add any additional details you like.
Removed and saved my post until decision is finalized.
I agree with Prof. Devries (below) in general, but without having a definite schedule on this one, I'm not so certain. Did we have today as the close day? EDIT: Checked, didn't see it. But Doug warned things could be closing quickly.
I'm a bit surprised that certain things have to be done each round, like renew protection or investigation if they are not changing. I personally tend not to kill players over misunderstandings or mistakes, but this is a bit different from running a long AP. Quick game, stricter rules. It hurts, but it's your game to run, Doug.
As presented it sounds like a fair ruling. Quite inconvenient for most of us, but fair and consistent with what you posted.
When I was the werewolf I usually made a point of sending a PM with a target early in the round, then changing if I felt the need to in the next few days... that way I was covered if I couldn't post on the day the round ended.
I am willing to admit that I hadn't sent anything up until now, so I have fault there. My feeling on it is mostly that once I left work yesterday, I wasn't in front of a computer agan until a short while ago, so I didn't have a chance once time was being called. Alessandra's point about sending something right away is probably good, and lesson learned unfortunately.
*shrugs* I am a big RPer, so it's always frustrating to me when a character appears to get railroaded on a technicality. I realize Doug did say he wanted to get two rounds off before his trip, guess I was assuming later tonight or Sunday would be the end.
I understand the ruling. I was just initally upset, so it's all good whatever is decided.
We're in the same time zone and I was also surprised when I logged in this morning and saw that voting had closed. For a Saturday morning, the close warning went up at 8am our time, and then closed by 10am. For a game where rounds don't already have a set ending point, it just happened a bit too quickly for a morning that people are likely to be sleeping in, or doing something with the family like going to the farmers market or out to breakfast.
I think it's useful having a bit more advanced notice for when the rounds end, since many of us are in different timezones. In previous rounds we had a broad timeframe, but I only just got to a computer and found out that the round was ending in two hours a little more than two hours ago. I think it may be worthwhile to give a day or two notice for what range the rounds will end in.
Erm... I have something rather significant but not quite spoilerish to post in-character. Should I proceed then retcon if the vote is in Taraz's favor, or hold off until everyone has chimed in?
I vote for retcon and Taraz' PM going in while we still have time to modify posts. :) I understand the point that votes should go in early, lesson learned, but at the same time we're all here to have fun and feeling like you have to camp your computer or die by time zone isn't fun.
Besides, the game's pretty well wrapped anyway, so Taraz' death really doesn't do anything but provide some Break the Cutie drama.
In my favor, I suppose it's also good that Taraz had "disclosed" his role. Otherwise that would be just too metagame to let a baner back in...
Either way, I want to say that it has been an amazing game, and I have had some really great RPing opportunities in this. Hopefully this little bit won't ruin anyone's immersion. I would hate to be the cause of that.
I just think it was impossible for some of us to know when the round was ending. I left home right before the announcement the round was ending for example, and was on a train until it did, so I can understand how Taraz missed it.
I vote to let the retcon in. My reocmmendation is that we keep an official cutoff time for votes and PMs. Even if it's going to be awhile, like 8 hours, to see a wrapup, at least everyone knows it's there. Any ongoing RP can just be buildup of suspense.
