The Crypt where Ekat Kassen was laid to rest has become an important part of the town's history. This year a group of hand selected individuals have been chosen to venture to the crypt and retrieve the Everflame in time for the autumn celebration.

Taking Kerret's advice, I grab the sword and then move after Lorant, "Kaylee, Pip, we must stay together and protect Lorant. Something must have happened to him."

Doug, Kerret is following Lorant, assuming he can do that by following the light on his shield. He will also bring his dancing lights with him for illumination. Anyway, he will head for the stairs up to the top level by the most direct route possible.

WTH!?!? Pip stares as Lorant dashes from the room. He gets up and follows everyone else, no way in h*ll is he staying here alone!

Kerret! Which way did he go?! Kaylee shouts as she loses sight of the two at the intersection.

Up to the pillar trap chamber! Kerret calls over his shoulder. Then right!

Should I try to stop him with a spell? I could grease him...

Kerret spreads his faerie fire globes into an arrow, pointing to the door Lorant is at. Free action.

I continue to race after Lorant.


Hey everyone. The Holidays have been keeping me so busy that I didn't have any time to make posts. Everything is more or less back on track now. I'll give everyone until tomorrow morning to post and then I will continue with regular scheduled updates.

For the sake of clarity, Kerret continues to run after Lorant.

Kaylee follows Kerret's directions, running to the upstairs chamber and turning right.


Lorant runs a little further before the fear effect wares off. He stops in his tracks with Kerret not far behind and Kaylee & Lorant just catching up not long after.

No map today guys. Just let me know what you all want to do and I'll work it in next update.

Kerret catches up to Lorant, slightly out of breath, but none the worse for wear. Once everyone has caught up, he brings the illumination of the faerie fire around the group.

Lorant, are you all right? What happened back there? he asks playfully. Scared of shadows in the water?

Lorant turns and he's breathing hard. "I...I'm not entirely sure. i just saw the skeleton killing you all and then he seemed to be coming straight for me. I had to get out of there." He looks a bit sheepish. "Sorry about running..."

Kaylee catches up to the two men. Lorant, are you okay? She looks him over in concern before she asks him if he is ready to return. Don't look into the water next time, please. she says, relieved that the panic didn't last long.

Lorant runs his hand through his hair. "I'm ok. I'm sorry about running. Something in the pool just got to me." When Vastar arrives, Lorant takes back his sword.

"Ok, I think I'm alright."

Hmmm Kerret muses, Maybe while we're up here, we should finish looking at the rest of this level. I'd hate for something to come wandering down behind us. Especially if Lorant is going to drop his sword again.

I pat Lorant on the shoulder, "I'm glad you're okay. That pool must carry an unnatural enchantment."

I think there was a second door in that pool room where Lorant went swimming that we didn't check out. Can we explore that one? Also, there were stairs going down from the room before the shadow man...

Lorant takes a deep breath to compose himself once again and then he walks over to the second door. He looks back at the others for a moment and then opens it.

Kerret casts detect magicand peers over Lorant's shoulder, down the hallway. He sends the orbs of his faerie fire down the hall to illuminate things a bit better.

Call it a hunch, lads and lady, but there might be a trap in there.

"Better let me take a look." Pip heads down the hall (to J2) looking for any signs of traps.

Lorant walks up behind Pip and examines the statues. He tries to pull off the padding around one of the swords to see what it might be covering and why someone would have covered it.

Kaylee follows closely behind Lorant, keeping an eye out down the hallway as he examines the statue.

Kerret keeps pace with Kaylee and Lorant, but sends the globes of light to the unexplored end of the hallway.

"Hey, Lorant, is that a good idea? I prefer padded swords to sharp, painful swords."


Lorant pulls off the leather padding from one of the statues. It becomes immediately apparent that this was wrapped around the the statues sword to hide a sharpened blade that the statue is holding.

Kaylee's perception reveals no new information.

Looks like these were put here to protect us. Just like the blunted arrows and the pillows. They expected us to come this way, but why not cover them all? Without the padding these are sharp." Lorant looks to see if the swords can be removed from the statues.

Let's be careful where we step. I'd rather not have these things start swinging at us.

Kerret looks down the hallway, wary for anything out of place.

If the way seems safe, he moves forward to the end of the hallway.

Lorant moves slowly down the corridor after Kerret, watching the statues carefully and making sure to hold his shield up against the statues which have bare swords.

Stop! Kerret cries out. There's a pressure plate there! He points out the plate.

It's at M2. Is it something we could hop over, or does it need to be disarmed to get past?

Lorant freezes when Kerret shouts. "Uh, Pip. I think you should take a look."

Pip moves to where Kerret points out the pressure plate. "I think I can take care of this."

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14


Pip finds the mechanism, but cant seem to get at the actual machinery of the trap. There is not much he can do here...

Try again Pip, Kerret urges. But if you can't get it, maybe we can all try to get over one at a time.

Acrobatics skill says it's DC 5 to long jump 5' as long as you have a 10' running start (although those with a base land speed of 20' get a -4 on the roll.

Kerret backs out of the hallway to give Pip room to work and others room to jump.

Kerret shrugs and follows Lorant's lead, running then jumping over the pressure plate.
